I don't have one good comment to leave. I would advise everyone to avoid this resort.
The staff is unfriendly. The food is tasteless. The rooms are old and small. The main pool area has five umbrellas and three tables. They are frequently out of towels as well.
Don't waste your money. |

First, we returned to Sandals on a credit that they gave us for losing my wedding at our wedding in Negril (2008). We had chosen to go to the Grande in St Lucia. However, the utter incompetence of the staff at the head office booked us at the LA TOC instead.
We stayed in a two-floor ocean view room with pool. I have to say the best part of our stay here were the butlers, Roger and McCann. Apart from that, the food was pathetic, and they only re-stocked our fridge twice in the week when they were supposed to do it every day.
The pool never circulated. It was always cold.
There is really no reason why anyone should stay at Sandals. They are over priced and way overrated. If you stay at Sandals, you'll be disappointed. |

We just spent a week at this Sandals, anf we were disappointed.
First, let me point out that St. Lucia is a beautiful island. It will leave you breathless. Do try the Gondola tour in the rain forest - it is worth every penny.
If your stomach is a bit queasy, the one-hour ride from the airport is bound to make you sick, so do take a gravol.
As for the resort - registration was quick, the landscape was beautiful, and the room was superb. Also, they had a very nice golf course, and the caddies were great. The spa was very nice, too.
Of all the people who work here, the groundskeepers and the chambermaids were the most friendly. Whatever they get paid is not enough - they were very nice people.
The biggest advantage of staying at a Sandals was that we had access to all three Sandals on the island. The beach at Sandals Grand was the best.
The most disappointing thing was the Pavillon restaurant, which was the main breakfast dining room. Besides the fact that flies and birds are were sweeping at our food, the staff was most unfriendly.
It did not open until 7:30 am right on the nose, but they never seemed to be quite ready for people - no matter what time guests showed up.
Granted, it appeared they worked very long hours. However, breakfast time was not a pleasant experience - for them or for us.
As for the food itself, it was just okay - at least the birds seemed to like it. Oh, and coffee? Llet's just say that coffee was not their specialty. However, they did make a very good omelette.
As for the other restaurants, they did have a good French cuisine restaurant, an Italian, a steak house and a Japanese restaurant.
The Japanese (Kimono) staff was friendly, and the food was very good. The steak house - Arizona, was very good as well.
As for the bartenders - we were not sure what happened there. Except for one or two who appeared to know what they were doing and could mix a good drink without rolling their eyes at you, the rest appeared to be in training - and certainly not happy about it.
Most acted as though we were interrupting them. They did not listen to what we asked for, mixed a whole bunch of stuff together, added a lot of ice and called it a drink.
The beer was safe and good, you can't mess this up too much. However, you just can't ask for more than one at a time.
All in all, this Sandals was overrated! It was not worth the extra money, and did not compare to the Rendez-vous Resort in Castries. Of all the resorts and restaurants we have experienced in our travels, this was the worst. |

I have read some reviews posted, and it may just be because I went in March, but the staff to guest ratio was well more than needed. I felt there were at least ten staff for each guest.
We had a very nice room, with a fridge full of drinks every day. The cleaning staff was wonderful. At one point, my husband left his boxers mixed in with the blankets. We thought they were gone for good. The next day they were back!
We loved the staff, the food and the drinks, and the beach. Wow, we had the best time ever. No pressure! |

We had an amazing "weddingmoon". Visited: January 2006 |

My wife and I just came back from the wedding of our dreams. After reading a few of the postings, I felt compelled to write my experience as I cannot comprehend all these negatives.
We had ten people come over for the wedding, and they had a great time. The planning with the wedding coordinators was done professionally and effortlessly, and we really took to the two of them. They made us feel like they were planning their first wedding and made our family feel at home.
The wedding started on time, and the reception was excellent. Dinner was beyond our expecations. The entire staff at the hotel made us feel welcomed and at home. We have already booked our renewal of vows for our first anniversary.
St. Lucia is not as poor as some of you are made to believe, the island is lovely, and the people are great. We recommend this to any and everyone. |

Having been our fourth Sandals trip, (third property) this was the largest property - and bigger was not better. We paid the expense of the helicopter transfer across island, and it was well worth the cost.
Our first night we were "up-graded" to a honeymoon oceanview room. The view was great. However, the room was tired and small. We requested a room in the remodeled area, which was large and came with more amenities (plasma TV, coffee maker, stocked fridge, new air conditioner and much closer to resort activites). All of this was considered a lower category room. We spoke with another couple who had been in the same room, and they also requested transfer.
Service was fair. It appeared that the staff to guest ratio was low. We had to wait for water and drink refills during meals, dishes to be removed, and endured long wait times. My higher expectations from previous Sandals vacations fell a bit short. Most staff were trying, but it seemed obvious the workload was too demanding.
We dined at the Halycon one evening. It was a much, much smaller property. The service met my expectations, but the "locals" would pressure to buy items on the beach. There were no private beaches on St. Lucia. But Regency did not have local vendors pushing purchases.
The property and island were absoultely beautiful. This resort had more elderly couples and travelers from Europe than our past Sandals vacations.
Spa treatments were good, but did not have the co-ed steam/sauna option we enjoy.
Food, weather and beach were all good. Because of staffing and size, I think the pools could have had more attention. It is my opinion that because of the large size of this resort and so many vacationers-the details got missed.
A little tip: Make sure you don't forget your sunscreen. The sun was extremely hot!
A good time was had by all (there were four of us). However, my favorite is still Dunn's River, Jamaica (we have yet to visit Antigua).

We spent five nights in a "Water's Edge" suite. The room was very tired with less than efficient houskeeping (never replaced barware or room coffee even when asked several times). Also, the cleaning was lousy at best.
The resort also sold itself as providing 'top shelf' liquor, but this was not provided in the rooms - which was a surprise. the food quality was good to fair.
However, the setting was beautiful, and the water was great. Also, the staff was very friendly.
We are not going back, though. I'm sure there is a better value elsewhere. |

I suggest you think again before getting married here. Visited: May 2005 |

We had been looking for months for a wedding venue that we could combine with a honeymoon. As both of my parents have passed away, the thought of walking up an isle in church filled me with dread as it is every girl's dream to be walked up the isle by her father. Anyway, we came across Sandals website and were totally drawn in by "the perfect wedding of a lifetime".
The wedding co-ordinator arrived 20 minutes late when I was supposed to be getting married. I was rushed into a golf buggy and then informed that my husband-to-be was not there! I had to crouch behind a wall so he would not see me.
No sooner had my foot reached the bottom of the stairs then the wedding music began. My husband was still frantically trying to get the rings out of his pocket before I got to him.
The wedding co-ordinator was no longer to be found. The photographer was grumpy and barked orders at us to the point we said that we had had enough. In addition, we had our wedding cake pinched whilst having the awful photographs taken.
We were left alone in the pool area with the wedding office being locked up, and the wedding co-ordinator was nowhere to be seen. We then had to get a lift in the hotel shuttle bus because we had no transport to get us back to our room.
After that, we got changed and went for our supposed "wedding meal" to find out that no wedding meal had been booked.
When finally received the photographs of our wedding, three of the pictures had a semi-naked old man being massaged in the background.
I could go on forever about this as so many awful things happened on what should have been the best day of our lives.
Sandals made the whole thing meaningless - and I have to say -tacky. It cost us about £8,000.00.
Regarding the resort itself, the rooms in some areas were quite shabby, not like the fabulous rooms shown in the brochure. There were stains everywhere on the carpet, and a tap dripped constantly in our room.
Also, the wood on the door leading to the bathroom was broken.
It was a very poor country which was a shame. There was quite a contrast between Sandals and the surroundings areas. It did not seem safe to go out alone, especially in the evening.
My husband told me that he had sat in a room with five other couples who were frantically trying to organize their wedding details while he should have been getting married.
I just want to prevent this from happening to somebody else.

Don't waste your money here! Visited: April 2005 |

We stayed at Sandals Regency Golf Resort and Spa for two weeks for our honeymoon. We booked the bluff honeymoon suite with plunge pool. The holiday was very expensive, and we were really looking forward to this experience in what they claimed was "the world's most glamorous resort".
We often stay in all-inclusive resorts and were in the Dominican Republic in December, which was great value for money. However, we were looking forward to the "ultra all-inclusive" here.
When we arrived, we were 'upgraded' to a villa with a pool, and the member of concierge who escorted us claimed it was the best accommodation in the resort. This member of staff also told us our butler would unpack for us! However, he did not turn up even after being asked.
The villa was large, but just like the rest of the resort, it was very average! The TV in bedroom, telephone in bedroom and kettle were all not working. It was rectified after we complained, though. We also complained for three days about being awakened at 4.30am by dogs (plural) barking behind us. We were eventually moved back to the bluff room.
The bluff suite was very nice, but again, noisy. The bathroom en suite to the bedroom had large open vents (more like a hole with lats), rather than an extractor fan. Thus, we could hear very clearly everything going on outside - vehicles, talking, birds, etc.
The food was very, very ordinary. It would be a disgrace to even call it "world class". I asked in the La Toc restaurant if I could have plain chicken rather than stuffed with brie (as I'm pregnant). They said no! Also, the staff was abrupt and service seemed like a conveyer belt. We waited a week for reservations for this treatment. No staff wore white gloves as advertised, either.
Kimonos restaurant was the best food, and the only restaurant where food was freshly prepared rather than scolding plates which have been kept in a hot locker.
Drinks were served during the day in plastic or paper glasses (yuck) which I sent back several times as were chipped and cracked.
In addition, the night time entertainment was the worst of any all-inclusive I have ever been! We were so bored. We paid £7000 for this holiday and wish we had not! For an average sum of money, you get an average resort - but not for several thousands of pounds.
There was no point in the butler service at all. Rather than wait an hour for our butler to call us back, we made our own reservations and things.
We looked forward to the motorized water sports (all-inclusive), we were told on arrival they had removed them due to an accident.
I would only recommend this hotel if you get it for a good price, otherwise don’t bother! We found it to be very dull and average all around.

We have just returned from seven wonderful nights at the Regency and would return tomorrow. We booked a one-bedroom, oceanview penthouse suite on the bluff. It was worth every penny.
The room was beautiful - decor and cleanliness. We arrived to be told we had a personal butler. This was a new addition to some suites and certainly made us feel very special. We actually had two butlers - one did the morning shift and the other the afternoon/evening shift.
They were basically there to do whatever we wanted. We did not abuse this, but used them to make restaurant reservations, re-confirm our return flights, get laundry done, and most days they would leave canapes and a fruit platter in the room for our return from the pool at around 5:00 pm. The nicest thing they did was fill the double jacuzzi bath with water and flower petals, put candles and flowers around the bath and leave champagne on ice in the room for our return one evening. This was a very special touch and a memorable part of the Butler service. The butlers were Roger and Eustace and they were the best!
Most mornings we ordered breakfast in the room and sat on our balcony watching the cruise liners sail in to nearby Castries.
On our last evening, Roger and Eusatce wanted to do a farewell meal for us on the balcony. We ordered the food and they laid the table properly - tablecloth, candles, flowers, etc. They served each course and then left us alone until the next course. This was definitely not something to be missed - dinner by candlelight in the privacy of our own balcony, served by your personal butler.
The only disappointment with this resort was the beach. We have stayed at Sandals Antigua and Sandals Montego Bay, and the beach at the Regency didn't come anywhere near. However, the Regency had much higher standards, and the food was far superior.
We spent most days around the suites' pool and have made some very special friends from Canada, who we will hopefully meet up with again one day, maybe at Sandals.
All of the restaurants were of a good standard. The only one we didn't really like was Arizona's - ribs, burgers, etc. Kimono's was great and very entertaining. The Pitons was semi open air with a very nice atmosphere. We really enjoyed the menu here because it had an unusual mix of flavors. The Pier at the Halcyon was good, too. There was lots of fish on the menu, but be sure to book this well in advance, as it books up very quickly.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return, without a doubt. |

Sandals is an excellent resort with nice people! Visited: February 2004 |

My wife and I just came back from a week-long stay at the Sandals Regency and we had a great time. Many of the reviews on this site helped us choose this resort, and many recommendations were right on.
The Regency was the first one on the island and there are some areas of wear and tear on the place. Don't get me wrong, it was still a clean and comfortable place. But some of the rooms could have used some updating.
We stayed at one of the rooms in the main building. The room was nice and comfortable to start, but during the evening, the AC was a little loud. They were in the process of replacing all of the ACs in this building, and when we went, about 30% of them were changed. I did see one of the new ones and seems like it will make a big difference.
They were kind enough to move us over to the bluff which I would highly recommend. The views there were spectacular and we felt very exclusive having 24-hour room service and a dedicated concierge.
At times the resort seemed a little 'Cancun-ish', but this was why it was nice to stay at the bluffs where it was much more serene and private. Even if you don't stay up there, take a shuttle van up there and stay there for the day.
Most reviewers thought the food was excellent, and I would not disagree. I wouldn't necessarily say it was five-star gourmet. Although for Caribbean standards, it was. About four stars would be where I would rate it and that was plenty good for my wife and me.
Of the restaurants, Armando's was our favorite, followed by Barefoot by the Sea, The Bayside at the Grande, and finally La Toc. The food was well prepared and very tasty. They were very accommodating as they let us sample two entrees many of the times.
We spent most of our time at the Grande and they seemed to have more space for fun and sun activities. The beach at the Grande was calmer and clearer, and the Regency was a bit rougher. The golf at the Regency was sufficient, but not world class. It was a small course but very playable. The caddies were very helpful.
I had nothing really bad to say about the place. If anything, the other visitors there were a bit loud sometimes, but that's expected from American tourists (I'm an American and proud of it, but sometimes, we're all a bit loud on vacation - no disrespect intended).
Overall, the place was fantastic and I would highly recommend this place to anyone. We have been all around the Caribbean and the people here seem to genuinely welcome visitors. It's the best all-inclusive resort out there and we're already planning to return in a few years. Thanks for reading. |

This was a beautiful resort with friendly faces. I would recommend it to anyone. The only bad review was that the pictures of the hotel rooms advertised were deceiving, and there was no blow dryer in bathroom - it was by the desk by the patio door and bed. |

An absolutely amazing resort! Visited: March 2003 |

My husband and I just returned from the St. Lucia Golf & Spa Resort and can safely say we had the time of our lives. This resort definitely scored a 20 on a scale of 10 for their outstanding top notch service. Anything we wanted - they bent over backwards to get for us. We have traveled all over the Caribbean and have never seen such incredible service.
All the restaurants on this property and at the Sandals Grande were fabulous. We decided to be creative and order every item off the menu. They didn't have a problem with granting our request.
Basically, the chefs prepared small portions of all the appetizers, salads, soups, entrees, and desserts and brought everything to our table. That way we could sample each dish and not have to choose. What a way to dine in style! We definitely can't order like this at the restaurants back home.
Be sure to try the Italian food at Armando's and the surf and turf and king crab legs at Barefoot by the Sea at the Grande - delicious! The Arizona Beach Grill had the best jerk chicken wings we've ever tasted! In fact, Vanessa gave us the secret recipe with all the ingredients.
The grounds were well kept and the pool area was absolutely perfect. The ocean at the Sandals Grande was much calmer than at the Golf and Spa Resort. We had a red flag almost every day due to the ocean current being so strong, which meant we couldn't go in the ocean at all. So I would recommend taking the shuttle to the Sandals Grande at least once to partake in all the water activities. Fun, fun!
Our room was actually a lot smaller than we had expected, but we had an amazing panoramic view of the ocean, so it was okay. You really aren't in the room that much anyway. The weather was absolutely perfect. It wasn't too hot and the nice ocean breezes kept everything cool in the evenings. I would definitely recommend this resort to all my friends and family. |

My husand and I had our weddingmoon here. Everything turned out really nice. The resort was huge, so you really need to take the shuttle to get to the Sunset Bluffs. Be sure to catch the sunset there!
The place was getting a little run down in spots, but there always seemed to be someone painting or repairing something. The staff was excellent. The food was plentiful and good. It only rained one day while we were here. If you are looking for something a little more upscale, I would suggest the Sandals Grande. It was spectacular. |

I went to the Golf Resort for my honeymoon. My husband and I had the best time! I don't understand some of the negative comments people have made.
When I think of service, I think of the staff at Sandals. We took the express from Newark, and that was where the fun began. There was a Sandals rep on the plane to help out with check in. He also started the party on the plane! When we got to the resort, they accidently put us in the wrong room. To make up for the error, we got an upgrade from the original room we booked. They also went out of their way to put a smile on our face.
There were plenty of drinks made throughout the week. The food was excellent. Check out La Toc, Kimono's, and the Pier at the Halcyon. Make sure you make reservations at the restaurants that require them when you arrive.
The staff kept the party going all day and night. If you didn't want to party, there were other pools on the property that allowed your more privacy.
My husband and I had such a good time we are returning in March 2003!

My wife and I traveled to St. Lucia and stayed at the Sandals Golf and Spa. This resort was great, with lots of fun activities, and a staff that cannot be matched.
It was a true all-inclusive, unlike many others I have been to. All six resturants were top notch, not including the other resturants at the other Sandals resorts. The diving tours were great. Don't waste your money on a suite, they were on top of the hill away from everything. Instead, try to get a main pool view room, close to everything.
The crowd here was younger, mostly couples who were just married. The rooms had the four poster beds and plantation like sutters with superb views. The restaurant, Kimonos, was a blast. It was like Benihana's here in the Los Angeles area.
We were at the resort during the Sept. 11 events, we were scheduled to fly out on the 12th and Sandals did everything they could to help us out, and extend our stay at no cost to us call the airlines for us to check on flight status. This was a first class resort. |
