End of the Rainbow! Visited: May 2005 |

I recently visited St. Barts for the 3rd time in the past year and its really the end of the rainbow! I Had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Carl Gustaf and it is truly one of the best hotels in the world! The staff is pleasant and willing to go out of their way for a question or assistance. The sunset over the harbour while sipping your favorite cocktail is a daily event and cannot be missed!, it is breath taking! The food at the hotel is the best you will taste in your life! Rooms are clean, well kept and decorated. Continental breakfast on your private patio is nice then jump in your private plunge pool, doesnt get much better than this!,Donald Trump would be happy! Shell beach is walking distance and great for snorkling. Shopping in the Harbour is down the hill, great walking down but a task walking back up, so take your jeep! St. Barts is a little pricey due to the exchange on the euro but the euro has fallen and makes this gem of a island more affordable! If you are thinking of it just go! |

I recently visited St. Barts for the third time in one year, and it was really the end of the rainbow! I had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Carl Gustaf, and it was truly one of the best hotels in the world!
The staff was pleasant and willing to do what ever it took when I had a question or needed assistance. The sunset over the harbour while sipping my favorite cocktail was a daily event, and a must do! It was breathtaking!
The food at the hotel was the best I have tasted in my life. the rooms were clean, well kept and decorated. Continental breakfast on the private patio was nice. Then we could jump in our private plunge pool. It couldn't get much better than that! Donald Trump would probably be happy here!
Shell Beach was within walking distance and a great snorkeling area. Shopping in the harbour was down the hill. It was great walking down, but a task walking back up, so take your jeep!
St. Barts was a little pricy due to the exchange on the euro, but the euro has fallen and makes this gem of a island more affordable. If you are thinking of it - just go! |

This is a great hotel if you want your privacy. Staff is accommodating albeit not extremely smart, but they do try very hard and do everything with a smile. The restaurant has really gone downhill and I would suggest going somewhere else, as there are so many other places to eat. The breakfast they include is okay, but you would expect more when paying such a high rate per night.
If you can venture out of hotel living, you might be better off renting a villa, but be sure to see all aspects of the villa prior.
All in all, it is a great place to stay as long as you don’t mind not being on the beach (which is not really necessary when there are so many beaches to chose from a short drive away). The private pool is great to relax in.
Make sure you ask for a room that is not on the street and instead is a quiet room. |

Exquisite spot - poor communication. Visited: October 1999 |

I feel that we were disadvantaged because of the particular time we went to the Gustaf. It was late October and on the cusp of "the season". We did not have the experienced wait staff, the housekeeping staff lost our laundry, the Gustaf boats were in for repairs - no one told us as we waited to board for our "sunset cruise", and although the hotel was relatively vacant, the kitchen ran out of food on the menu.
They tried their best to make things right, but something was lost in the translation. I would not suggest going during "off season". The hotel is beautiful beyond words and worth the effort to get to such a breathtaking vista. We would return, but in season. |

This is the place to go if you want to feel like royalty. The rooms were spectacular...they spared no expense. The private plundge pool is a great touch. I'd almost look forward to getting back to the room after a day on the beautiful beaches. The service is impeccable...they had a way of making you feel like you were the only one there. My fiance and I have been to many hotels on many islands and none have compared to the St. Barth's Hotel Carl Gustaf!! Treat yourself. |

| Aaaah! This hotel is fine! Nestled on the hillside overlooking the picturesque capital city of Gustavia, the Carl Gustaf hotel is a four-star luxury hotel comprised exclusively of suites with private swimming pools, the only resort of its kind in the Caribbean. Our visit only... |
