What a remarkable place to stay. To start with, the location was second to none. The beach was secluded and safe for children, as the ocean did not get deep quickly.
The location of the accommodation could not have been more convenient. Within seconds of leaving our room, our feet were in the ocean.
The sunset views over St Kitts were exquisite, and brought memories of all the sunset pictures I have ever seen. The accommodations were just to the level needed for a quiet Caribbean vacation.
The staff was the friendliest I have met on holiday, and really made me feel part of the picture. We had the option to spend the week at the hotel as the hotel was equipped with a great bar and restaurant. Or, we could venture out into Nevis where we discovered a historic island with great local food and people. On several occasions, the staff was very helpful in sorting out the problems that can occur when on vacation.
The best way to judge a vacation location is to ask yourself the question, “Will I go back ?”. Well this visitor answers with a resounding - Ye!. |

I have never visited a nicer and more intimate resort. Visited: May 2005 |

I stayed at Oualie with my girlfriend and it could not have been more romantic or relaxing.
It was a very intimate and quiet place with a secluded beach, beautiful houses to stay in, and great food. It was far smaller, less crowded, and less expensive than the Four Seasons which made it ideal for young couples and families.
The beach was also soft with white sand, the water was calm and shallow. One could literally walk 50 yards out from the beach while still touching the bottom. And the sunsets were just amazing- the beach faced the sunset and the beautiful island of St. Kitts.
The staff and management were the nicest I have encountered on any vacation (especially John, the owner; Jason, the chef; and Stacey, the receptionist), but they really went out of their way to make sure the stay was enjoyable. Never have I had such a warm and personal relationship with people running a resort. It really made it feel like home.
Most of the island activities were also located at Oualie (like wind surfing, snorkeling, diving, fishing, sailing). So besides the tour my girlfriend and I received from the wonderful Nevis-born cab driver, Sidney (ask for him by request at the front desk), there was really no reason to leave the resort.
Plus, the resort had wireless Internet which meant that I could check my email and do my work while sitting on the beach or having a drink at the outdoor bar.
Overall, our stay at the Oualie was the best vacation my girlfriend and I have ever had. We would highly recommend it to any couple or family traveling to Nevis. And we will undoubtedly return again and again over the next several years! |

Oualie Beach is the place to be. Visited: December 2004 |

My husband took me to Oualie Beach for our tenth anniversary(December 1993). We were treated so very well by everybody at Oualie Beach Hotel (and all of Nevis for that matter). They all made us feel like family from the first night of our stay.We loved it so much, we absolutely had to go back in December of 2004 and are planning our return trip again.
One of our favorite things, aside from being treated so well, was the laid back attitude. We have four children, two dogs, two cats, a bird and fish. And then there is work. Needless to say, we have a lot going on! It was great to be welcomed the way we were. we enjoyed just sitting at the bar, walking the beach and just plain relaxing.
We arrived on a Tuesday night...Oualie Beach band night. We enjoyed that so much that our next trip, we had to make sure we spent two Tuesday nights there. There was lots of food, and a lot of great company. Who couldn't enjoy it?
On our first trip, our luggage did not arrive with us. All of the staff at Oualie worked very hard to try tracking it down for us, so we could spend our time doing whatever it was that we wanted to.
And when I needed personal toiletries and didn't want to make a trip to town, the staff was very willing to share theirs. Even Captain Lennox gave me a shirt so I could go on his catarmaran to go snorkeling, which I had never done before. I didn't master that, but I still had the time of my life.
The staff at Oualie set up all of our adventures that we were interested in - everything from just taking a taxi into town to the rainforest trip.
Everyone at Oualie Beach touched our hearts so. I bought a Nevis shirt in town, and had everybody sign it so I could bring a little piece of them back with me.
We sat in the bar in the morning after my husband took his swim, and I walked the beach to see what the ocean had brought me. We had nice conversations with guests, staff and whoever was just passing through.
For some..I suppose the food service was slow. To those, I would have to say..."you are not at McDonalds, you are now on Nevis time - just enjoy".
If you're looking to go on vacation to get away and enjoy yourself, and feel welcomed from the moment you step off the plane - go to Nevis. I strongly recommend staying at Oualie Beach Hotel. If you can't manage to let go of your "schedule" ...you'll probably not enjoy it as we did.

I was on business and was booked in by my company to Oualie Beach. On the day I checked in, it had rained. There were no paved walkways, so when I got into the reception area, there was mud everywhere on the white tiles.
The receptionist who took me to my room, had to take me a back route, because the grass was soaked.
Just before dinner time, it rained again, so my leather sandals got wet on my walk to the dining room.
Dinner was okay. The furniture in the dining room was very old and outdated, not in keeping with the style of the bedrooms. To the dining room's credit, I wanted chicken but none was on the menu that evening. However, the dining room captain offered to go and ask the kitchen if they would do a chicken dish for me and they did.
The bedroom was spacious and had a view of the beach. Several of the wooden slats could not be closed because the chain was missing for me to hook it in the space provided. I therefore had to hang a hand towel over the window for privacy!
The bathrooms were very large. Actually, I think there was wasted space there.
I wanted an iron. The receptionist told me that there were none, after checking for about an hour. I suggested to her that maybe another guest had one in use and she could call them, which she did. To get to that room, I had to trudge through mud and wet grass. The guests who I borrowed the iron from said they had lost two pairs of shoes because they had to walk in the water to get out of the property. They were also here on business.
I was not paying the bill, but I refused to let these inconsiderate owners get the company's money and I checked out after the first night. I should have been staying for three.
I would not recommend Oualie Beach. And neither would I return. |

A reasonable value, but not special. Visited: January 2003 |

The people here were extremely friendly. We found this to be true for all of the people we met in Nevis.
We were in a beachfront premier room and it was very roomy and reasonably nice. I would recommend going with a beachview room because you are only a few steps further from the beach and you will feel a lot better about the price. There had been some significant beach erosion when we were here and you actually had to walk a ways to get to the beach in our "beachfront" unit.
The restaurant and bar areas were cute, but the week we were here, they didn't function as gathering places like some places we have stayed in the Caribbean.
A general comment about the whole facility is that it didn't seem like it would have taken a lot of work to make it significantly nicer than it was. The location was great and the physical structures were in place to be a very nice resort. It just needed some sprucing up. This ties back to my comment that you will feel a lot better about your vacation investment if you paid $200/night rather than $300.
We only ate breakfast in the restaurant because of mediocre reviews on the internet and from other guests. Breakfasts were good. There were a lot of water sport activities based here. This place was not a bad option in Nevis if you are looking for a reasonable value on the beach. |

Friendly and comfortable, but overpriced. Visited: January 2001 |

The hotel is certainly not fancy, but rooms (Premier) are large and comfortable, with huge king-sized 4-poster beds, air conditioning, fan, satellite television and VCR. The bathroom, with twin marble vanity, was huge and could have accommodated a bathtub (which, sadly, was absent).
The staff was generally friendly and accommodating and was able to arrange watersports activities as well as car rental. They were also knowledgeable about the island and its attractions. The manager, Vaden Jones, was extremely helpful and friendly.
The location is just a few minutes drive from the airport (but only small planes use the airport so noise is minimal and infrequent) and from Pinney's Beach, where the Four Seasons is located.
Oualie Beach is a long stretch of beige sand, with generally soft sand and calm waters. There are spots of drifting seaweed, but it can be easily avoided while playing in the water.
Food at the restaurant is average to good. It does seem expensive for what you get and service tended to be on the slow side. |

An excellent place to stay! Visited: May 2000 |

I stayed here with my girlfriend and was very nervous, as this was "off the beaten path" and a new experience for both of us. I am proud to say that everything was excellent! It’s one of the only hotels on the beach in Nevis, and Island activities can be arranged by the hotel desk. The food was excellent, and the service was superb—thanks Tim! You rarely need the air conditioning in the rooms, as the breeze is constant. Only downside, which was beyond the hotel's control, was the mosquito problem at sunset. Do not let this deter you, it's worth the few bites! I highly recommend this for anyone and everyone! |

Just got back from Oualie Beach Hotel and met so many wonderful people. If you're looking for peace and quiet, you'll find it here. The rooms are huge with great screened sunporches and plantation chairs! The location is ideal. It's an excellent quiet beach with clear water and so peaceful at night. Everything you want to do is nearby from catamaran tours, mountain biking to windsurfing. The food was excellent, surf and turf at night was the best. Watch out for the rum punches! It was such a quiet, laid back place and we will be back! |

This is an excellent place to stay if you are looking for peace and quiet. I recommend it over the Four Seasons hotel; it’s quiet, and has a nicer beach (even though it's smaller). During the recent Hurricane, Oualie seemed to have gotten all of the nice sand, leaving the other beaches with rocky and unnatural sand. Oualie also offers Real Estate (Buynevis.com), Fishing/Boating, Bike Rentals, Scuba Diving Equipment Rental/Purchase, etc. |

Great place to stay. Very friendly, great food UKŁ22, US$70 for an excellent full evening meal. Nevis is a great place for a quiet holiday, NOT if you want to go clubing every night! |
