5.0 stars This was a small, beautiful resort with great staff. Visited: May 2005

My wife and I were guests at this property from May 5 to May 11, 2005. We could not have been more thrilled.

The staff was wonderful. The restaurant was incredible, with some of the best dining on the island. We got to know the wait staff. Although the resort's own restaurant was one of the best on the island, the staff had great recommendations for other places to dine.

Our room was beautiful (we had a Garden Bungalow). For the island, the bathroom was massive. The location of the propery was incredible. Although it was only a ten-minute drive from Gustavia, its location through the hills of the island made it seem completely removed from that city.

From the moment we arrived at the airport, there was this sense that we were their guests, and we were treated as guests (rather than as customers or clients).

4.0 stars It is beautiful, but not romantic. Visited: May 2004

For sure the hotel is very beautiful, and the beach is just one of the best of the island. But it is not very quiet. There is always lounge music at the swimming pool.

Also, the restaurant can get very noisy with some groups, and the beautiful ocean rooms lack very much privacy.

In addition, the service is also very hip and it feels too much like home - which is too bad!

4.0 stars Beautiful hotel but less perfect service.... Visited: May 2004

Both the hotel and the beach are beautiful and quiet, the beach being one of the most beautiful of the island. But the services is not up to the place and the food is not that fine. For that, the Guanahani is really better.

5.0 stars Truly French and beautiful. Visited: May 2002

My husband and I had a remarkable time at the Hotel St. Barth this past May. The service at the hotel was impeccable and the staff was very friendly and nice.

The hotel was located near everything - beaches and restaurants. We rented a car through the hotel, and breakfast was free every morning. The rooms were beautiful. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

We visited other hotels on the island, but this one was more intimate, private, and the was location better than all the rest. You really cannot ask for more when you are on vacation!

5.0 stars A truly hidden paradise! Visited: August 2001

First, St. Barts is far and away the best Caribbean island for those who are looking for an intimate island atmosphere that presents the finer things in life with French flair. The Hotel Isle-de-France is the nectar of this island! The hotel is intimate, quaint and simple in an upscale, French way (and fresh).

We stayed 10 days for our honeymoon in the main building in a beachfront junior suite. The accommodations, grounds, beach, and dining is c'est manifique! I cannot begin to say how splendid the staff is. We were late to arrive due to the airlines which also lost our bags. Prior to arriving at the hotel, the staff was notified by the hotel driver that we did not have our bags. Subsequently, the hotel staff provided us clothing on loan until our bags arrived; salvaging what started off as a rough trip. A few hours into our stay and we were completely made to forget our arduous journey!

Visit and you'll see! By the way, everything on the island is an adventurous drive (similar to southern Italy) - rent a jeep and explore!

5.0 stars French hospitality and first-class amenities. Visited: May 2000

Isle de France is a beautiful, quaint hotel tucked away at the end of a road on the white-sand Flamands Beach. The rooms are light, airy, and very roomy. All tile floors throughout and a huge bathroom with an open shower and marble tub. We stayed in a beachfront room in the main building, which I recommend. Although, the villas looked just as nice, and were located off the beaten path on gorgeous grounds. All of the staff was helpful and friendly, and most were natives of France. The atmosphere was upscale and classy, yet not stuffy or pretentious. It has a beautiful beach with chairs, umbrellas and wait service on the beach. Everything on the island is nearby and only a 20-minute drive at the most. Rent a jeep—it's fun!
