Inn on the Blue Horizon - Puerto Rico

Owner and host James Weis realized his dream with the opening of the 10-room Inn on the Blue Horizon on Vieques Island. His sense of style and love of entertaining are evident throughout the Inn. For the technologically addicted, there are no phones, TV, or radio, simply peace and quiet.

On a small bluff this plantation house overlooks the sparkling blue sea and rocky coastline. You first enter the house's main building through the warm terracotta-tiled atrium. Four well-appointed guest rooms are down a short hallway and the casual Blu Bar circular lounge is next door.

The six individual cottage rooms are scattered over the property and connected by a paved pathway. Each room is furnished with fine antique furniture and linens, reminiscent of staying at a friend's house. Elegant four-poster beds, sheer flowing curtains over louvered windows and cool tile floors treat visitors to the comfortable, romantic and relaxing style. Seven of the rooms have outdoor patios with oversized chairs to enjoy the ocean view. Each room has an adjacent roomy bath with a shower, closet and sink furnished with luxurious towels and hand-made soaps.

The grassy path that leads to several pocket sand beaches along this boulder-strewn coastline can be your path to solitude. Natural beauty surrounds you and fills your senses with the sights, sounds, and smells of the sea. You can swim, walk on the beach, pick up shells; and hand in hand, splash in the warm water with your special someone. The tiered swimming pool is in front of the main plantation house surrounded with colorful bougainvillea and comfortable lounge chairs. Just a short walk from the pool is the honor bar, a circular lounge area where you can grab a soda or mix yourself a tropical drink. After 4 PM there is a bartender to serve you.

Dining in the formal dining room or al fresco through the French doors overlooking the pool and ocean is another wonderful experience. Rick and Honor are experienced chefs working their magic in The Blue Macaw restaurant. They prepare quality ingredients with care and skill and provide guests with friendly and efficient service. Enjoy breakfast from 8-10 AM, lunch, appetizers and dinner in this casually elegant, delight to your taste buds, special café. A lighter fare bar menu is served from 5-10 PM including soups and salads, pizza, sandwiches and everyone?s favorite hamburger. Dinner from 6-10 PM daily features rack of lamb, veal osso bucco, beef Wellington, crab, snapper, salmon, and sea bass just to name a few entrees.
