We were married here on their private beach in 2003... it was great. We stayed a week at Montpelier and a week and Nisbet. Both were nice, but Montpelier had that extra touch. The food here was the best on the island! |

My wife and I just returned from an utterly extraordinary one-week honeymoon at the Montpelier Plantation Inn.
First of all, the island was the perfect getaway island for honeymooners or those who just want to get some peace and quiet. The island only had 11,000 inhabitants and there was only one major hotel (the Four Seasons). The rest of the hotels on the island were smaller inns like Montpellier.
We found the people to be extremely friendly and highly service oriented (considering tourism was the stable of their economy), and there was not a high number of peddlers on the beach like there is in Jamaica.
We decided on Montpelier by reading internet reviews. As such, we were compelled to write a review of our own since there really was not that much published information on the inn. Once we decided on the hotel, Montpelier’s staff bent over backwards to answer any questions that we had before our arrival which, considering we were planning a wedding, truly was a plus.
When we finally arrived at the inn, we were given a brief tour and within ten minutes we were in the pool. We did not have to check in until the next day! Believe me, after a long flight you will truly appreciate this!
Service at the inn was remarkable. Since there were only 17 rooms, the staff to guest ratio was extremely high and they bent over backwards to accommodate the guests.
Another plus was the food, which was truly remarkable, as was the view from the terrace where dinner was served. And you will thoroughly enjoy the high tea every afternoon with which you get fresh scones and cakes. Don’t worry about the diet when you visit here!
During our visit, we did get a chance to visit the Four Seasons and the two places were very different. First of all, the Four Seasons was a resort, which meant tons of people and kids. While the resort was absolutely beautiful, I am definitely glad we did not stay there during our honeymoon considering the amount of kids and convention goers we would have had to deal with. Plus, we thought the food was much better at Montpelier!
The bottom line is that Montpelier was the perfect place for a romantic getaway. The service was amazing, the compound was beautiful and the food was to die for. It truly surpassed our expectations! |

It was as if we were staying at friends home! Everyone was so very kind, welcoming and very accommodating to any request. Thanks to Gail, Tim and Meredith - and everyone, actually. They made an effort to make sure we were having a good time, and watched over us to make sure we did not climb too many mountains. In short, they cared!
During our stay, we felt as if we made friends for a lifetime. We loved spending time talking to the staff and learning about them and the island.
The grounds and the views were spectacular - talk to Miller, he will give you a grand tour of the property and all its different foliage.
The food was mouth watering. The drinks were delightful. Ask the bartenders Kaddy, Eddison or Garfield for a Painkiller. It was a refreshing cocktail to enjoy by the pool.
A must during your visit to Nevis is the hike to Nevis Peak. However, I suggest you be in shape and not mind getting muddy! Much of the hike was vertical, but so worth it!
The service at Montpelier, two words..the best. All the staff were great. We miss them all! I could go on and on forever about the island and Montpelier, but will leave it at two words - unforgettable and everlasting.
We will return to Nevis and Montpelier.....the only way we would not, is if we bought a house on the island! |

A wonderful place to get away! They have a beautiful pool, fabulous food, excellent and friendly service, and one of the best private beaches on the island.
It is a fabulous place for weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries, and special occasions. All of the Hoffmans and the staff made us feel comfortable and completely at home. Also, the food is some of the best on the island. Do not miss dinner at Montpelier. |

Travelers seeking a change from the crowds and sometimes depressingly uniform luxury chains should consider the laid-back but elegant Montpelier.
Count on excellent meals, a relaxed pace, and a much more European sensibility and clientele than you will find elsewhere. I highly recommend it for those who want the best, rather than the flashiest. |

We had a fabulous time on our honeymoon at Montepelier Plantation Inn. The room was lovely in every detail. The service was excellent. Thank you Michael, Celia, James, Kadmiel, Rosie, Leslie, Valerie, and many more whose names we didn't know. The food was completely the best! We loved the hot pepper sauce!
We're home now in Santa Barbara marveling about Nevis, the unusual combination of comfort and beauty and tropical soft sounds so restful and soothing, at the same time to be in so real a place as Nevis. Nevisians have much to be proud of. Thank you for your hospitality. Next time we will bring Gabe(age 15). We hope it's soon. |
