| The location is great, with a great beach. They were in the middle of renovations on some of the floors, but what was done was done nicely. Our room was small, but clean and up to date. The lobby really needs to be spruced up more, and attention to detail is what will help pull up the ratings of this hotel. |

| My boyfriend surprised me with a trip to Puerto Rico, and this was the hotel he chose for us. He is a GM of a high end hotel in Chicago, so we got a very nice room. The view was very nice, and we went to bed each night listening to the ocean. I also enjoyed watching the ships go out to sea. The pool was great, but the beach was even better. We ate at the restaurant one night. It was okay, but I've had better food. I still can't complain, though. If I had a chance, I would stay here again. |

| We love Puerto Rico and we had a great time at ESJ Towers! The people there could not have been nicer. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was the best. We played ping-pong and billiards, swam in the pool, and enjoyed the view from the balcony in our unit. It was breathtaking, to say the least. Everything was exactly as stated on their web site. When we return to San Juan, we will rent here again. |

This is a great location that is practical, efficient and affordable. Visited: December 2009 |

| Ten minutes and $15 from the airport, this hotel is ideally located from anything one could possibly want in a Caribbean getaway. There is no need to rent a car as everything is nearby. This affordable, unpretentious little place is undergoing some renovations, so if a little dust in the hallway is a problem to you, spend three times more next door at the huge Marriott. It is right on a beautiful beach with lounge chairs and umbrellas. You can mix with other guests or locals in the hotel club, or at the daily beach party, or keep to yourself. Vendig is off Ashford Street, and has every type of store, restaurant, and American amenity you can think of (Walgreens, Starbucks, Cartier, Gucci, Ferragamo, and Louis Vuitton). Deco architecture and local art are everywhere, and Old San Juan is a few miles away. It's a safe walk if you want some exercise, and you will pass other beaches as well as find many health conscious Puerto Ricans jogging at all times of day and evening. If you're a family or want a walled, locked-in-fortresses with no connection to the local atmosphere, culture, or vernacular, then this is not the place for you. If you're a single or "young" open minded couple who like easy-going places with real flavor, interaction with the locals, and proximity to just about everything, I would suggest the Atlantic Beach Hotel. |

| After being to San Juan three times in one year and visiting Mojito's every time, we can't wait to go back! The Mojitos were incredible, and the mystery house salad dressing was out of this world! We had different food each time and never had bad service or food. We can't wait to have some real Mojitos again! |

| My husband and I just returned from staying here for four days. We were checked into a room with broken air conditioning. The front desk quickly placed us in a new room. The only problem was that they gave us a room already in use. We used the key and opened the door to walk in on other guest. So, back to the front lobby and this time we got a good room. It was large and mostly clean. The hotel was at full capacity. I had anticipated a quiet relaxing trip. Instead, there were mobs of kids running the halls. At 10 pm they rode the elevator up and down screaming and banging on doors. At midnight, we were fed up. The front desk said they had received numerous complaints and were sending security. It did finally stop. We were able to hear the neighbors through the walls. Since we were placed next to a room with an infant, we could hear the off and on crying. In the morning we had no water at all. There was none coming out of the sink or shower. We were told it was because of the high capacity of people. This meant showering at night, or late afternoon. I would also have let the water run before using it. The water would come out brown and then turn over to clear. We used bottle water to brush our teeth. We did eat at the two restaurants. I would rate them as average, and not worth the $100 each we spent. You must get a rental car. It was so much cheaper, and the $20 per day cost was well worth it. I would not stay at this hotel again. Although, I don't plan on visiting Puerto Rico again, either. |

It was so awful I left mid-stay for another hotel. Visited: June 2009 |

| This hotel was so horrific, I left it mid-vacation to stay at another hotel. I have decided the nasty staff, gross rooms and unkempt amenities were all tied for what I hated most about this hotel. There was mold in the shower. The hotel boasts a rooftop pool, yet the signs for the pool, rooftop bar and fitness center all indicate hours that are incorrect. We were incredibly disappointed to find that upon entering the pool area, the pool was closed and locked off to guests. When we did attempt to enjoy the pool, we found the pool bar wasn't open at all. We had to go back down to the casino to get a beverage. Also, when I called for room service, I had to make four separate calls to place an order. Once placed, it arrived almost an hour later. It was cold, and one of the two parts of the order was wrong. I had to call five or six different numbers (concierge, room service, front desk, etc) before I got through to someone to tell them that the order was wrong. No apologies were made for messing up my order, and when I asked to send it back, they said that I should leave it outside. I asked to have something else brought and they said the kitchen was closed and I was out of luck. So there I was, over two hours later, now really hungry but unable to be helped whatsoever. I asked for it not to be on my bill. The man at the front desk said "no problem". We passed by the executive suites the next day to double check that we had not be charged. The woman working assured us that it had been taken off. Upon check out, we found it had not been taken off. I love Puerto Rico, and visit several times a year. However, I will never come back here. You can get more bang for your buck many other hotels in Condado. |

| I liked everything - location, comfort, and value, but especially the warm of its people. I had nothing to regret at all. I recommend this fabulous, and fairly priced hostel to everyone who is looking for a special, different, casual, and cozy place to hide and drain stress. I will surely come back soon. |

| Oceana was a lovely seaside hotel, perfect for a single person who wants to save money and enjoy family friendly service. Everyone here was as mi familia (primos - cousins)! This newly renovated hotel was a comfortable place to relax after a hot day on the beach or coming in from a daily tour. City Prada bus line C53 takes you into Old San Juan. Also, look for the free tourmobile near the end of the line to take passengers to the forts. There were shops and merchants near the docks. You can also arrange inexpensive tours with the hotel front desk to Bacardi Rum factory, El Yunque Rainforest, and night kayak trip to Bio Luminscent Bay (a must do trip)! The beds were comfortable and the rooms were cozy and cool. I enjoyed wonderful authentic Puerto Rican dinners (low cost); and very good drinks! Security was excellent! A walk to Ocean Park beach was just one block away. You get more bang for the buck at Oceana. Don't be fooled by other reviews. I had a lovely time and will definitely return in the future with friends and family! |

| Cheap isn't always necesarily the best - you always get what you pay for. They had a nice receptionist with the exception of one young lady named Apple. She was lacking in customer service skills. Prior to check in, she reminded me three times in less than three minutes not to lose the key as she was shaking the key in my face saying that she will charge me $100 if it is lost. I thought that was excessive considering she let me wait three hours before she would check me in by 3 pm. Supposedly they were cleaning the room. By the size of the room, it should had not taken three hours to clean since the bed took up three quarters of the room and I was the only one waiting at the reception area. There was no available telephone in the rooms, and the only one pay phone in the building was not working. The wi-fi did not exist in Oceana, and the dsl was not working. Also, the building had very low water pressure. The shower was just trickling. The bed sheets were not changed for one week. |

The building had very low water pressure, and the shower was just trickling. The bed sheets were not changed for one week, and the room was dirty and dusty. The continental breakfast consisted of one banana and couple pieces of toast. In addition, during the middle of the week, I ran out of toilet paper and it took them half of the day to get some more (because the ladies had to go shopping for the supplies). To get into the building, first you need to have one key to open the front door, then you need the same key to open the door to the stairwell next to the reception area. Finally, you need a separate key to get into your room. I felt like I was trying to get into Fort Knox. It wasn't the most quiet room, either. All I could hear was the airport and trash trucks in front of my room. Also, how do I iron clothes with no iron? I am still trying to figure that one out. They did have a somewhat acceptable bathroom, though. Don't think you are going to sleep because the curtains are so thin, even at dark it still looks like it's noon it's so bright. Finally, as far as the swimming pool is concerned, I suggest you bring a portable heater. The water was so cold - even though it's the Caribbean! |

| I took my daughter on a vacation to Puerto Rico, and we stayed at the hotel from the movie The Shining - at least that is what it looked like and felt like. The general manager, Carlos, was rude and did not follow through on our problems. Neither did the hotel guest manager Ms. Tejada. They never dealt with our toilet that was overflowing, the CD player that did not work, or the fridge and coffee pot that did not work. What beach? All the guests were next door at the Caribe Hilton, for that is where the fun was! There was nothing going on at the Normandie! The management was poor. Our room smelled like sewer! I have been in Puerto Rico three times now. This was a very bad hotel! |

I do not recommend staying here. Visited: April 2009 |

| We reserved a three-bedroom apartment. However, when we arrived, there were only two beds without any blankets, and only three pillows. Also, the living room furniture was torn. One room was halfway painted. They had gay porno magazines as curtains. In addition, the bath mat was extremely filthy. The owner should at least paint and buy some curtains, blankets, furniture covers, and clean bath mats. I was here for one week and never saw the manager cleaning the grounds or doing laundry. The Laundry room was a total mess. I would hate to see the living conditions of people who gave good reviews. I would not recommend this place - not even to my dog. |

| This is my second stay at this hotel and it just got better! They continue to surprise me. They have added a new continental breakfast buffet and complimentary happy hour every day! It also appears they renovated the rooftop area. It looked great and, of course, the drinks were amazing (strawberry mojitos!). My room was comfortable, as usual. I always get the ocean front room. Service was so wonderful as William, Maria, Matteo and Kevin greeted me daily. This hotel is not for everyone - only the young at heart. They have great parties on the weekends, too. I love this hotel! |

I was very disappointed. Visited: April 2009 |

| I stayed at the Rio Mar for a week. The staff was very unorganized and slow. Be careful if you are going to use their transportation. They use a third party transportation service, and the staff will tell you one amount the driver will tell you another. I would ask the driver how much you are going to pay before getting into the vehicle. I went to the Rio Mar for a wedding. We had 43 people at the wedding and the Rio Mar set up only 16 chairs. We had to wait 30 minutes to get enough chairs. Like I said earlier, very slow. The management was not willing to help out us with our issues. They actually sided with the other party or employees. I am very disappointed with the Rio Mar, and will never stay at a Wyndham resort ever again. |

Raices provided excellent food, service and Mojitos. |
|
| Posted by reggie433 | |
| My wife and I love this quaint restaurant in Old San Juan. The Mojitos are excellent - as is the Pina Coloda that is served in a tin cup (it was hard to limit myself to two). The food was excellent. I recommend the Churassco Tornado - at $25 it is the most expensive item on the menu, but it will blow your mind with flavor and tenderness. The service was also excellent, and the staff was very friendly with a focus on the customer. I recommend you stop at Raices - enjoy the Puerto Rican/Cuban food and top it off with a good hot cup of Joe and the Three Leches cake...you will not be disappointed! |

| We paid for the hotel through Priceline upfront. On checking out, we were surprised to find a "resort fee" of 14% on our bill. When we questioned the manager, she said that they can add whatever they want to the bill -- incredible! We ate poolside once. It was $41 for the two of us! We didn't eat in the other restaurants, but we checked out the menus and they looked way overpriced as well. We took our rental car and ate outside the complex. The downside to the rental car was the parking fee. It was $20/day, but you absolutely need one. Otherwise, you would spend an enormous amount of money on food, and there really wasn't much to do at the resort. It is unfortunate this resort had to "hide" their fees and had over-priced food, as I really thought the hotel and its location on the beach were very nice. |
