Caribbean Jewel is a great place to stay! Visited: August 2004 |

I stayed at the Caribbean Jewel from August 2, 2004 through the 8th.
Our first room was #14 in the Diamond House Building. This room was huge and the living room area had a wrap around deck and windows. The only bad part of this was the windows and deck were on the same level as the pool, so it wasn't a very private room at all. Also, the A/C was only in the bedroom area and wasn't powerful enough to cool any other part of the room.
We moved to room #12 in the same building.Tthis room wasn't as big, but it had the same amenities and we had a private balcony with a nice view.
I also got to see room #24 in the Diamond West Building. This was more of a standard room with a minbar, sink and coffee maker (no mini refridge), the bathroom was huge with a whirl pool tub. This room also had a great balcony with a nice view.
I had a vehicle, so I could get up and down the hill with no problems. I liked every minute of my stay. The staff was very helpful (especially Zet), and their Friday night BBQ was nice. I don't have anything negative to say. I would stay here again for sure. |

We stayed at the Caribbean Jewel in December. It was a quiet place, with a view worth the rack rate. It was so new and it seemed to be in the development stage. There is a ton of potential at this resort – with more development, it could be the nicest place on the northern end of St Lucia.
What the place needs first off is access to the beach – you can walk it, but it’s a steep trek – you’ll be winded, especially on the return climb. I wouldn’t want to try it at night. Only about a third of the vertical drop is covered by stairs, the rest is a gravel path which takes you to the very southern tip of Reduit beach. There is actually no beach where you come out – it's rocky - you need to walk a little north to get to the beach. If they finish off the stairs and add some lighting it will be much more accessible.
You can also walk to the restaurants and grocery store around Rodney bay, but it’s far enough to be a chore – especially after a big dinner or with a bag of groceries in your hand.
The view is fantastic – especially when it’s clear enough to see Martinique. The grounds are also beautiful. But if you need a sunset view, you won't find it here – the resort faces north and the sun sets behind the huge hill it sits on. If you’re hanging out by the pool, you’re in the shadows by mid-afternoon.
We booked a jacuzzi room and were offered an upgrade to a suite. When we arrived, the suite was not available yet, so we stayed in a jacuzzi room the first night. The suites are good but the jacuzzi rooms are much nicer – all have ocean views and a beautiful balcony, king beds, AC, and the upstairs rooms have cathedral ceilings.
The thing these rooms are missing is a mini fridge. There is a wet bar with the space for the fridge set up under the counter, so someone had the idea, but it hasn’t happened yet. The suites have AC only in the bedroom. And it is definitely limited as far as utensils and equipment in the kitchen, but when we asked for a coffee maker, Tom, the manager, actually went out and bought us one! All of the staff were great.
Once they build that beach access and add some mini-fridges to the jacuzzi rooms I think they will have the most luxurious accommodations on the north end of St. Lucia. |

Our review is woefully late - our stay was almost a year ago - but we continue to have such fine memories of our visit we are finally doing what we've always meant to do: let others know about the truly extraordinary service we enjoyed, in every aspect of our stay.
The eagerness of the staff to please was everywhere, but especially from Eustace in the dining room and from Yvonne our gracious housekeeper.
If you're into relaxing, panoramic views, nothing can beat the Jewel at this end of the island, and perhaps anywhere in St.Lucia! We happened to hit an extreme heat wave, unusual even for the tropics. After a walk up from the beach or town, nothing could top a cooling swim in the beautiful "waterfall" pool, where we could hang on the edge and soak in the panoramic view!
The AC in our room never failed us, although in that heat wave, it had a hard time cooling into the huge jacuzzi bathroom. Our overall memory after one year is a most positive one. We wish this hotel great success! |

My client booked this hotel for me, and they made a great choice. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make my stay a pleasant one.
The rooms were new and clean. The swimming pool/spa offered a stunning view of the bay and beach below the hillside location of the hotel. It was a close and safe walk for other eating and shopping opportunities.
I had no big complaints, but breakfast could be served earlier than 7:30 am to accommodate a business schedule. Give it a try! |

I booked this through the internet, which was not normal for me. I like looking for my own places, but it was very last minute. I asked for an upgrade to a full kitchen unit and was immediately accommodated.
Our room was very clean (new) and the maid service was excellent. There was only one other review on this resort and they said it all when they described the feel they had as soon as they arrived. The view was breathtaking day and night every time we rounded the corner at the top of the hill at the entrance!
Our room's view was also gorgeous! The pool was exotic and relaxing, but they needed more lounge chairs. It was also in a great location, we walked everywhere (the beach, restaurants, grocery store, etc.) The Steak House was our favorite!
The full kitchen was nice for breakfast and lunch. However, there were some essentials missing, such as a coffee maker, spatula and utensils.
Also, we had to rent beach chairs when we were on the beach because most of the beach belonged to all-inclusive resorts and they charged us for use. There was also quite a long walk to get a drink while on the beach since there was only one bar/restaurant that was beachfront and not all-inclusive.
Obviously, the resort was new and still growing, so maybe with time my minor issues will be eventually resolved. Everyone was friendly, and St. Lucia was one of the best islands I've been to. We would definitely return again and recommend it to friends! |

I visited St. Lucia for Jazz Festival 2003 and had a most memorable stay at the Caribbean Jewel Resort.
The hotel was a beautiful property and had a great location. What I loved most about the property was the beautiful view and the friendly staff. I also felt that I got the best value for my money.
The hotel was new - which is always a plus. The rooms were very large and tastefully decorated. Our room was on the top level, so we had vaulted ceilings. Other nice touches included, ceiling fans in the room and balcony, jacuzzi tub with separate shower, wet bar, and sitting area.
The view was just beautiful from everywhere on the property - especially from the privacy of your room. You must take a swim at night and enjoy the view of the lights.
You cannot go wrong by staying at this jewel of a resort. We were close to several restaurants and just a few minutes' walk down the hillside to Reduit Beach. The resort was impressive from the minute we arrived on the property and it had a private feel to it (i.e. guarded gate). It was a stay in a luxurious hotel without spending the luxury rates.
I look forward to returning to St. Lucia and staying at the Caribbean Jewel Beach Resort. You will love it, too! |
