A perfect honeymoon paradise. Visited: February 2002

We stayed in Costa Dorado Beach Resort for our honeymoon last month and we loved it! It was just the perfect place to have our honeymoon. It was not a crowded hotel, but a very friendly and cozy environment.

Our room was just steps away from the pool and even though we were a little dissappointed with the appearance of the room, we were very pleased with the accomodations.

The room had good air conditioning, nice clean bathroom, closets and a very confortable bed.

The restaurant offered great food and the honeymoon package included breakfast and dinner. A++

The service was excellent. The gazebo offered refreshing drinks (the best Piña Coladas we have tried, and we live here in Puerto Rico) and the staff was very friendly to us.

The only dissappointment was the beach. We tried getting onto the beach, but it was impossible. The waves were too rough on us and we ended up rolling through the sand, not so romantically as we wanted, but in adversity we laughed all the way! We found the pool to be a little bit more inviting.

We can't wait to return next year for our anniversary!

Could be nice but needs some TLC. Visited: January 2002

We organized a stay here after visiting their website. We were keen to stay somewhere by the beach, but it should be noted that getting to the beach required crossing a road and then negotiating a broken stairway. On arrival, we were a bit surprised that there were only a few cars in the parking lot...but read on. Our room was on the 3rd floor and closest to the seafront. The view overlooking the gardens is quite pleasant, and we could see (and definitely hear!) the ocean through the palms. However, newly constructed apartment buildings opposite dominate the scene.

The room was ok, but rather worn and needing attention (i.e. loose faucet coming off in ones hand, toilet cistern empty due to leaky valve...). The pool looked neglected and uninviting, and the Jacuzzi was empty and non-functional. Not much to recommend, except for comfortable King-size bed.

After one nights stay we decided to move on (partly because of noise from new construction at the Costa Dorado villas), as we felt we were getting poor value for our money. To summarize, we think the Costa Dorado needs a lot of work to live up to the impression one gets from their website.

Not bad for the money - oceanfront is the key. Visited: December 2001

We have been going to Puerto Rico for the last 11 years. The last three, I have stayed at Costa Dorado.

The rooms are in need of a bit of "TLC". Also, the food is kind of weak - go to a local restaurant, you just need to find them. They are inexpensivbe and very good.

The best things about this hotel are the rates, and the close proximity to the Atlantic. The pool is good, the weather is great every day, and the nights are beautiful. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation with the wife and kids - go!

A small town, out-of-the-way resort. Visited: March 2001

The reason for my stay at this resort was to attend a close friend’s wedding. One nice thing the staff did was to allow my roommate access into our room, since my plane was delayed and she arrived on time.

Our room, however, had a leak right over the door, so we got christened each time we entered. The door stay to the balcony was completely rusted, and each time we opened the door it scraped across the floor. Thankfully, it was still early in the year for real heat and humidity as our air-conditioner also made a lot of noise; it’s a good thing that we could get by without it.

The overall condition of the rooms reflects that of a resort that has fallen on difficult times. The carpet had a wet and musty odor, so no matter how often we kept the door open, it always seemed stuffy. The ice machine was out of order and I had to call the front desk the first night to get hot water.

Overall, the staff was competent but not overly accommodating. At times they seemed annoyed with guests and not very customer service savvy. The pool was nice and well maintained, the food at the restaurant was quite good, and the wait staff was pleasant and efficient.

See you next year! Visited: December 2000

Year after year we have been going to Costa Dorada; this year they have made great changes in there garden, reception, etc.

The rooms were very nice with ocean view balconies. We found beautiful beaches where we could snorkle and also go to the pool area for a drink, rest and some sun. The restaurant food not only had good presentation but great taste.

The staff were exceptionally pleasant, helpful and friendly, making us feel like home.

I will come back next year and I recommend it.
