Every major tropical habitat unique to Puerto Rico can be explored at Las Cabezas De San Juan Nature Reserve, located north of Fajardo on road 987 near Los Croabas. A 2-hour tour is offered which include a tram ride and a 30-minute hike through the mangrove forest. The guide explains the plant life, points out animals such as iguanas and birds. Spend a few hours on the rocky beach, exploring the lagoon and take a spiral staircase to the top the restored lighthouse, now a U.S. Historic Landmark. Inside the lighthouse are aquariums with lizards, fish and anemones. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water. English tours are at 2:00p.m. Admission is $8 adults, $5 children and seniors. (close)
