1.0 stars It was so awful I left mid-stay for another hotel. Visited: June 2009

This hotel was so horrific, I left it mid-vacation to stay at another hotel. I have decided the nasty staff, gross rooms and unkempt amenities were all tied for what I hated most about this hotel.

There was mold in the shower. The hotel boasts a rooftop pool, yet the signs for the pool, rooftop bar and fitness center all indicate hours that are incorrect. We were incredibly disappointed to find that upon entering the pool area, the pool was closed and locked off to guests. When we did attempt to enjoy the pool, we found the pool bar wasn't open at all. We had to go back down to the casino to get a beverage.

Also, when I called for room service, I had to make four separate calls to place an order. Once placed, it arrived almost an hour later. It was cold, and one of the two parts of the order was wrong. I had to call five or six different numbers (concierge, room service, front desk, etc) before I got through to someone to tell them that the order was wrong.

No apologies were made for messing up my order, and when I asked to send it back, they said that I should leave it outside. I asked to have something else brought and they said the kitchen was closed and I was out of luck. So there I was, over two hours later, now really hungry but unable to be helped whatsoever.

I asked for it not to be on my bill. The man at the front desk said "no problem". We passed by the executive suites the next day to double check that we had not be charged. The woman working assured us that it had been taken off. Upon check out, we found it had not been taken off.

I love Puerto Rico, and visit several times a year. However, I will never come back here. You can get more bang for your buck many other hotels in Condado.

1.0 stars I received lousy service. Visited: July 2007

I had a broken toilet for about a twleve-hour period. The main elevator was down for two consecutive days. There was no personal attention at the hotle restaurant.

In addition, there was lack of parking due to outisders visiting the hotel casino and nightclub, It was a nightmare at night to park!

We couldn't complain because the manager did not want to hear it.

There was no pool. The breakfast was good, but the AC didn't work well. Suggestions for the hotel: get a pool, advertise more, and have more activities

Entering into this hotel you would expect to see and be given the service in which it advertises. That was certainly not what we experienced.

There was no pool, and it was under construction. There were certain items we should have received in our package for staying here, but no one seemed to know what they are. They said "We'll get back to you.", probably thinking that we didn't understand their language, yet I speak Spanish.

The rooms were clean, but why did they wait until we returned later that day - we could have done it ourselves.

2.0 stars One Bad Stay Visited: June 2004

The Hotel was not bad the staff was nice and so were the rooms.
But here is were the Stay goes down hill, during check out time The Bell Boy was supposed to take my suitcase into storage until My friend and I's flight leave instead the Bell Boy gave my suitcase to a family going on a Carnival Cruise line. After filling out a police report and a report for the hotel I was told that I would recieve a check for my items. Weeks later American Airlines calls and tells me that they found my suitcase it was dropped off at the airport. I contacted the hotel when I received the bag . Things were still missing and I told the hotel a full list of the items missing. After weeks of avoiding my call I was told by the Head of Security that There is a cap on the amount of money that they would give me so I agreed to that amount and now no one not even the police know where the list is of the items that were missing. They can't seem to find the manager who was on duty that night Not only that It has been 3months and they are still avoiding my call .....

Let's face it...you are going to Puerto Rico and staying in San Juan. It is a city - and a dirty one at that - but you can find refuge within the doors of the Radisson. It is clean, extremely friendly and well managed. For the price and location, you can't help but be very pleased.

4.0 stars This is a perfect location just five minutes from the airport! Visited: April 2003

My boyfriend and I spent only one night in this hotel and it was beatiful. The room was modern, comfortable, and very spacious. The balcony overlooked the city of San Juan.

The hotel also provided a great staff and they made us feel very welcome in the hotel. They filled us in on some nearby hotspots! And the complimentary drinks when we first arrived really hit the spot. Although we didn't spend much time in the casino, it was great, too.

I highly recommend this hotel for people of any age. The location was perfect, and the hotel was beautiful. What else can you ask for?

4.0 stars An excellent place to stay in San Juan. Visited: March 2003

For my first trip to Puerto Rico, I must say this was a pleasant one.

The hotel was emaculate and the staff was very pleasant. The service from housekeeping was also excellent, the rooms were always cleaned to perfection and the staff was never too far away when we needed something.

I traveled with two other friends and we opted to stay in a suite. This was more than enough room for us. The beach was only a short walking distance away. The roof top pool was very comfortable and we enjoyed the staff there as well.

I would stay here again and would highly recommend this hotel to others.

My stay was absolutely amazing! I feel that the cynical comments by Allison P. were uncalled for.

Our iron was superb, and they even gave it to us when we left as a gift. Ask for DeSouza and Mr. Guzman, who were the most hospitable cleaning personnel. They even joined us for Tequizas as they were cleaning our room. Also, the room was comfortable and the mints were tasty!

We cannot say enough for this experience in San Juan at The Ambassador. The suite we had was spacious and very clean. The service, and room service was 5 star!

The casino downstairs was super friendly and just a wonderful experience. The restaurants were top notch. We found everyone here to be very guest oriented, and we met some of the nicest hotel and casino employees we have ever come across in our travels.

Anyone who would not be a repeat customer here would have to think twice about it. We were so happy here we seldom left the hotel or the casino. We would go again in a flash!

5.0 stars This is our home away from home. Visited: June 2001

We visit "La Isla Bonita" every year. Our last time here was June 2001, and we would not stay anywhere else!

The staff is ultra friendly! The accomodations are incredible. You are a two-minute walk away from a private beach, a four-star restaurant or a 24 hour "bodega". The roof top pool and jacuzzi are a great place to be at sunset.

I do have to agree with Allison P. about the iron. But after our first stay here, we decided to bring our own. On the brighter side, we always have a great relationship with the housekeeping staff. They were awesome- the rooms are immaculate! We always have extra towels!

We love this hotel and recommend it to everyone!

My wife gave me the gift of a five-night stay at the Radisson. It was one the most pleasant five days I have spent in a very long time. The staff was very courteous and friendly. The rooms were immaculate, and the pool was relaxing. My family and I are returning in the summer and we are looking forward to the trip. Thank you very much Radisson!

4.0 stars More than one expects. Visited: April 2000

Actually, we've stayed at the Ambassador Plaza twice and have a reservation for October this year. We usually stay prior to a cruise out of Puerto Rico.

It is immaculate; the lounge has great music and entertainment; the staff is exceedingly accommodating and we usually get a great rate besides. The location is convenient and I recommend it to anyone who is content not being on the beach.

3.0 stars The room was spacious. Visited: April 2000

The air-conditioning was superb. It worked so well that it was freezing when we first got into our room; we actually had to shut it off. We had a mosquito problem, but didn't bother to call management. Our room was kept clean and the staff was courteous and knowledgeable in giving directions to nearby attractions. The pool was never crowded and was a nice size. We had breakfast every day at their restaurant, which was always delicious.

We didn't enjoy having to call room service every time we needed to use an iron. Also, you could only have the iron for a limited time and it had to be signed out for use. Plus, one of the irons messed up a skirt of mine, which had to be brought to the cleaners when I returned home.

We're not sure that we would return.

4.0 stars Customer Service Oriented! Visited: December 1969
Posted by ATraveler
My family gave us a two night stay at the Ambassador last Christmas for our 25th anniversary. It was great! The suite we had was beautiful, with all the luxury you expect from a five-star hotel. The walks in el Condado area gave us a feel for the area. The dancing music at night was excellent and the included breakfast was absolutely fantastic. The hair salon staff was very accomodating. The pool facilities, even though on the top floor, were good but the best was the customer service oriented staff. We highly recommend this hotel. The only downwer is the view and that it does not sit on the beach side, but is within the two-minute walk.
