Hermitage Plantation had Old World Caribbean charm. Visited: November 2004 |

The Hermitage was like being in a plantation house back in time. Well manicured lawns, rustic but modern accommodation and friendly staff were features of my stay.
The place was special for me because it reminded me of my grand aunt's house in rural Jamaica, where I had lots of great memories.
The view from Pasture House where I stayed was fantastic, and the patio was very private, with a hammock....one of my favorite places to have a nap.
All amenities were as you would expect it.
In the evening, the owners invited guests to the bar for cocktails before dinner. I stayed one night and didn't care much for the menu items presented. The taste wasn't to my liking, but the food was very well presented.
I was disappointed that I had to stay in such a beautiful room and location alone!
I would return and I would definitely recommend the Hermitage to anyone who wants to get away from it all, to relax and unwind. It is for someone who doesn't need to stay at a beach resort (there is a shuttle to their beach club), and for those who like nature.
I stayed at Oualie Beach Hotel and Mount Nevis and I would rate the overall experience at the Hermitage just a little higher than Mount Nevis. |

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon in 1993, and have visited every other year since—now with our 3 children. We are happy with the relaxed, do nothing atmosphere, and the way no one ever says no. Oh, and of course, Shabba's famous rum punches in the bar. |

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at The Hermitage - the owners and staff went out of their way to make us comfortable, with really charming, intimate service. But of course we were comfortable, we had a beautiful old West Indian cottage with a gorgeous four poster bed and a balcony where we hung in the hammock and watched monkeys and goats frolic in the trees.
The whole setting of the property was beautiful. We ate and ate and ate! So much of the food was made fresh at Hermitage and the meals were incredible. The most fun, though, was the gathering each evening with the owners and guests - felt like you were at a personal dinner party!
The island was so nice, the beaches were beautiful - and what's so nice was we weren't bumping into hordes of other people. Can't wait to celebrate our fifth anniversary here! |

I visited The Hermitage when I was 12 years old I am now 20. I still remember how beautiful it was and how pleasant the staff was. In fact, I write to the bar tender Shaba (Clive) to this day i got to wake up every morning and look out my window to see the "Three Wise Men" (palm trees) and a gorgeous mountain side. On my porch, I got to look into a grove of mango trees with monkeys playing with each other. The food was excellent. I suggest having breakfast - the omeletts are the best. |
