Q: planning on travelling to st. lucia in july 2008 and want to purchase our own groceries to cook meals. could you give me a general idea of the costs? we want to make a budget out before going. for example, what are the costs of staple items such as eggs, milk, meat, vegetables, fruits, etc... i hear the costs are pretty high so we're wondering if it's more cost effective to just eat in the restaurants.
thank you. Answer

A: No, the restaurants are pretty expensive too so staying at a villa is very cost effective. Also all the villas on St Lucia come with a cook - http://www.wheretostay.com/caribbean/stlucia/villas-c116-St_Lucia.html.
I would say the cost of groceries is 20-40% more than a US grocery store. |
