It was perfect. Visited: February 2003 |

I return to the Horned Dorset each year with my mother for a long weekend in February. Each year it manages to become even more beautiful, and it is by far one of the highlights of my year.
My experiences at the Horned Dorset are that without fail, everyone who works there is amazing; very attentive, and very friendly; they look to every detail possible. I have not personally had any problems with towels or sheets (as another poster did).
The upstairs restaurant is French, and is very popular, formal, and in my view romantic and perfect for couples. My preference is the new downstairs bistro (The Bleu Room -- just opened this past weekend, we were their first guests!). We ate there two nights, and the food was out of this world. You can sit inside or outside, and the outside area is right above the water with an unbelievable view.
While the Horned Dorset is billed as a hotel without activities, they will arrange activities for you upon your request (such as horseback riding, snorkeling/diving, cultural tours of nearby town, etc). Both the pool and the beach are beautiful, and both offer plenty of shade.
I'm already looking forward to returning next year and to seeing all the wonderful people working here who I have gotten to know. |

The Horned Dorset offers the best rooms in the Caribbean. Visited: December 2002 |

The new villas at this very private hotel are the best rooms in any hotel in the Caribbean.
The separate bedroom in the second story is our heaven, and the bed is comfortable to the extreme! The landscaping has grown to provide privacy to the plunge pool in each suite, while allowing the beautiful view of the smooth ocean. The ocean is so blue and calm on this side of the island.
The villas are joined to the hotel by a new bridge and a walk down to the small sandy cove beach. It is a pleasure, because it is as if you are walking down a small street in a village.
At the edge of the beach, a wooden gazebo holds the towels and iced water, Italian of course! What brings us here every time is the food, but now there will be another choice: a grill called the Blue Room for simpler fare.
But now the world can come for the experience of staying in what you could call your own private beach house, if only for a few days. And your neighbor is probably a movie star - it happened to us! |

An oustanding small hotel. Visited: April 2002 |

The grounds were beautiful, the staff was extremely attentive, the common areas of the hotel were charming, and the dinners were amazing.
Our room (superior deluxe with an ocean view) was very comfortable and nicely decorated, but some of the small details were a bit cheap given the price of the room. The towels were threadbare, the bedsheets didn't quite fit the mattress, and the deck furniture was plastic. These were tiny inconveniences however, and we would absolutely stay at the Horned Dorset again.
The atmoshpere was relaxed, uniquely indulgent and was pleasantly lacking diversions. Although the price was steep, we and other guests staying here at the same time agreed that it was worth the price. |

The Most Romantic Honeymoon Spot Possibl Visited: November 1999 |

Having had many wonderful dining experiences at the Horned Dorset's beautifully restored Victorian Inn located in Upstate New York, I knew their Puerto Rican site would offer the elegance, tranquility and personal attention we wanted for our very small wedding and honeymoon.
From start to finish, our expectations were exceeded. The Primavera, a former estate, is beautifully restored and located in a very private, lush, tropical setting overlooking the ocean. Envision beautiful antiques, a happy, gentle staff committed to making anything possible for their guests, and the serenity of no telephones or televisions; only the sounds of intimate conversations and ocean waves. The rooms are furnished in a classic-European manner with luxurious linens, spa bathrooms and antique furnishings.
Edwin personally assisted us in making all of our marriage arrangements from our cake and flowers to helping us acquire our marriage license, which included driving us to the locations and personally overseeing the timely processing of our paperwork. He even made the arrangements for a minister and a wonderful Spanish guitarist and singer. Every dinner featured excellently prepared French dishes (by a former chef from Aureole in New York City) with an amazing wine list in a quiet, candlelit setting overlooking the ocean. They've frozen some of our wedding cake and we are returning this November to celebrate our first anniversary. |
