San Juan Beach Hotel, San Juan traveler review

Do not stay Visited: September 2008
Posted by fgdhgksdkcjs
I stayed in San Juan Beach Hotel for a weekend in September 2008. The hotel is very modest, the room furnished with very old furniture and curtains with holes, but considering the star rating I wouldn’t expect anything more. That is not the point. The point is that the hotel service is absolutely horrible. From day one my friend and me had nothing but problems. The entrance to the beach was locked. It took them one full day (and that is after our repeated requests) to open the door. But the highlight of the stay was the professional camera disappearing from the room without a trace. We left for a couple of hours and upon our return, the camera was gone. So was the old mp3 player that was inside my backpack – so whoever stole it went through my stuff! Well, even if these items were not stolen by the hotel staff, they were definitely stolen by someone who had access to the room key since the door lock wasn’t broken. We reported the incident to the hotel personnel immediately, and that is when the nightmare started. First, I was told that the hotel had nothing to do with it and that upon check-in we signed a paper according to which the hotel is not responsible for valuables stored in the room. But even so, some concern would be nice. Instead, the person we were dealing with was extremely rude and insulting.

I Love The Water Club!!!! Visited: September 2008

Since the moment you arrive to the hotel you feel like you are home with all the greetings and smile, The restaurant Tangerine is inthe loby floor with an excellent food and quality service, the elevators with waterfalls caught my impression. This was really cool!! Then the Wet bar its at the roof top with a expectacular view of Isla Verde and the ocean... The weekends they have Djs palying upstairs kinda loungy music It was great! We had a problem with our a/c but it was fixed right away and the gm David apologized to us and offered free drinks for this inconvinience!! He was great! All of the staff is great!!I Truly recommend this hotel to everyone!!

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn, Northeast Coast traveler review

This is the best in Luquillo. Visited: August 2008
Posted by finniky_frank
I love this place. I used to live in Luquillo, and thought about renting out a house on the beach. However, that was before I found out this place just opened. Stay here! You won't be disappointed if you're looking for a place off the beaten path with the feel of a five-star B&B.

The staff is five star. The complimentary breakfasts are delicious, and the Kioskos are only a 15 minute walk if you want to experience the ultimate in culinary variety. (I recommend #2 - La Parilla).

Luquillo appears to be undergoing a renaissance period at the moment. While it used to be a bit run-down, this B&B and a few other new establishments really lend some good credo to the place.

They give you beach chairs and towels to lounge out at La Pared, and there's an outdoor shower for rinsing off at the end of the day.

I saw 100 baby leatherback trails going from a tiny hole in the sand into the water in the morning during my run on the beach. I think I missed the exodus by about 15 minutes. You won't get that in San Juan.

For anybody unfamiliar with Luquillo, I'd recommend researching it a bit, or asking folks what their impression is of this Puerto Rican town. I love it for what it is, and hope people can accept that it's the best of both worlds.

It was unbelievable! Visited: September 2008

The Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn is in as many words, unbeatable for the price.

We had a spectacular third story, balcony beach-view room with all expected amenities. It was very quiet and peaceful, with an amiable surf-instructor to be found on the beach almost every day!

It is a must see!

It was everything I wanted. Visited: August 2008

I stayed here with my husband, whom was on business. While he worked, I enjoyed myself at the breathtaking rooftop lounge area in a very comfortable bed, sipping a margarita.

The pool was also on the rooftop, and had an infinity feel to it, as it was surrounded by glass.

At night, I would go to have a fabulous dinner at the restaurant. We also tried the Sushi bar, which was fresh and delightful.

The beach in front was subtle and very inviting. The rooms were breezy, and had a designer touch.

I greatly recommend the hotel. I can't wait to be back.

I love this hotel so much. It's located in front of the beach with free beach towels, chairs and umbrellas. There is a beach waitress who serves you something to drink or eat. Kevin, the beach guy, is awesome, too. In fact, everything is great -especially the roof top bar with that spectacular view!

I will really recommend for everybody to stay at this spectacular hotel - and the people are so friendly!

This was a memorable experience! Visited: August 2008

The Water and Beach Club was a wonderful hotel with lovely people! From the moment we arrived, the bellmen greeted us at the door with a big smile, and the front desk staff was amazing with their wonderful service.

The room was awesome! It was a little small for the accommodations, but we were not there all the time. The TV didn't work well due to weather conditions, but it was fixed inmediately.

Our check out day was really sad. We didn't wanted to go. We made so many friends at this hotel!

You will love the service here, and the way they treat you. It's like home. Thank you Water and Beach Club for making my experience memorable. We will come back with our kids!

Guesthouse 57, San Juan traveler review

This is a hot guesthouse in San Juan with great apartments and affordable prices. Visited: July 2008

I stayed in a cute studio apartment. It had everything I needed - a flat panel TV, wireless Internet, stainless steel kitchen, bathroom, comfortable queen sized bed - the works!

There are other apartments in the building, but it's a very private and warm feeling in the building. There´s a laundry room in the back, and an outdoor shower (perfect to clean up all the sand after a day at the beach). There´s even a beautiful mango tree for your breakfast smoothie!

I am definitely coming back.

I stayed at the Coral Princess Inn, and it was wonderful.

The rooms were clean, and the staff was excellent. Also, the showers were hot.

It is a great place if you plan on playing. It's in a great location, right on the beach.

Parking was a bit difficult, but not a concern.

They offered five star service, and other items were okay. Visited: September 2008

When coming to the hotel, it can be noticed from a block away by the blue/black lights that illuminate from the windows. At night, it's just so cool.

When I arrived at the hotel, the white drapes that hang in the foyer seemed so cool and inviting. The bell staff were on their game - even though there seemed to be a function of some sort. There were lots of well dressed and good looking people. Music happened to be my style, so I was happy about that.

Maria, at the front desk, was so nice and warm. She explained all the services of the hotel and what to expect.

I was thrilled to finally see my room. It was all in white, with the blue lights that softened the room. There were other lights in the room, should you want to work instead of play. I enjoyed the beds and the h20 amenities.

The hotel was a little worn - but not terribly. I finally got myself in order, and went to the roof top bar. It was very busy. I really enjoy hotels with night life, but not over the top issues such as not being able to get a drink. There was a little dancing, but mostly lounging. I enjoyed it, and the people I met.

The next I really dug on the beach service, and the fact that the hotel was right on the beach. I only stayed for two days, which was a bummer.

I loved the food, service, and the design. I will return for a longer stay in the new future.

It was excellent. Visited: September 2008

The InterContinental is excellent. We were given the royal treatment, as it was our special 25th Silver wedding anniversary.

Our Junior Suite was excellent, and the room service was fantastic.

We recommend this hotel. Everyone here was professional and helpful, and went out of their way to make us comfortable.

We will be back.

Oceana Hostal Playero, San Juan traveler review

It was not so great. Visited: May 2008

The room was extremely small. There was barely enough room to get around the bed.

Also, the bathroom seemed poorly constructed, and the water pressure was low.

The front desk clerks seemed like they were high on drugs.

If we walked to the beach, we had to walk past a building that was all tagged up with graffiti and looked dangerous. It seemed like the hotel was in a dicey neighborhood.

I brought my three teenagers to this hotel, and everyone loved it! I could let them swim in the pool and ocean without worry. The pool is open 24 hours - so we were swimming from midnight to 2 am the night we arrived!

They had great restaurants, and it was in a great location. It was fun for all of us!

San Juan Water & Beach Club Hotel, San Juan traveler review

San Juan Water & Beach Club is still chic and offers great service. Visited: August 2008
Posted by desireshotels
I stayed at the Water Club in March 2004, and I loved it. Though, back then, the people were not as friendly as the hotel was so new and awarded so many accolades.

The hotel needs a little love, but they have a great guest program called Your Desires. I love the wet bar and lounge on the roof, and the beach service - mojitos and more mojitos.

I paid $149 for the city view, but they bumped me up to partial ocean view. I loved seeing the ocean in the morning.

Also, I really enjoyed the dinner in Tangerines.

Oceana Hostal Playero was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. It was in an excellent location, and they offered great service at a very reasonable price.

I would stay here again -and recommend it to everyone. If not staying at the Ritz kinds of hotels, this is the place.

Villa Montana Beach Resort, Isabela traveler review

Villa Montana Beach is Paradise found. Visited: July 2008
Posted by lauderdale66
My husband and I just returned from Villa Montana Beach Resort, and we had a lovely time.

We had the chance to attend a destination wedding, as my cousin was getting married at the resort. It was a hassle-free direct flight from Ft. Lauderdale into the Aguadilla airport.

My cousin had arranged through the resort to have all of her guests picked up in a town car, this saved us from renting a car but it was available if we needed it. It was a short drive, only fifteen minutes or so down rural roads, and as we turned the corner there was this beautiful Caribbean paradise. I can see why she chose it.

Our villa had breathtaking views of the crystal blue Caribbean Sea, and from our private verandah we enjoyed amazing sunsets that we still talk about. The wedding was beautiful overlooking the ocean at dusk.– it made me wish that I had found this place 15 years ago when my husband and I were married.

The staff made us feel welcomed, and they always had a hello and a warm smile as we passed them around the grounds.

We were here for four days, and there was so much to do we had a hard time deciding how to spend our free time. My husband and I went horseback riding along the secluded beach, and also took a great mountain bike ride into lush green forests.

The setting of the Villa Montana Beach Resort allowed us to rekindle our romance and get back in touch with the great outdoors. We have great memories of our trip, and hope to come back again one day.

Oceana Hostal Playero, San Juan traveler review

It was just okay. Visited: August 2008
Posted by ashleyf,
The hotel was just okay - definitely okay for the price.

First, upon check in we were given a small room with two double beds, a sink, and a mini fridge. I had reserved a suite with a full kitchen, dining area, separate living area, and separate bedroom with king bed. My husband went to the front desk, and they were happy to change it.

Also, the light fixture in the living area was large, and had room for six bulbs. However, only two were working. By day six of our stay only one was working. We told the front desk, but it was not replaced. Also, there was one bulb out in the dining room fixture.

In addition, my son had thrown up on one of the towels, and I left it in the bathroom for the maid to change. She didn't. She just folded it up and put it back on the shower floor to use as a mat. Maybe she didn't notice, but that means they re-use dirty towels.

Other than that, I would stay here again for the price. Just make sure you are looking at what your were promised -and the details of cleanliness.

Ocean Villas II - Rio Mar Beach Resort, Northeast Coast traveler review

This has great potential, but needs some TLC. Visited: August 2008
Posted by bgm1213
We just spent nine nights in a two-bedroom Ocean Villa. The villas have potential to be a fantastic resort, but they need some TLC.

Upon arrival, there was not a person to be found! We had to find the key in a desk drawer and search for our room until a maintenance employee came and helped us.

The unit was very spacious, but we found the kitchen in need of some better cleaning. The external cabinets were "sticky", and some of the cookware was found dirty in the cabinets. Also, the rugs in the bedrooms and living area were quite stained. When we inquired at the "concierge", we were told this was one of the best units there!

Also, the concierge was almost never there. When she was, she was of almost no help! We used the concierge service at the Ro Mar for any help with activities or restaurants. They were very helpful and friendly.

The pools and hot tub were beautiful, but the hot tub was broken for a few days and the "infinity" feature of the pool was also broken. The beach was beautiful with soft, brown sand and nice waves. It was very clean.

The hotel next door was lovely, and it was nice to be able to use their facilities. Overall, it was a very nice place, but needs some TLC.
