Wow...what an experience. Visited: July 2005

The villa was beautiful. The design actually made us feel that the outdoors was brought right into our living space. This ambience was enhanced by the watchdog, Toby, who seemed to adopt everyone staying at the villa. Every day, Toby would escort us to the beach at Smuggler's Cove, watch over as we snorkeled, and would swim out to greet us as we returned to the beach.

The staff was wonderful...courteous and respectful. I was concerned about having people under foot, but the staff did an incredible job remaining invisible. Olga was a wonderful cook and you should definitely sample some of her dishes.

Our experience in the villa was incredible. We loved the views, relaxing in the pool or just sitting on the veranda sipping a drink watching the ships pass by.

This villa, however, may not be for everyone. If you are uncomfortable with the outdoors, living with insects or need air conditioning to survive, you might not enjoy this experience.

What a fantastic destination for our honeymoon. Smugglers Nest exceeded my wife's and my expectations. The views, the house (wow, the pictures didn’t do it justice), the staff, the beaches, the privacy, the food, the restaurants in town and the local people were all fantastic. Also, the staff was very flexible. The beach was the next property down the road.

Don’t drive to the volcano unless you are a good driver – it was 20 miles and took about 1 and 3/4 hours. I recommend you take the boat there.

I would strongly recommend Smugglers Nest for anyone.

This place was most unique! Visited: May 2005

This was one of the most beautiful villas I've ever stayed in. The open-air style was refreshing and fun. You will have to get used to sleeping under a bug net on the bed. It took me a couple of nights to keep me in, and keep "them" out!

The staff was wonderful. I had my reservations about them being under foot. But all were very respectful and "not seen" most of the time. The maid, Olga, was a darling. She was a very good cook, too. We would come home and the laundry and ironing were done to perfection.

There were some trees and bushes that should be cut back. Because of the growth of those plants, the view we saw on the web site was different than when we got here. When in the dining room, we were directly above the beautiful pool and the ocean beyond, but we could not see it at all.

We felt very secure here. Trevor and Ton were great. And when we returned home, we would inform them, and they closed the security gates. Ton would help us with groceries, and even found a grill for us.

The island, of course, was very beautiful. We took an all-day trip to go to the drive-thru volcano. It was not much to see. I never knew I was in one. The pitons were beautiful, though!

The food was also good. We went fishing. We didn't catch much, but we had fun. We bought a stryofoam cooler. The maid, and Ton, the gardner, both asked for it, so we bought another one and gave them both one!

Smugglers Nest Overview

This magnificent home is one of the finest in the whole Caribbean and was extensively described in one of the issues of Architectural Digest. Its lush tropical garden is a botanical paradise with many different kinds of palms, flowers, plants and trees and is definitely the most romantic place for...
