This hotel was actually quite nice and had great charm. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Also, the bar was nice with good food.
It would have been helpful to know there was an annex, which was actually closer to the beach. The hotel was conveniently located to almost everything: Old San Juan, Conado, casinos, etc.
I wish there were coffee makers in the room since there was no room service.
I do plan to stay here again on my next visit to Puerto Rico. |

We were very pleased with At Windchimes. "Boutique hotel" was a good description.
The standard rooms were small, but nice and clean. It was also a short walk to Ashford and the restaurants and shopping, but we like to walk. The beach was only a block away, but high waves from the "north blow" prevented swimming.
It was more like a hotel than a guesthouse. It was kind of prim and proper, and we enjoyed it. |

We received a great price. It was a very comfortable stay. I would stay here again.
The beach was one block away, but we couldn't swim there. There were big waves. You could dip your feet in, though.
The only drawback was that we had to take a taxi everywhere. It cost $10.00 per way, and that was a fixed rate.
Bring comfortable shoes and a backback for items you shop for. If you go into town - stay there. There were lots of tours you could arrange. I don't recommend you take any of the tours except the rainforest one. Everything was less than $5.00 per person whereas tours were anywhere from $40-80 per person. Also, everything to do was in Old San Juan (shopping, the two forts, a church, and the ferry to the rum factory.)
All of the "hole in the wall" looking places had the best food, so don't be snobby.
If you take a left from out of the main hotel's lobby, you will find a lot of American restaurants. You can walk along the beach on the way up or back - the beach runs along the street. |

I tried to book the hotel online but, after entering my credit card information, I did not get a confirmation. I called direct and was told that what I needed (1 room - 3 people) was not available, but were offered accommodations at another property they owned (Casa El Carribe - which turned out to be impossibly NOISY). After we got home we found we had been charged $119 (about 2 nights worth) at the Windchimes Inn and have been fighting the charge since September. Our credit card (Citi Bank) is not backing us up and the Windchimes Inn refuses to refund the charge - claiming it is for not cancelling the reservation - a reservation that was never confirmed!!! At Windchimes Inn was a nice, small hotel. It was not a five-star hotel, but they provided good service and nice rooms. |

People at the front desk would not honor the rates described on this site and invented a new low season that starts in August. For quick thinking they get an "A", or a "1", and as many stars. |

I was very disappointed with the service at At Windchimes in San Juan, Puerto Rico. When we checked in on February 12th, we were delayed 30 minutes because Alexandra at the front desk argued with us saying that we had requested a full size bed instead of the queen bed we know that we had reserved.
Finally, she assigned a room with a queen bed (room 116) but informed us that we would have to change rooms after the second night. Then on Saturday, Valentine's Day, we were moved to another room (room 113). After we were settled in, we discovered that the sink in the bathroom was clogged. We informed the front desk immediately, but the sink remained clogged until late Monday morning.
I will never stay at this property again and will definitely let my colleagues in the airline industry know my horrible experiences during our stay. |

This charming little hotel was just one block from a great beach, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The small pool was charming and every cab driver knew where the inn was.
They even let us shower after we checked out and spent the morning at the beach. Also, the bar had great food (breakfast particularly was great). It was very fairly priced. I left feeling like I got more than my money's worth. |
