Q: My wife and I are planning on going to St. Kitts. We have a timehare in Aruba, have stayed there many times as well as St. Maarten. We very much enjoy the beaches of these islands, as well as the variety of high quality restaurants and we very much enjoy gambling all night. I am concerned after reading reviews of St. Kitts that this island may be in an early stage of development, which is great in many ways, however may not offer anywhere near the variety of quality food as we enjoy in Aruba. In addition, we are concerned that the casino in the Marriott may turn out to be "inactive" (i.e. tables either are not open, or close early)- especially since we are planning to go in late Sept.. any feedback on the restaurant selection and casino would be greatly appreciated. | A: You're hit the nail on the head! Everything that you are assuming about St. Kitts is correct. My husband and I are on the island right now (a 2 week visit)and our experiences are just as you said...restaurants are not very good at all and the Marriott Casino was pretty empty when we were there. We have vacationed in Aruba and St. Maarten as well so we know how you feel. Although, St. Kitts is a nice quiet (relative to St. Maarten) island which we like, the restaurants leave something to be desired. The Quality is just horrible. The Marriott restaurants were extremely expensive, a steak will cost you $45 (and that's US dollar!). Needless to say, we didn't eat there. There are a lot of beach restaurants at Frigate Bay which are OK but you are not going to find anything that compares to St. Maarten here on St. Kitts. Hope this helps you. |

| A: From your question I think you really know what you want and St. Kitts might disappoint you. Especially in September which is the slowest month all over the Caribbean and many hotels and restaurants close for the month. They do not have the restaurant choices you are used to either. They have s few good ones, but not the number you are used to. |
