This was a beautiful spot. The staff took excellent care of me.
Also, there were great restaurants and bars right across the street.
The beach and the water were perfect, too. |

We have just returned from our stay at the Royal, and it was fantastic. The staff was superb, and could not do enough for us - as well as being very friendly.
The setting was perfect, and the beach was so close and very nice. There were plenty of things nearby - such as shops, bars and restaurants.
My only gripe would be the lack of choice at the hotel's restaurants, but the food is generally okay - and the staff are excellent.
I would highly recommend staying here if you visit St. Lucia! |

My fiance and I stayed at this hotel for her birthday trip and found it all as advertised. The location was perfect (we especially enjoyed the sunset each evening from our balcony, overlooking the bay). Also the hotel was regal, clean and inviting, and the staff was friendly and efficient. All in all, it was a very positive experience.
Thank you, Roland and staff, for the champagne for my fiance's Valentine birthday! What an unexpected treat.
The food at L'Epicure was wonderful, and we're sorry we didn't have an opportunity to try Le Chic. We heard from other guests how fantastic the experience there was.
We never saw who made up our room every day, but she did a wonderful job, and the turn-down service was a welcoming touch when we returned to our room each evening. The rose petals on the bed for our final night was a final, romantic touch, which we appreciated.
We would definitely recommend this resort to all age groups. Young couples, families with children, and older couples would all enjoy their stay here. Thank you, for a great, relaxing vacation! |

I do not recommend this if you are on a honeymoon. Visited: January 2005 |

I stayed at the resort for my honeymoon late last week and was disappointed that all they did was put a few flowers and our bathrobes on the bed! Most hotels might put rose petals, stuffed animals, etc. and would be generally more creative. Some places might even give couples a honeymoon cake and a nice romantic dinner. We received none of that at the Royal.
St. Lucia was beautiful, but I think the resort could've done a lot more to contribute to making our honeymoon memorable.
The hotel was clean, and the buffet breakfast at L'Epicure was nice, but I will not recommend this property for a honeymoon. |

This was our most memorable experience! Visited: December 2004 |

Last December we decided to have our wedding in St. Lucia at the Royal. While we were initially not too confident in having our wedding abroad, now we know we made the perfect decision.
From the moment we arrived, it seemed already everybody knew us. We had been dealing with Nerissa, the unbelievable efficient Guest Relation Manager the months prior to our arrival. And I was happy that most of the loose ends had been tied up. We were ready to go.
Our suite was beautifully arranged with flowers, fruits and champagne. We even got an upgrade to a better suite. The day of our wedding everything went so smooth, which helped to calm me a bit, since one can appreciate how nervous you are on that day in any case.
There was a beautiful backdrop done up, and flower arrangements, and the staff really went out of their way. In the evening, they had arranged a romantic dinner on the beach with a saxophone player, lanterns and wonderful food.
For the rest of the week they just simply pampered us. Every evening we had flower petals on our bed (not sure if that was something they did anyway, since we heard other people telling us), our fruits were replenished, and the staff was just so friendly.
We were really happy to have chosen the Royal for our wedding and subsequent honeymoon. |

This was a wonderful choice! Visited: July 2004 |

My husband and I just got back from our stay at the Royal St. Lucian. We had done a lot of research and can't believe there isn't more written about this resort! It was wonderful!
The lobby was elegant; the grounds were immaculately manicured; the pool was quaint with an island, waterfall, and swim-up bar; the room was spacious with a luxurious bathroom and turn-down service.
One of the best things about this resort was the location. We were within walking distance to many restaurants and short taxi rides to others. (Top recommendations: The Coal Pot (amazing!), Chic (complimentary champagne, beautifully prepared), The Great House (lovely view), Charthouse (nice atmosphere), and for local fare, The Lime and Triangle Pub--yum!)
It seemed like a lot of the other resorts were further away from civilization. The nice thing about the Royal St. Lucian was that we were near just about everything, but the resort never felt crowded at the hotel or on the pretty beach--at least when we were there (end of July, 2004).
My only complaint would be the furniture in the room. The bed was very hard--bearable, but not as comfy as home. And the "couch" in the living room was not the most comfortable, but then again, we weren't really sitting on the couch that much, so it didn't really matter.
Besides the location, the reason we will probably go back to this resort over others is the wonderful people that we met. Everyone, from the concierge to the bellhop, was so very friendly and happy to help. There was one night that we had a mix-up with a dinner reservation to a restaurant that was actually closed for the evening...the manager took care of the taxi fare for us and arranged for us to eat elsewhere. It actually ended up being our favorite restaurant!
The people were sincerely kind and pleasant--we felt like we made friends. If you decide to stay here, don't expect the Ritz or Four Seasons. But it was definitely beautiful and elegant, island-style! We will be going back!
I was sad when we had to leave, but felt better after our taxi driver gave us comforting words. "Don't be sad. Think of it this way: You're going home so you can make more money to come back and visit again!" |

It was perfect! Visited: June 2002 |

We honeymooned here in June 2002 and had a wonderful time. It was rated between four and five stars here in the UK, I would personally give it four and a half stars.
We arrived around 8.30 pm after a long and humid transfer from the airport, and were greeted with cold face towels and either fruit or rum punch. We were told as we had a long journey not to worry about checking in that night, to leave it till the morning which we felt was considerate of them.
We were then shown to our room, which was a deluxe beachfront suite. Wow - it was very big, with separate bedroom and a huge lounge, with a TV/DVD player, plenty of seating, high ceilings, marble floors, etc.
Outside, the balcony/sundeck was the biggest I've ever seen, probably about 15' wide and nearly 20'long, and about a third was covered so you could be in the shade if you preferred. As we looked over the balcony edge, the sand and sea of Rodney Bay was right there.
The bathroom had two sinks, a bath and shower with side jets - it was more of a side splatter though, they didn't quite work right, but they had someone take a look.
Their top restaurant ' Chic 'was excellent. It was expensive but worth a go a couple of times. It had a very trendy and plush decor - brown and beige linens, modern cutlery, and a complimentary glass of Tattinger upon arrival added to it as well. The food was very, very good, but don't expect huge portions, it was not about that, just enjoying the atmosphere and wonderful cuisine.
We also ate at the other restaurant at the hotel which was also very good. They offered more traditional foods - pumpkin soup (which was lovely!), spicy chicken dishes, etc. One night we were the only ones dining on the beach terrace, so they kindly carried our table onto the sand for us, with candles and the waves lapping close by.
The pool complex was good, a kind of figure eight design. At one end, there was a sunken bar, and at the other end was a waterfall/greenery centerpiece.
The lobby was open air with a water feature in the center, with marble floors. The gardens were nice to walk through, and the spa was also very nice - we had a massage there and enjoyed the jacuzzi after.
Overall, I would recommend it for couples or families with older children. The general atmosphere wasn't really suited to younger children, we were amongst the youngest couple there at 23 and 25, but as it was low season it was so quiet, so we didn't feel at all 'out of place' (not that we would if it was busy).
The hotel was also within minutes walk to bars and restaurants, so I wouldn't worry about a meal plan at the hotel, certainly not for your whole stay anyway - you can buy a meal plan while you are here also. |
