I have to share this wonderful Secret! |
|
| Posted by marathonrunner | |
| My boyfriend and I stayed at Secrets in Negril last month. It was wonderful and romantic! Secrets is a few cozy cabins that lie within the property of Firefly Beach Cottages. They are very inexpensive (outdoor showers and bathrooms) but right on the beach and nice and clean. We also get to use the outdoor jacuzzi and there is a cute little beach bar that's perfect for coffee, breakfast and lunch. Negril beach is incredible and ocean is so clear that you can always see the bottom. We loved it! And because it was so affordable we should be able to go back before too long. |

It was very disappointing. Visited: October 2009 |

| I am not a very picky person. I just want people to be aware of the fact that this place does not look at all like the pictures they post on their web site. The service was horrible. I rarely saw a smile on one person in the lobby. The gentlemen who ran the guest services made it seem like he was too good to help anyone. He was so preoccupied on his cell phone or the computer. The quality of the room was way below average. The furniture actually had spots of rust coming through the fabric. You will have to climb back up a mountain to get to your room once you go to the beach. The restaurant service (or lack thereof) was very disappointing, too. For example, I ordered soup at one and it was never brought to me. When I brought it up to the server he said "Oh, did you order soup?" I said yes, and he said he would bring it right over. Needless to say, I never got it. On another occasion, I stood at the beach bar for ten minutes and was never helped. I actually saw two other people walk up next to me and get helped. Keep in mind it was not busy. There were only two other people at the bar when we finally just walked away. If you buy anything in the gift shop, check the receipt. We were overcharged even with the label price on everything. We experienced way more bad than good here. The only things that hold this hotel together are the social directors, Miguel and Shellie-ann, and the food. I have to say the food was the best I have ever experienced, though. |

| We spent two weeks at Xtabi Club Resort and we loved it. The food, especially the Lobster Thermidor, was great. The staff and management was very helpful, and made our stay a great experience. We loved it. |

Riu Montego Bay has friendly staff and a large pool. Visited: January 2009 |

| This hotel had very friendly staff, and its bartenders were extremely friendly! The hotel had a nice, large pool area and thanks to a tip we received, we found that scuba diving is great near the resort with reasonable rates. We tried to make same day / next day restaurant reservations, but we were unable to get in to any of the restaurants throughout our stay. The buffet was okay, though. Try the jerk chicken on the beach. The room we had was very spacious. Overall, the hotel was very clean. |

| We stayed here from September 37th until October 11th. We found it pretty much the same as before. It was a very friendly place, and you get what you pay for. I would definitely return next year to see all my friends. |

| Imagine walking out your room to find bananas hanging for your dining pleasure. There are also rope swings and hammocks. I enjoyed the full breakfast buffet with everything - breads, fruits, and eggs as you want them until 11 am. You can enjoy it while looking out over the Caribbean. The staff is great - always friendly and helpful. If you need something - no problem. All you have to do is ask. Also, you can't get much closer to the beach! |

| We have been going to the Negril Tree House for almost 20 years now. This past January we spent 3 delightful weeks there. It is our "paradise on earth". From our first visit years ago, we noticed the friendly atmosphere and beautiful accomodations. The rooms are bright and refreshing, the grounds are kept perfectly and the facilities are clean and updated regularly. The beach is very private and vendors are kept at bay by Moses and the security staff. You are not bothered. The water sport crew are helpful and freindly. They have jet skis, parasailing and snorkling available. The included breakfast is the meal to start your day off. Omelets, breads, fruits, and veggies to mention a few things on the buffet . owners Jimmy and Gail frequently are in the buffet area to greet and assist with any vacationers questions. WE highly recommend the Negril Tree House to any vacationers who are either new to Jamaica or seasoned travelers. Experience Jamaica here and not at an "all exclusive" as we call them. The Jamaican people you meet here really show you the country at it's best. I am spending 6 weeks here this year. Hope to meet you there. |

Sandals Negril just shines. Visited: October 2009 |

| My lovely new bride and I just returned from our honeymoon at Sandals Negril, and we both highly recommend a visit. The staff is professional, friendly, and extremely efficient. The grounds are well kept and spacioius, and the room was well furnished and clean. Dozens of activities are included in the room rate, including water skiing, tubing, glass bottom boat tours, snorkeling, water trikes, etc. Also included is transportation to and from the airport (a 90 or so minute trip that is entertaining in and of itself). The staff makes you feel like family! After a week's stay, we definitely didn't want to leave. We will be back for our one-year anniversary! |

This is the worst hotel in Jamaica. Visited: September 2009 |
|
| Posted by petey | |
| This hotel is unbelievably bad. It is completely run down, and it is very dangerous. All of the swim platforms to the sea are broken. Plus, there is a major highway (Lighthouse Road) nunning right through the middle of it. Lighthouse Road passes between the restaurant and the reception area, and carries tour buses, trucks, and speeding cars at all hours of the day and night. Don't stay at this hotel. It is a complete ripoff. |

| My wife and I stayed at Samsara in a pillar house. All I can say is that this is Jamaica. If you want to stay in a place you could find in any big city in the USA, then by all means, spend your money and go have Coors Light at the fancy places. If you want a vacation to Jamaica, this place is for you. Advice for sleeping...let yourself pass out! You're in Jamaica! The food is okay, and the drinks are strong. Have a good time meeting people and jumping off the cliffs all day long. Party as much or as little as you want. Nobody cares one way or the other. If this sounds good to you, Samsara is the place to be. It's safe, and the water is wonderful. Who cares if it closes at 10 pm? For all inclusive, go find a place to hang out if you want. You're on vacation, remember. I came here in August 2009, and now I'm returning in November 2009. One love. |

It was a great vacation. Visited: October 2009 |

| We had a fantastic six days at the Sandals Grande Ochio Rios. The staff was outstanding, prompt and went way out of the way to ensure everything was "no problem". I read some negative reviews prior about long dinners and poor food. We experienced none of that. The food was on par with expensive Charleston, SC type fair. Dinner was four courses, thus about two hours. That is standard for luxury dining. This wasn't McDonalds...it was a resort proper. The rooms were clean rooms, and the private pool was visited by cleaners twice daily - not even a leaf. Also, the stocked bar remained stocked. Excursions are excursions. Folks at those venues want to sell..but that's what they do. Water was not as pretty as other places, and the reefs were in bad shape (close in). However, that is a Jamaica problem. The Sandals staff is just fantastic. If you're used to luxury and country club perks, they have it here. |

What a dump Visited: August 2009 |

| This is simply the worst possible hotel that you could ever imagine. We absolutely hated this place. It is a ripoff. We only paid $70 for the room, but the room stunk and was full of insects. There were bedbugs in the bed and cockroaches on the floor. We tried to get our money back and the manager gave us all kinds of attitude. These people are major con artists. EDITORS NOTE: You get what you pay for. I would not expect much from a $70 hotel in the states, much less in Jamaica. You paid for a cheap hotel and got it. |

| This place needs a clean-up, and a major one. The room was stuffy, and the drain in the bathroom did not work. I supposedly got the expensive room because I wanted my own bathroom (yes, some rooms share bathroom). I feared seeing the less expensive room. No amenities were available. The restaurant was closed by 6 pm. It was not a good experience for my first time to Port Antonio. I couldn't stay at this place again. |

| What a difference new owners make! Xtabi was recently sold and the focus now is really on customer service. My wife and I decided to stay here since our first choice (Rockhouse) was sold out. It turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to us. We saved a lot of money and had a fantastic time at Xtabi. The new owners really know how to treat you right! |

| Our visit to Sandals Montego Bay was without a doubt the most amazing vacation experience we have ever had. When we checked out of the resort the young lady at the front desk asked me, "What was the best part about your visit?" That was a hard question to answer since there were so many elements that made the visit perfect. The people of Jamaica are the most genuinely nice people I think I have ever encountered. Everyone at the resort would gladly go out of their way to help you with whatever we needed. The food was magnificent! All-Inclusive trips are the way to go. Each night at one of the restaurants we went to had some sort of lobster dish every night. One night was a seafood buffet, and there were so many Caribbean style dishes I had never had it was hard to choose which ones to try. Each meal, breakfast, lunch, and dinner was an event, not just a meal. One morning, on my wife's birthday, they brought us breakfast in bed. Now when I say breakfast in bed, that's exactly what we got. The young man brought us breakfast on a tray balanced on his head and then set the table on our bed! It made her day that much more special. If you're worried about finding things to do while at the resort, don't! You can lay on the beach, hang out by one of the two pools, go snorkeling, diving, sailing, kayaking, or go on tours that are set up through the resort. They also have a great spa and an outdoor fitness facility that rivaled our gym here at home. And leave your watch at home because when in Jamaica, there's no need to worry about time. In fact, we didn't see a clock anywhere on the property except for the alarm clock in our room. It was a slice of heaven on earth, and we will be going back as soon as we can! |

It was so disappointing. Visited: August 2009 |

| Posted by j514butt53 | |
| We just got back from wasting our money. Where to begin? First, the food was terrible. An all inclusive place that doesn't allow you to eat in the same restaurant more than once is ridiculous. I had almost limited choices being a vegetarian. However, I did come back nine pounds lighter. My kids were bored to death after the first day. One day the power went out (not their fault). However, to not have back-up generators to power the air or safety lights on the pitch black stairwells at night is very unsafe. Our room was always dirty. I left a few things purposely on the floor to see if they were swept. No! There also was a dead bird that laid on the sidewalk near our building for five days (even after I informed the front desk). In addition, how do you not replace the toilet paper when you see the roll is almost empty and not even leave a new one? Ice machines never worked the entire week. I wish I had stayed home. |

It was not the best time. Visited: June 2009 |

| Posted by caseybug81 | |
| When we got here, the hotel was beautiful. The hotel staff was very friendly - not counting the front desk clerks. The rooms were very nice and clean. The pools and beaches were clean and beautiful, too. However, the food at the buffet was horrible. It looked and tasted like it was cooked the day before as a different dish. The restaurants we had to make reservations for were very good, but it was really hard to get reservations. The hotel blocked all calling cards (outside) besides their own. They were 20 minute calling cards for $20. It was a rip off - just to make the hotel extra money. I feel this is very unacceptable! I will not return and stay at this hotel ever! It was a bad experience after they tried to take every penny we took! |

| Catcha Falling Star is one of the best places to stay in Negril. We stayed for three days on the cliffs, then three days on the beach. The beach was a big mistake. Ivan's Bar and Restaurant was excellent. The staff was very nice and happy. I would definitely go back. The room we stayed in was called "Virge". It was absolutely beautiful. |
