Staying at the Luquillo Inn was like staying with family you like.
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The location of the Inn was very central to the Northeast Puerto Rico activities – San Juan, Fajardo, El Yunque and the beach! The inn is clean and well maintained. They really care about their property, and it shows.
Little amenities like beach towels, snorkeling equipment, and bottled water were available at the front office. Breakfast was freshly made when you arrived in the morning - and fruit, bagels, and pastries were set out to start you off.
Luquillo is a small town that looks a little depressed. However, we felt very safe walking around, and we found some great places to eat, and lovely beaches to lounge on.
The beach directly in front of the inn was not a good swimming beach. However, a three-block walk up the beach led us to a lovely calm watered beach that was perfect for swimming and play.
The view from the room was just as shown on the web site. It was divine and tranquil.
We also did the Bio bay kayak tour that was suggested on the Inn’s web site, and had a great experience with a safe, knowledgeable tour company. We did, however, need to find our own way to the harbor area for take off. That was a little bit of a challenge, and did not save us that much off the price of the tour.
I’d definitely stay at Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn again.

I love this place. I used to live in Luquillo, and thought about renting out a house on the beach. However, that was before I found out this place just opened. Stay here! You won't be disappointed if you're looking for a place off the beaten path with the feel of a five-star B&B.
The staff is five star. The complimentary breakfasts are delicious, and the Kioskos are only a 15 minute walk if you want to experience the ultimate in culinary variety. (I recommend #2 - La Parilla).
Luquillo appears to be undergoing a renaissance period at the moment. While it used to be a bit run-down, this B&B and a few other new establishments really lend some good credo to the place.
They give you beach chairs and towels to lounge out at La Pared, and there's an outdoor shower for rinsing off at the end of the day.
I saw 100 baby leatherback trails going from a tiny hole in the sand into the water in the morning during my run on the beach. I think I missed the exodus by about 15 minutes. You won't get that in San Juan.
For anybody unfamiliar with Luquillo, I'd recommend researching it a bit, or asking folks what their impression is of this Puerto Rican town. I love it for what it is, and hope people can accept that it's the best of both worlds.

The Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn is in as many words, unbeatable for the price.
We had a spectacular third story, balcony beach-view room with all expected amenities. It was very quiet and peaceful, with an amiable surf-instructor to be found on the beach almost every day!
It is a must see!

The villa was absolutely beautiful. The actual villas were much more beautiful than the pictures showed. They were very spacious, secure, and quiet. The resort was a little community in itself.
The El Yunque rainforest was about ten minutes from the resort - and a must see.
We were very pleased with our stay.

We had a wonderful time at the resort.
The staff was excellent. Damon is definitely an asset to the resort. On our last day, we went to San Juan and lost our keys to the rental car. The only people we knew in Puerto Rico were the staff at Luquillo. We called the office, and Damon helped us locate the car rental company. He went above and beyond to keep us happy while at the resort. And, after after checking out, he helped us when we were stranded at the beach.
I would recommend Luquillo Sunrise to anyone and everyone. We will definitely be returning next year. Thanks for everything - you guys are the best!

This is a great spot not too far from the capital of San Juan. It is also next to Route 3, which gives you access to a lot of other places on the island.
El Yunque was wonderful, and I had a great time.
The staff was great. For the poster who didn't want to carry their own stuff, then don't go on vacation. It's no one's job to carry your stuff.
The parking was a little of a hassle, but its very safe for your vehicle. The satellite needs more channels because there was not much to watch at night when relaxing in the lovely rooms (with great views of the beach).
The breakfast was good, and you don't have to eat here if you are diabetic. The local food was great, but I would not go to kiosk #2 because it was ridiculously overpriced.
The staff was great, but the guests were horrible. People didn't even say "good morning". I mean, you don't have to make friends, but the guest should all at least say hi to the other guests - no class!
I will be back in December or January. I'm building three houses here, and I love this Inn so much I will be staying in it again!

Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn is a quaint little bed and breakfast located in the small town of Luquillo.
Luquillo itself is in the early stages of development, and its greatest assets are the beaches out front. Where the hotel is located, there are new businesses developing - including a wonderful restaurant called Guavas! The people of Luquillo are very friendly and helpful, too.
The hotel itself is a new hotel with clean rooms and wonderful staff. Management and employees work together wonderfully. Captain Sherry and Demian work together managing the place, and it is very obvious they take much pride in their jobs.
I would recommend this hotel anyone!

I really liked our stay at this Inn, but it isn't for everyone.
I wouldn't recommend it to people with diabetes who need to eat low carb. All the breakfasts, although pretty, were carb rich - mainly pancakes, French toast, waffles, etc. There was also fruit, but that is also a no-no for diabetics.
Another thing that bothered me was the lack of help taking luggage upstairs. I am a very small woman, and it was difficult to get my luggage up the stairs by myself. When I asked for help at the office, they said there was no one else there to help.
Also, this is a small Inn, and the parking situation is difficult. Sometimes we had to leave our keys at the office at night because we were one of the last ones in and had to park in front of the other cars. At least they were nice enough to move the cars around. Although, I didn't find this out until the last night and had to worry someone would need to go out before us the rest of the days.

It is a good hotel option, although it does have some drawbacks.Visited: July 2008

If you want to stay in Luquillo, but don't like (or simply can't afford) big resorts like El Conquistador, Luquillo Sunrise is a lovely option. It was not opulent, but pleasant and very clean with a beautiful ocean view and an amazingly helpful and responsive staff. Breakfast was pretty good, too.
Luquillo itself wasn't a very pleasant town. It was rundown, kind of bordering on a slum-like feel. That was a definite drawback for my husband and me because there was nothing else to suggest that it should be a resort area. Its presence in the area felt almost incongruous.
The beach was pretty, but very narrow. The area immediately across the street was not safe for swimming, either. The area that was safe for swimming was kind of crowded, and it was a relatively long walk if you wanted to be able to run back into your room to, say, use the bathroom.
If you chose to drive, parking was hard to come by. I was told that July is the worst month for crowding at the beaches so you should factor that in.
The general area was, however, a good one for easy access to all the east coast has to offer (which is a lot). And, when you're sitting on your balcony, sipping rum and coke, and looking out at the Atlantic, you can forget about what's next door or down the street.

My husband and I spent our last two days in Puerto Rico (out of seven) at the Luquillo Beach Sunrise Inn. We found such amazing hospitality at this hidden away inn on the beach!
They offered excellent restaurant referrals and perfect directions for the Bio Bay and catamaran ride in Fajardo. We had an easy time finding our way around in the rental car because their directions were so accurate!
Also, we cannot say enough about the wonderful morning breakfast they offered! We would recommend this inn to singles, couples, families and elderly people. Thanks for making us feel welcome!

A Northeast Coast travel review
This is the best side of the island.

I highly recommend this place. Luquillo is probably in the list of top three beaches on the island.
At Luquillo Sunrise Inn, they have a warm friendly atmosphere, too. Marsha and Gary are great hosts.
The rooms are very clean, and the staff is very open and conversive.
El Junque rainforst is minutes away (inside- La Mina falls is a refreshing and exhilarating experience). This is one of many trails within the forest.
The overall feel is native island one. I have been to San Juan four times before - I love El Morro and Old San Juan. However, when you're ready for a different kind of experience, try this. I return to work rejuvenated and refreshed.

This bed and breakfast is a wonderful find, and a great respite from greater San Juan.
If you're looking for a little peace and quiet, with not too many "frills" within 30 minutes of the airport, try Luquillo Sunrise. The rates are reasonable, and the staff is super friendly.

Condo’s need a major reconstruction, we where unable to sleep in the condo because the AC unit was too loud! Even worse you could not sit outside because the exhaust vents out HEAT onto the small balcony. The Rio Mar Realty was no help because the condos are privately owned. Nothing is included, No Bar, No Beach umbrellas, Hot tub was broken, No amenities and don’t forget to bring your own Toilet Paper.
WhereToStay.com comment: Mike, sorry you had a bad experience renting from Rio Mar Realty. I believe if you had rented from WhereToStay.com you would have had a very different experience. The villas we represent, like the one pictured, are impeccably maintained, newly remodeled, and even have a concierge to help you. This is not true of the whole complex. Our villas have a full kitchen and you have full access to the hotel next door and all its amenities. This is one of the most popular villas on the site and everyone we send loves it. Many repeat guests. Sorry you had a bad experience.

We spent four nights at the Luquillo Sunrise. It was a wise choice!
The hostpitality offered by Gary Neff and his staff was exemplary! If you've rented a car, this hotel puts you in position to enjoy lots of great activities on the east coast.
I understand the 14 rooms are usually filled. I recommend you book early!
