In July 1995 Montserrat was surprised by the eruption of our Soufriere Hills Volcano. Since that time we have relocated many times, lost most of our homes and valuable agricultural lands and have had to rebuild in the northern third of the island.

Many Monserratians have migrated to other countries to seek employment, housing and education for their children.

The Vue Pointe Hotel was closed in August of 1997 due to an escalation in volcanic activity. In September of 1998, the Government of Montserrat, on consultation with the Montserrat Volcano Observatory, deemed Old Towne to be once again safe for occupation.

Since that time we have been removing ash, repainting and refurbishing the hotel in order to be able to welcome overnight guests to "our house" once again.

As of December 2000 we have completely renovated 12 cottages and fitted them with fully equipped kitchenettes, ceiling fans, telephones and Cable TV.

Although the beautiful Montserrat Golf Course has been covered by mudflows, the Belham Valley is now being recolonized by diverse flora and fauna. Hikers, bird watchers and students of nature have been intrigued by the power and majesty of our still active volcano which can be viewed from each and every room at the Vue Pointe!

Facilities at the hotel still include a fresh water swimming pool, two hard-surface tennis courts, shuffleboard, library, beach bar, gift shop/commissary and beauty salon.

The Michael 'Gen' Osborne Conference Centre consists of four Meeting Rooms and can accommodate up to 200 persons in air-conditioned comfort.

Scuba Diving and Diving Lessons can be easily arranged.
