It was very rundown, and we received poor service. Visited: May 2006 |

We booked three nights. It should have been a garden view, but it was more like a concrete view! It was very noisy, rundown, and outdated.
Also, we thought the pool was a laugh (it was a kids' size).
We paid for bed and breakfast, and was told it was a web site mistake! I suggest you stay away! |

This hotel is ideal for the traveler on a budget.
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Gloustershire 9/3/05 - 9/06/05, and three others stayed at Sunset Beach. My Sunset Beach friends were very impressed with our room, the size and the decor.
The rooms were spacious, and the hotel staff was very nice. I didn't use the pool. But on the day I visited the hot tub, it was not hot at all.
The dining room only offered a buffet breakfast for about $10.00. Most of the food items were ideal for a Jamaican breakfast. With the exception of a few ants and a couple of mosquitos in the room, I found the quarters to be quite accommodating.
The hotel was ideally located on the strip and everything was accessible. It was right across the street from Doctors Cave Beach (which now charges $5.00 US for admittance).
I would definitely stay at this property again. |

When we booked the room, we were slightly...well...scared. It was rated two stars. That was scary to us.
But when we arrived, we found it was rather not a two-star accommodation. The rooms were large, and the hotel staff was incredibly nice.
We were spring breaking it up. And although we didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel, the time we did spend here was nice. The front balconies were relaxing and a nice place to people watch.
It was a great place to stay. We would definitely stay here again upon our return. |

This was absolutely the best hotel dollar I have spent in a long time. The hotel was conveniently located, with access to everything.
The biggest thing that would bring me back to this hotel is its staff - its gracious and wonderful staff. |

I love the Gloucestershire and stay there every time I come to Jamaica. Even if I am staying in Ochie, I arrange at least one night at the Gloucestershire. The pool was spotless and very nice and refreshing. My Dad has a in ground pool, so I can spot a clean pool when I see one. The interior corridors and lobby of this little hotel are kept spotless at all times. Never is there a time throughout the day that you don't see workers mopping the floors! The rooms are simple and nicely kept. The food is good. Try the pumpkin soup. Doctor's Cave Beach is so convenient right across the street. Bargain with the taxi drivers on the street. They are polite and very accommodating. This would be a great hotel for spring breakers, couples, families or business travellers.

It was just okay - better than a Motel 6. Visited: December 2003 |

My trip was a lot of fun. However, at first glance of the hotel, I was ready to go home. But after looking at my room, I was okay.
The rooms were big and very clean, and the customer service was outstanding. We were right across from the beach.
Overall, it was a good place to stay. But (and I mean "but"), there was no way I was going to get in the pool. They realy need to spend some money upgrading the pool. I hated the pool. But, for the money, you will love it.
A note of warning: Look out for the taxi cab drivers, they will charge a lot. |

Most disappointing trip to Montego Bay Visited: March 2003 |

I recently stayed at the Gloucestershire and was most disappointed in the service offered and the poor standards of the facilities. I found the hotel to not meet the amenities described in the brochure or on the website.
The bedroom was very small, the decor outdated and the view was of a busy street, which was noisy at times. The bathroom was dirty and also in need of renovations. I requested a room transfer and was offer something of a similar standard so decided to stay in the room that I was originally assigned.
The restaurant was a bit pricey, offered basic items and we received consistently slow service.
The best thing about the hotel is it's location as it is right across the road from the Doctors Cave Beach which is one of the best attractions that Montego Bay has to offer. It is also close to the airport and the area has a good selection of shops, restaurants (which I needed) and some nightlife.
My advice is that it's worth spending a little more if needed to make your stay more enjoyable.

What a great little hotel! Visited: January 2003 |

I stayed at the Gloustershire many times on visits to Jamaica. I found the inn to be very satisfactory for my needs. The rooms were cute and clean and the televisions were large. The pool was spotless and, although smaller in size, not crowded with lots of people.
The location of this hotel was perfect. It was central to both Ocho Rios and Negril and was right across the street from Doctor Cave Beach ($3 admission). You will be able to do day trips to both Ocho Rios and Negril while staying here.

Great for young bargining vacationers, but not honeymooners. Visited: August 2001 |

My girlfriends and I stayed here, and we liked it.
It served its purpose, and was right across the way from the beach. It was located on the main strip, and was not too far from airport.
However, if you are honeymooning, you will want something of better standards. |
