We are very unhappy with the treatment we received. Visited: January 2007 |

My husband made a reservation in this hotel six months ahead of time for two rooms with two double beds. The clerk gave us confirmation numbers, and assured us that everything would be taken care of.
On January 2nd, 2007 we arrived at the hotel to be to be told that there was a mistake in the reservation and they could not lodge my children at the hotel because one of the reservations was for 2-1-07 and the other one was for 1-1-07.
We expressed our displeasure and informed the manager that he was penalizing us for a mistake his staff had made. The manager thinking I did not speak Spanish, told one of his employees to book us at the Sheraton because he did not want to deal with us.
We all reside in California, and we planned the stay in Old San Juan with the idea that we would stay in a classier place than the Sheraton, which as far as I am concerned is one of the worst hotels my family has ever stayed. We don’t like noisy casinos, or cookie cutter hotels. That was the reason we made our reservations at the Milano, ahead of time.
The behavior of the Milano Hotel Management was callous at best and irresponsible and arrogant at worst.
I personally think the Milano hotel management discriminated against my family, and I will let every Puerto Rican from California know what happened to us at the Hotel Milano in Old San Juan. |

My husband and I enjoy staying at the Milano the night before we go on a cruise.
We return to the Milano because their service is superb. However, their best kept secret is served at their rooftop restaurant. Made with fresh fruit and multiple liquors, the Sangria is absolutely the most delicious drink you'll find on the island! |

We ( two adults ) stayed at the Hotel Milano in April 2005 on two different nights.
The service, location, the rooms, and the delicious dishes served at the Rooftop Patio/Restaurant, combined with the ambiance and warmth of the management and staff was an absolute delight!
The Milano Hotel staff, management and staff were truly "ambassadors to San Juan"; making us feel welcome and wanting to return.
Thank you! |

Hotel Milano was great. We enjoyed our ten-night stay! Everyone at the front desk always had a smile. They were wonderful.
The service in the room was always great! The room was cozy and mostly everything was within walking distance. I'm very happy with our stay and I am looking forward to staying with them next year - but for a longer period of time! |

The Hotel Milano offers location, value, and character. Visited: August 2002 |

I concur absolutely with the other reviews that this is a great place.
I ranked it with four stars instead of five only to avoid confusing visitors with the common five-star luxury ranking. It is, after all, a small hotel in the old town.
That said, it's a great base with tremendous value and a lot of character. |

My party enjoyed the Milano Hotel. Visited: July 2002 |

I am writing to let you know how much my party enjoyed staying at the Hotel Milano during our recent five-day visit to San Juan.
The location of the hotel in the center of the Old City made it easy walking distance to all the interesting places within the Old Wall. The narrow, blue-tiled streets bounded by colorful building facades restored to their original Spanish Colonial appearance gave Old San Juan a beautiful architectural unity. Seeing the fortress complex of El Morro and Fort San Cristobal was a forceful reminder of the historic greatness of Spain and its culture and power.
Yet, inside the newly restored Hotel Milano, it was a modern facility with a distinctive air of taste and basic comfort (and very modestly priced.) It was a pleasure to meet and get to know the owner and manager, Juan San Emeterio, whose generosity of spirit gave the name “hosteller” new personal meaning not found at pricey corporate hotels. It was a delightful experience.
Hotel Milano is a great place to stay if you want intimacy and real local ambiance with safety.

A hotel with a heart! Visited: September 2001 |

I agree wholeheartedly with the rave reviews of others for the Milano, but would like to add one more comment, the human factor. After 5 great days I was leaving San Juan on the morning of September 11, 2001 when disaster struck. For the next 5 days I was living mostly at the airport, and on a tender from day to day and hour to hour. But every morning when I left the Milano I was assured that no matter how crowded the city had become, I would have a room, no matter what time of the day or night I could return. No price can be placed on their empathy and compassion. Viva La Milano! |

After staying at 4 hotels prior to my stay at Milano, it was an unexpected and refreshing atmosphere. Very friendly employees in a beautiful lobby greeted us.
The room was impeccable, and we enjoyed the rooftop bar and restaurant very much. The continental breakfast surpassed any we had experienced during our 10-day stay in Puerto Rico and Vieques. We look forward to staying at Milano again next year—only for a longer stay next time!

The perfect place to stay in the heart of Old San Juan Visited: April 2001 |

Going on a cruise from Puerto Rico, we were looking for a special place to stay for an overnight, and we found this great hotel. Located in the heart of Old San Juan, it is very convenient for those who want to walk all around. The hotel is great and its people, too. They take very good care of the customer. Needless to say, we will go back here if we return to Puerto Rico. |

Best location to pier & Old S.J., Best Value Visited: January 2001 |

We found our room to be very small, extremely and impeccably clean, and in the best location for pre- or post- cruise ship vacationers looking for accommodations. Hotel Milano was in the middle of Forteleza street, one block from the pier, in the middle of the shopping/tourist area.
Our room had a refrigerator and included a nice continental breakfast at the rooftop restaurant. The price was excellent (windowless was $80, prime room was $135).
I would highly recommend this hotel, and will stay here again next year. |

We only stayed here one night, but loved it. This small hotel is in an excellent location, right in the heart of Old San Juan. Upon entering the small lobby, I was pleasantly surprised with the decor. We were greeted warmly and made to feel at home. I was initially disappointed with the room, as there was NO window, just an ugly painting. It was clean and had a fridge. There was shampoo, tissues and a hairdryer in the bathroom. There's a restaurant at the top of the building with a patio. We didn't eat there but the menu looked great. My husband and I did have a drink on the patio and were treated to fireworks going off in town, which was great. Every staff member we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. With all that this hotel has to offer, on a budget and in such an excellent location, I'd go back in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone. |
