I stayed here for three days. It was excellent.
It was a good hangout for adults - no children. |

First, the location was great. The beach was literally your own back yard. Also, the bartenders were friendly, attentive and funny - as were the people on the front desk.
In addition, there were no roaches as indicated on other reviews.
The bad part was that the rooms need upgrading! The curtains had tears on them, the comforters were as old as dirt, and housekeeping needs to be trained to vacuum or sweep the floors.
Our door kept getting jammed. We had to struggle with the keys for about ten minutes before we were able to unlock the door. Worst, the door got jammed from the inside (a major fire hazard).
If you are looking for just a place to sleep, this will be fine. Also, it would be good for hanging out with a friend. However, I would not recommend it for a honeymoon place or romantic getaway.
They did have access to a roof top balcony with nice views with lounge chairs and an outside shower. However, the place was dirty! Wear some flip flops for protection! |

Save your money! This was the worst hotel in our 20 years of traveling. We changed rooms three times - and still ended up getting bitten by bed bugs!
No wonder they make you pay ahead of your stay with no refunds! |

The positive reviews here must be seeded by the owners of this hell hole.
I checked out early, and was told that I needed to pay for my entire stay. I refused payment on my credit card, and didn't pay a penny! This place needs to be shut down! |

What was - was, and what is - isn't much. The Atlantic Beach was overpriced, too grimey, and too restricitve with visitors.
The staff, which seemed to change regularly (along with management) was adequate. The men, who seemed to be the current owners, were rude and nearly contemptous of their guests. |

My stay here was terrible. I was here on business for a travel agent who does 90% gay bookings.
The staff was friendly. However, when I tried to talk to the owners, all I got was a look from them as if they were better than me. I write reports on hotels located around the world, and I will never send my clients here.
My room and bathroom weren't that clean. Also, I couldn't open a window to let fresh air in. In addition, I had to be buzzed in, and couldn't bring any guests to my room.
Finally, I had jewelry and a large amount of cash stolen from my room. I will never stay here again, nor will I recommend it to others. |

This hotel charges extra for guests you bring to your room when you are here for a business meeting.
Also, I didn't see the owner say "Hello" or "Good Morning" to any guests.
The windows couldn't be opened to let fresh air in, the food was not so great, and the bartender tried to fix me up with guys.
This hotel shouldn't be opened - or someone else should buy it and fix all the problems they seem to have here. |

I found the decor to be poor, and did not like that guests could not bring others to their rooms.
Also, guests had to be buzzed in to enter their own rooms. The room facilities were poor, in my opinion. In addition, there was no Internet service.
If you consider the above-mentioned to be important, I would strongly recommend you stay at another hotel. |

I just returned from Puerto Rico and a 15-night stay at the Atlantic Beach Hotel. I have to admit to being worried about booking such a long stay at this hotel after a few of the negative reviews. But from the moment I arrived, I knew it would be a great place to stay.
All of the employees and management made me feel at home from the day I arrived to the day I departed. They were all so friendly and helpful, and couldn't do enough for me. The hotel's location was perfect with good selection of restaurants close by.
The Atlantic Beach Bar was really hot, and was always a great place for drinks and meeting locals. All in all, I had a very positive experience at the Atlantic Beach Hotel and have already booked my return trip for July 2006. |

We recently returned on 3/23/2006 from our fifth annual stay at the Atlantic Beach Hotel. Based on our past visits, we have never understood some of the negative comments made about this hotel. We have always found more good points about this hotel than negative.
This year we were able to book our reservation directly through their website on their new reservations system which we found to be very quick and convenient. All of the rooms we have stayed in over the past five years have been absolutely fine with ample space and always very clean bathrooms with plenty of towels.
All of the staff is really very friendly and helpful, and the service could not be faulted. The location is ideal and so close to everywhere that we have always wanted to go while in Puerto Rico.
We look forward to our sixth visit next year, and we will continue to recommend the Atlantic Beach based on our past five stays. |

I had to laugh at some of the reviews and comments that were posted on this site about the Atlantic Beach Hotel. I have been staying at the Atlantic for the past eleven years, and have always found the employees and management to be very polite, helpful and pleasant. They have always made me feel so welcomed.
I will agree that a few of the rooms may need a bit of updating, but my rooms have always been very clean and well maintained. I have seen no bugs, no stains on the linens, and have always had plenty of hot water.
If you are looking for a five-star hotel or a place that will put a mint on your pillow every night, this is not the place. But if you are looking for a clean, oceanfront room in the center of the Condado, and a great American breakfast for under $6.00, this is the place.
I cannot think of any other place I would want to stay on my next trip to Puerto Rico. |

I had read all the reviews on the Internet prior to booking a room at the Atlantic Beach Hotel. I was more than concerned about the negative reports. Let me set the record straight!
In my opinion, the people who complained about this hotel should have just stayed home! Or better yet, go ahead and spend the $500 plus and stay in a five-star hotel.
This hotel was by far more than we expected. You can't please everyone (and some you can't please at all!). This was a great small hotel with nice rooms, a perfect location and great service. |

Atlantic Beach Hotel was an excellent choice for us. My partner and I just returned from a week-long vacation in Puerto Rico (3/10/06 to 3/17/06). We can honestly admit that you truly can't do better than the Atlantic.
Our room was a bit small, but it was more than adequate. Also, the housekeeping staff was great, and they always made sure that our room remained spotless.
The hotel's beachfront location was perfect for us as well. All of the hotel and bar staff were great, and they were always ready to help us with any of the requests we had. We will definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends, and we will most certainly return again very soon. |

I thought this place was an absolute dump! My bed was uncomfortable, the sheets were stained, and the bathroom was above all else the most disgusting part of the experience. I found stains on the toilet, hair in the sink, and a shower you would only expect in a third world country. Avoid this place like the plague!
It's the only gay hotel in the area. But please don't expect you won't find gay folks all over the place! We checked out and headed to the Sheraton in Old San Juan. I know, a really big hotel but totally worth it. We found "family" in Old San Juan at the bars and walking around in the streets having a great time.
Don't feel like you have to stay at Atlantic Beach Hotel to experience "gay San Juan." You will only be disappointed. |

I feel I paid top dollar for a bottom of the barrel experience.
The owners never spoke to us our entire stay here. They never even acknowledged us as paying guests, with even so much as a "hello" (much less to ask if we were happy with our stay or needed anything). We felt as though we were being avoided.
We also found that the gay bar was maintained by all straight bartenders, who seemed dishonest and manipulative. The one gay bartender we met seemed to have an arrogant attitude that only outweighed his lack of professionalism.
The drinks here were metered and tasted watered down. We paid $5.00 or more for a small plastic cup.
Also, the beach chairs they provided were broken, rusted, and filthy. The beach towels they "furnished" were $10 (refundable). The beach towels were not as big as a small bath towel, either. And they were practically threadbare.
They did have a restaurant, but it seemed to only be open sporadically (and never on Wednesday). It was also very overpriced for much too little to choose from.
The rooms were small, but clean. The cleaning staff was very attentive, but we did not see them every day.
The oceanview rooms had windows that wouldn't open, and the windows were so dirty, we couldn't see anything clearly. It was like looking through frosted glass.
It seemed like this hotel was falling apart in front of our eyes. They did offer on-site laundry, but I wouldn't have anything of mine washed in that place!
They offered an iron and an ironing board. However, the iron was rusted and chained to the wall. The ironing board fell out of the wall unit upon opening it. The cover was torn to shreds, and rusted to the point of falling apart.
The rooms had cable TV, but ours was broken. The picture was so dark, there was no way we could watch any television.
The roof top lounge area was never lit at night, nor did it seem to be cleaned.
I suggest you look a little further up the beach for a hotel. There are several gay establishments with much more to offer at lower prices. |

From the first day we arrived, the staff and manager made us feel like we were home. We had an amazing time here - at the beach, hanging out at the bar or enjoying the parties at night.
We wanted to stay six more months! This was definitely a great hotel to relax in and to enjoy an intimate getaway. |

I highly recommend a stay at the Atlantic Hotel.
The rooms are older, but the staff keeps them clean and maintained. The staff is by far the most attentive I've encountered. Also, the location affords excellent beach access and proximity to the bus stop for travel to Old San Juan (B21).
I would highly encourage a stay here for visitors to Puerto Rico. |

I stayed at the Atlantic Beach Hotel last month and I have to tell you, I have no idea what the reviewers who gave few stars were talking about!
When we arrived in Puerto Rico, we were kind of worried about our decision based on the negative reviews posted on this site. But once we stepped into the lobby, we knew we had made a great choice!
Don't expect a property full of the luxury of a five-star hotel, because you will be disappointed (it was not a luxury hotel). But do expect to be treated nicely and respectfully by friendly employees.
Also, expect a very clean and confortable room, very competitive rates, a beach front bar, direct access to the beach, many restaurants (fine dining and fast food) within walking distance, complimentary continental breakfast, and a free beach chair to get a nice golden suntan to show off back at home! What else can you ask for?
You will find other hotels with more luxury and amenities in San Juan, but not at these great rates. And again, you can't beat this small hotel's location on the beach.
The people who wrote negative reviews about this hotel may think they stayed at the Atlantic Beach Hotel, but it could not have been the same Atlantic Beach that we experienced. Give them a try you will not regret it! |

I've stayed at medium price to high end hotels all over the world and have never seen such a dump for a hotel. Anyone that THINKs they got a good deal here hasn't been out that much or stayed anywhere decent in their lives! Checked out after one night and went to Wyndham Condado Plaza, where we should have started to begin with. Filthy rooms with a nice mouse visitor climbing in and out via the airconditioner which kept the room a nice 80 degrees. Bartenders and front desk staff were friendly to me. Some seedy clientele indoor and on the beach. |
