5.0 stars Charela Inn is a nice place in the sun! Visited: December 2006

This was our first time here in Jamaica. We picked Charela Inn because of all the positive comments. I have to agree!

It was clean, and filled with character. If you want those mega resorts--please go to Beaches, Sandals etc! If you want to be independant, this is the place to be.

It was central to everything. There seems to be quite a following to this Inn. We met couples who have stayed in Charetla Inn--3,4,7 and 18 times!

The owners, Daniel and Silvia, are hands-on, and take great pride on having a very nice place. The beds were "firm," and our room was clean.

It was a nice stay and I would come back here again. Shane and Scott are "real characters" in the bar; and Evan takes care of you on the beach. This was a well run small Inn with a lot of Jamaican character. We love it!

My group stayed at Charela Inn, and our hotel room was robbed of four cell phones, money and jewelry. The manager was quick to defend his staff, and he was very rude and disrespectful to us.

Our stay at Charela was a disaster from day one. The food was always late, it was very unappetizing, and the portion sizes were a disgrace.

4.0 stars We love the Charela Inn! Visited: February 2006

I have stayed at many places on the beach in Negril. Two years ago, while staying at Coco La Palm, I discovered the Charela Inn.

Last year, Coco was booked, so we tried the Charela. We stayed in one of the upper rooms overlooking the beach, and it was beautiful.

The room was very nice, the balcony was great, and the staff was first rate. I agree that the bathrooms are minimalist, but at least they were clean and operational. Water pressure and temperature were a moment-by-moment lottery everywhere I have stayed in Jamaica, but that is part of the adventure.

In short, I will be back to the Charela.

We spent two weeks here durin Christmas and New Year's. Originally, we had a ten-day trip planned, but decided to extend it once we arrived.

Aside from the mattresses being a little too hard, everything else was perfect. The service was great and friendly. We also enjoyed delicious food.

In addition, they had the most beautiful beachfront view this side of Paradise. This is a "must go back to" place!

4.0 stars Charela Inn is a quaint and pleasant place to stay. Visited: December 2004

Charela Inn had a very nice beach, although it was sandwiched closely between two other hotels. Also, the staff was friendly and helpful.

Try for a second floor room with an ocean view - fabulous view! The one drawback was the bathroom. It was a pretty small room with a shower made for a five-foot tall person. Also, water temperature fluctuated constantly.

Otherwise, the hotel was nicely landscaped and quaint.

4.0 stars Charela Inn is a wonderful, quiet, and hospitable place. Visited: March 2004

Some years ago we stayed at a hotel nearby and discovered Charela's restaurant by accident. Several times we pilgrimaged from our hotel along the beach to take our meals here.

This time, we decided to stay here as well as eat here. Our intention to take at least one or two meals elsewhere was abandoned as soon as we realized that the restaurant was as good as we remembered, and that we could do no better than to stay put. We were sorry not to have opted for the meal plan. Next time we'll know better!

We had a fine second-floor room overlooking the ocean. We needed a few extras for our comfort, and they were supplied promptly. We appreciated all the staff - and especially George Bailey, the driver.

During our last visit, the Inn along with its staff were wonderful. Food was excellent, our room was excellent, and it was the best winter Location so far.

We will repeat often. Yes, this place is romantic and is a little piece of heaven.

We had another stay in Paradise! This was our third visit to the Charela and we continue to be treated like royalty...treated as well as people who have notched their 15th or 25th stay!

The food was superb, and the staff was uncommonly gracious (even by Negril standards). The Charela has arguably the best kitchen on Negril beach--the five-course dinners are the best. (We chose the MAP plan and think we'll continue to do so)

Also, the beds were very comfortable--firm! We'll be back in 365 days (but who's counting?). Thanks again!

We just returned from a week at the Charela in Negril. It was my first time in Negril and I recommend both Negril and the Charela without reservation.

The inn was located, in my opinion, on the best stretch of the beach. The accommodations at the inn were very nice and the service was excellent. Dinner and wine at the restaurant were both great.

Also, many other fabulous restaurants were just a walk down the beach. Don't forget to get a "dirty banana" (yum) at the Firefly a couple of doors down. We stopped at sunset time a couple of times to sip a drink and watch the sun go down.

This was the easiest and most relaxing vacation I have ever had (and have been to the Caribbean many times). I can't wait to come back.

3.0 stars Our view of Charalla is that it is very average Visited: March 2003

We were disappointeded with the quality of the rooms. We had to take 3 rooms before we found one we liked. The first one didn't have sufficient water pressure in the shower. The second room didn't have a proper working toilet and the a/c made a lot of noise. I don't think the rooms are very well maintained and therefore we didn't feel we got a good value for our money

The Charela is a small, and beautiful inn on the fabulous Negril Beach. The view is spectacular, and the staff is wonderful.

My family and I will be making our fifth trip this year. Once you are here, you can barely stand to leave. I highly recommend it.

5.0 stars It was simply awesome - Paradise on earth! Visited: February 2002

I have just come back from my honeymoon at Charela Inn. I had such a marvelous time.

The honeymoon suite was wonderful. It was clean and spacious, and I really enjoyed the jacuzzi.

What really stood out was how peaceful, scenic, beautiful and tranquil the surrounding area was. Each staff member was so willing to offer their assistance. Also, the food was superb!

What a wonderful place.

I made my reservation before I left for next year's vacation. I have to come back to my little get away spot.... "Paradise on earth".

The Charela Inn had great facilities and an awesome staff. Debbie was the nicest waitress! The beach was clean and safe. The food in the restaurant was magnificent. I suggest ordering the chicken pasta dinner with a chicken and mushroom crepe! It was the best! I would definitely stay here again!
