Wow, what a great time! Visited: December 2006

I stayed in St. Lucia for ten days at three different resorts. Rendezvous was the the best.

They offered wonderful service, great food, an awesome beach (for St. Lucia), and a clean resort. This was the vacation of a lifetime.

If you are looking for a wild party crowd, this is not the place. If you are looking for romance and like being spoiled - stay here!

We had a wonderful wedding. Visited: September 2006

We got married at the Rendezvous, and had a wonderful time. The staff was really lovely, and couldn't do enough to help us.

Personally, I didn't like the food very much. However, I am a fussy eater. My husband didn't seem to have a problem with the food.

The rooms were nice, but could do with some updating. This resort is definitely not for you if you want entertainment and excitement. However, for a romantic and quiet holiday, this is great.

I must say, though, this resort is under a flight path, and that can be quite irritating at times.

This was an absolutely amazing place! Visited: August 2006

We just returned from a one-week stay at the Rendezvous, and wish we were still there. From the moment we arrived at the reception desk, to the sad morning we had to leave, we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

We booked a verandah suite, and were more than satisfied with the accommodations. Upon arrival, there were fresh flowers decorating our room, and we fell in love with the warm, vibrant colors that reminded us we were somewhere tropical. The double shower was the best part, with marble tile and multiple shower heads.

Both the restaurant and the Terrace offered wonderful meals. We found that we didn't eat in the Trysting Place as much as we thought we would because we didn't want to miss the theme of the evening at the Terrace.

We enjoyed a superb couple's massage, and every other guest we talked to who indulged in some sort of treatment at the Pavilion Spa was as impressed as we were. We did a few of the activities and had a lot of fun, but never felt pressured from anyone to participate if we chose to just relax at the pool or on the beach. In fact, we were always encouraged to make it "our" vacation, and no one else's.

I have read a couple reviews from people who complained about the beach being public, but we really didn't find this to be a problem. Yes, there were locals present at any given time of the day, but they didn't bother us at all. The children were adorable, and we enjoyed watching them play. On most mornings, if we got out before 11:00 am, we could walk the entire span of the beach (well past the resort boundaries) without seeing anyone. It was wonderful for a couple of seashell hounds like us.

The most amazing thing about the Rendezvous was the top-notch staff they have in place. Whether they were servers, bartenders, activities specialists, or house/groundskeeping staff, they were all friendly, helpful, and a complete pleasure to be around.

I couldn't believe a comment I'd read about a guest who felt the staff despised them and that they didn't get a smile from staff members without tipping them. That certainly wasn't the case with us. We were made to feel like we were part of their family from day one. They were quite an amazing group and made the Rendezvous the exceptional place that it is.

If you're thinking of going to St. Lucia, and the Rendezvous is on your list of places to stay, don't hesitate. Book it now. You won't be disappointed.

Ok, so we went to Rendezvous based on the reviews here for a couple of reasons.
Let me in a nut-shell tell you everything you need to know:

1.) Tristan Restaurant is very good, probably the best I've had at a Caribbean all-inclusive (don't bother with the slop they serve at the buffet dinners) reserve for as many nights as possible- speaking of the buffet, avoid Asian Night at all costs, wife was sick for 2 days. While I can't say if that was truly the cause, between us readers, raw fish is probably not the best thing to leave out in the heat.

2.) You really are "right next to the airport" being New Yorker's we're use to loud noises, if you're a light sleeper you're in big trouble.

3.) There's absolutely no hot water in peak shower times so shower at the off hours.

4.) Go to Le Sport, absolutely beautiful little place with a nicer beach and free for Rendezvous guests

5.) Save your money and don't bother with going into town

6.) No NY Times fax for us Americans or any American publications, and $9.00 US dollars for a UK Paper fax

7.) Very young honeymooning couples (early 20's)

8.)Aside from the piano bar it is completely dead at night. I went to bed earlier there then I do at home.

All in all, I had a good time, well rested, but wouldn't go back what-so-ever.

Oh and one more really big thing:

All Inclusive does not mean "Top Shelf".
Ran out of Absolut for several days, Gilby Gin is what the homeless drink here in Manhattan. An absolute disgrace to a Martini drinker. I wasn't expecting Belvedere or Bombay Sapphire, but that was just insulting. Very few top brands if any.

The staff made our holiday. Visited: July 2005

This hotels would great for a child-free holiday. However, the location was next door to a cemetery, and 100 meters from an airport (and directly below the flight path).

My wife and I had an oceanfront room which was in need of a refurbishing. They were in no way romantic, as we could touch the next balcony. There was also no screen for privacy.

In addition, we could not see the ocean from the top floor because of the palm trees.

The food and drinks were very good, and the staff made it all work.

This was the first time I have ever been that far from home! I have been spoiled now.

I went on my honeymoon here, and didn't stop smiling for two weeks. I also put on about two stone. The food was amazing, and the staff was great.

I am already saving up for a return visit.

We were pleased to experience the wonderful Rendevous. Visited: November 2004
Posted by jules_cunningham
My husband and I have just returned from Rendevous, and had an amazing time.

The friendly staff and attention to detail across the board was impressive - beginning with rum punch and cold towels when we arrived, and fresh flowers laid out in our room. A real effort was made in every area to make it a special and memorable holiday.

The food was fantastic with every night having a different 'theme' so we didn't have the chance to get bored with the menu. We also enjoyed the Beach BBQ night, where tables and chairs were set out on the beach along with all the food, and a steel drum band played under the stars! It was great!

The drinks were all of very good quality, although we also thought the wine had probably been decanted into bottles! The cocktails - both alcoholic and not - were delicious!

There was plenty to do with activities and lessons every day and they were never crowded. The staff encouraged guests to join in on competitions and games, but were quite happy if you just wanted to lie in the sun like I did!

Our rooms were beautiful, clean and modern, and very spacious. We had seen some reports online regarding the garden rooms being rather shabby and old, and were worried as this was what we had booked. But when we got there, we had been upgraded to an oceanfront room, as all the garden rooms were currently being totally refurbished - good news!

Also, some reviews mentioned 'issues' with locals using the beaches at the weekends. We did notice that there was more traffic on weekends, but it was all very friendly. And the hotel had two to three security guards walking around the beach on all days (I think probably to discourage hawkers). We always felt perfectly safe.

Around the hotel there were lots of romantic and private places to hang out and chill, two hot tubs, loads of hammocks for two, and swing seats on the beach overlooking the sunset. Also, the Terrace Bar and Restaurant is an amazingly chilled place to just sit and watch the sea.

I would highly, highly recommend Rendevous, in all respects!

sorry not for me Visited: August 2004

what can i say, they do greet u with rum punches the hotel room was fantastic air conditoner electonic safe iron and board bathroom very nice indeed, with its marble flooring even had a cd player in there. we had a hammock room ( roomes based on the beach with a hammock on your balcony).
but the food well great for the first 2 days after that buffet food tends to be repeated and you can seriously go off it. the sea was an absolute disgrace (compared to galley bay in antigua and other parts of st lucia like la sport , but dont be mistaken i wouldnt enture to la sport).
fairplay room sevice and fresh linen was spot on everyday, use of the internet was extreme and taxis fairs not to emntion there was no privacy on the beaches as there were quite a lot of locals trying to see u stuff for your head (if u know what i mean). if you ventured further down the beach you come to some sort of ses pit whatever it was it didnt look healthy flowing straight into the sea, perhaps thats why they worn u not to venture to far down the beach. the drinks on the beach well what can you say they take about an hour to come and i only wanted water to find you have to go and get that yourself strange one.
not romantic enough for me sorry too many clicky groups and plenty of children around on the beach.
the airport is right next door you can see it as you enter rendezvous, but the airport we landed to was an hour an half away now that is strange.
planes come flying over every half hour on some days but not so bad at night, so if you are getting married say yourvows fairly fast or youll be shouting them out.
pools were great for 2 days after that they were full of plants and things, ugh i dotn want to think about it.
but in all fairness the room we had was by far the best bit of the place, apart form you can do water sports free of charge.
two weeks there would be too much too dull for party goers but not romantic enough for honeymooners, ill stop whingening now as i only arived back today thank god!! and i shant be returning to rendezvous unfortuantely. by the way my partner and i cant think of one staffs name to put on the comments form maybe thats becasue they werent that friendly, particularly when you have heavily pregannat women serving you which makes you feel extremely guilty as its them who should be puting their feet up.

What a wonderful honeymoon! Visited: March 2004

We have just returned from a blissful two weeks at the Rendezvous. Don't let the odd gripes here and there put you off. Overall, the Rendezvous was superb and offered excellent value for our money. We got a very good early booking discount booking our March holiday last September.

On arrival, we were greeted with rum punch and cold towels, they told us we could check in the following morning and go straight to our room, which was great. We were very pleasantly surprised by the Verandah Room. It had a huge private balcony with comfortable sun loungers, a four poster bed and a lovely marble bathroom with double shower. As a honeymoon couple we were treated to a cold bottle of bubbly laid out in the room for us and flowers everywhere. It was a lovely "extra special" touch.

The grounds were superb, it was like a giant botanical garden. The facilities were also good, the swimming pools were cleaned daily, and the bars and restaurants were excellent.

The buffet service at the Terrace Restaurant was pretty good, there was something there to satisfy all tastes. Our favorite meal there was breakfast - you could literally have anything you wanted, cooked to order. Next best was afternoon tea with plenty of yummy cakes on offer. We ate in the Trysting Place a couple of times and never had trouble booking. They had superb food and exceptional service.

We did eat out of the resort a couple of times during our stay as over 14 nights things could get a little repetitive. It was worthwhile doing this as there were some lovely restaurants on the island including The Great House which can't be beaten for romance factor.

Undoubtedly what set this hotel apart was the quality of the staff. They couldn't do enough for us and we felt like we were at home with friends. We had some of the best laughs of the fortnight hanging out with the staff. A big thanks to Deano, Alvin, Anna, Niamh, Paul, Fallus and Finbar who really helped to make our stay extra special.

There was plenty to do here but also the option of doing nothing at all with no pressure to take part in activities. Every morning the board in the terrace bar was full with a list of activities for the day. My husband and I took part in a lot of them as we hate just lying on a sunbed all day.

There was a good mix of ages from 20s to 60s and we made some good friends of all ages here. We visited Le Sport once and it wasn't a patch on Rendezvous. We would definitely return.

Rendezvous had a lot to offer, but the beach was public. Visited: March 2004
Posted by sherm882003
The room was beautiful, the food was excellent and there was plenty of it. The drinks were always good and we never had to wait to order one at the bar, at the pool or on the beach.

However, the beach was public. We had a private oceanfront cottage and we couldn't lay out outside our room because the locals were always there trying to talk to us and sell us things and it wasn't very private. We walked down to the part of the beach closer to the bar so we could get an umbrella and be around other people.

The entertainment was good, the staff really tried to make you feel good and keep it romantic. They were never pushy and very friendly.

My only issue was our cottage was right up to the property line and the security warned us not to walk pass the resort on the beach. We never ventured that far and really tried to be very smart about our safety. Which was a shame because the beach was long and beautiful and we couldn't just stroll and hold hands.

I would recommend the Rendezvous for the money and the service, and St. Lucia is truly a beautiful island.

Rendezvous in January - Heaven! Visited: January 2004
Posted by fruitlinkuk
We arrived at the Rendezvous after an excellent trip from the airport via helicopter. We had good first impressions - welcomed with a rum punch and cold towels. The grounds were absolutely stunning, with beautiful trees all lit-up and palms and flowers everywhere.

We had a Verandah room which was all brand new, a mahogany four-poster, sitting area, dressing area and a pink marble bathroom with double shower - excellent!

The big plus about this hotel was their staff. I cannot tell you how much they added to our stay here. So, here's a big hello to Alvin and Deano, the entertainment guys and volley ball nutters. Also to my favorite barman, James.

All the staff, without exception were the best we have met at any hotel we have stayed in the Caribbean.

The beach was good, but the water was not quite as blue and clear as we expected. And the graveyard just along to the left of the hotel, right on the beach was a bit strange!

The small planes going over did not bother us in the slightest, don't let this put you off. Also, the buffet food was generally good, and drink was available (including champagne) all day long if required.

We stayed for 11 days and then flew off to Barbados for another 10 days. All in all, we had a good, fun stay at the Rendezvous and would definitly recommend the place.

Rendezvous was pleasant, friendly and served good food. Visited: January 2004
Posted by emmalovesgeorge
My husband and I stayed at Rendezvous in January 2004. We booked a Garden Room. We were told the Garden Rooms had been refurbished - they had not.

The standard of the rooms was very poor, and we changed twice like other guests who arrived. Our first room was damp and dark, with a filthy floor, and an awful bathroom.

Then we had a ground floor room which was dark again, dirty, and had a horrible bathroom. The shower ran hot/cold - not one temperature. However, the verandah suites were gorgeous in comparison.

The garden rooms were very noisy. We could hear other guests going to the loo, having sex, showering, shutting patio doors walking across the floor, and closing their chest of drawers.

The food was good and the staff was friendly. My husband is a Head Chef in England (four-star hotels), so we can confirm the standard of the food. The Trysting Restaurant was nothing special. Food was cooked in the same style as the buffet restaurant, just served a la carte - which we had to book. Sometimes it was hard to get in as people could book night after night which prevented other people getting in.

The most boring thing was every week they repeated the menu for the two weeks we were here, so we found the second week a bit boring. Everyone also put their towels out on the beds at 7:30 am, so if you decided to go on the beach late, there were a very limited number beds in the shade.

The best things about the hotel were the food and that the staff was friendly in our second week. They didn't speak to us in our first week.

I would definitely not recommend booking a Garden Room. We went into a Seaside Suite and they were very basic, and not as nice as the Verandah suites. Also, the weather in January was a bit disappointing we had about four-five days of rain.

I wouldn't stay here again, but we did enjoy it. There was a mixture of British and Americans who stayed in the hotel, but mainly an American clientele. The tour reps' activities were expensive.

Also, the airport when we arrived was a nightmare. We queued for 2.5 hours in "Nothing to Declare" with all the local St. Lucians trying to bring in food and they were opening all their cases - very slow. Our taxi journey was one hour and 20 minutes up and down mountains.

The Rendezvous provided romantic relaxation. Visited: December 2003
Posted by tsecord
After a hectic few months, my husband and I decided to try a couple of weeks on the beach in St. Lucia. We booked the Rendezvous based on the "couples only" policy and the reviews we had read (not to mention the early booking bonus was pretty good). We decided on the beach cottage since they had reportedly been completely renovated.

We arrived on December 6, 2003 and after a not so bad drive (an hour and a half) from the airport, we were escorted to our cottage. It was quite cute from the outside and not even a yard from the beach.

The furnishings were nice, although the bed didn't quite fit properly, but the bathroom had not been renovated. Compared to the rest of the cottage, it was second rate and dingy (but clean). Don't forget to bring some CDs, the player was new and there was no TV (surprisingly we didn't miss it).

The resort was on a beautiful stretch of beach. Despite the fact the beach was public and close to town (Castries) we didn't find the locals to be too intrusive. The weekends were the busiest - watch out for flying soccer balls. There was always hotel security present on the beach and throughout the resort property.

Every day between 10:30 and 11:00 the beach server brought around the flags and we could plant them in the sand when we wanted a drink. Don't wait until you're really thirsty...it can take a while!

When we travel we go to explore the island, eat sleep and drink. We don't get involved with the hotel activities, so I can't comment on any of the watersports etc. Although there were always people waterskiing, sailing etc. There were a couple of volleyball games throughout the day.

The buffet was alright, but the Trysting Place was very good. We went to Le Sport a couple of times to the TAO restaurant which was excellent, but if you want wine, bring cash or a credit card.

All in all, we enjoyed our holiday. The resort was nice, the island was beautiful and the people were friendly.

The food was good to great. Our oceanfront cottage was quaint and spacious. Activities were limited by the number of boats and Hobie cats they had. Overall, we had a great stay!

Wonderful trip, great resort! Visited: November 2003

My husband and I just returned from St. Lucia. We stayed at Rendezvous from 11/16/2003-11/23/2003. The resort could not have been better. The food was wonderful. In fact, the buffets were so delicious and eating in the open air terrace was so romantic, we decided against making reservations for the air conditioned restaurant. The bar stocked high premium alcohol and the mixed drinks were too easy to drink! We stayed in a Verandah Suite which was really nice. The room was very clean and romantically furnished. The body shower in the bathroom was a definite plus. The balcony (verandah) had comfy chairs and high side walls for privacy. We walked by the Garden Rooms and they looked a bit run down. I would recommend the Verandah Suite or a Luxury Ocean View Suite (looked really great from the outside, but a bit more expensive than the Verandah Suite). The grounds and gardens were gorgeous. This was my favorite attribute of the resort. It was lovely to walk around in the evening and listen to the toads. I saw grounds keepers working hard every day.The beach was wonderful. We were NEVER harassed by anyone. The few locals I saw selling necklaces and such were respectful and waited to be approached. The resort had 2-3 security fellows on the beach, which may explain the lack of harassment.Everyone at the resort was really friendly.Oh, and the airport. It never once bothered us, and my husband and I enjoyed watching the small planes. They are not loud and not very frequent.

Rendezvous was definitely a romantic couples delight! Visited: October 2003
Posted by sarahandjohn
The staff was incredibly friendly. We were quite amazed at the quality of individuals working at Rendezvous - from Embert the groundskeeper who cut open a coconut for us - to Clinton at the bar who customized our drinks - to Tyrell the water sports guy who taught me how to ride the "air board".

The food was beyond our expectations, especially since I am a vegetarian. I felt there was a great selection and if you didn't feel like eating at the buffet, the Tristing Place was first rate! The manners of the employees in the Tristing Place rivaled a five-star restaurant - we were impressed!

Our room was beautiful, an oceanfront luxury suite. The view was great, but there were lots of tall palm trees. The balcony was our nightly hangout. We would go get several drinks and snacking food, what a great cocktail hour!

The room had all pink marble floors and the bathroom was very spacious. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the room. We stayed on the third (top) floor. We preferred this, it felt secluded and it seemed to be less bright on our balcony compared to the lower floors.

If we returned, I would want to stay in Room 341 or 348. Those balconies seemed the most private. A word of advice - don't feed the birds from your balcony - they will poo and pee on you!

They offered a free Discover Scuba course and we were thrilled we did it. Julie was a great instructor and very responsible in ensuring our safety! We had a massage for two in the gazebo along the pool/beach and it was so relaxing. The beach was nice and it was true, stick a flag in the sand and eventually your order will be taken!

Rendezvous' Sister resort was Le Sport, and for a $40 taxi ride (roundtrip) you could spend the day there and enjoy everything a Le Sport guest could. We enjoyed going there because their reef was full of fish, you could snorkel from the beach. In fact, Sandals brought a boat of people to snorkel at Le Sport's reef while we were there. The best thing is it was a private beach and 75% of the women were topless bathing - I enjoyed trying that out!

Why I marked it a four star instead of a five may be picky, but here are my reasons. You only hear a few planes go right overhead each day from the nearby airport, but it reminded me that we had to leave.

The water was not what I expected, it was not clear and blue. The swimming area was small and there was trash on the bottom on the right side. This was something they could easily fix and may not be aware is a problem.

I shopped around a lot and made my decision from photos, reviews - not money. Rendezvous turned out to have great rates. I found the best rate through AAvacations, and they allowed me to use my miles toward our hotel costs.

A beautiful place with great food and lovely people. Visited: March 2003
Posted by jayfinne
We stayed at this brilliant hotel in March 2003. We loved it from the moment we arrived. We have never met such friendly staff before during our many stays in the Caribbean.

We love water sports, and the water sports staff was all so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they gave as much tuition and encouragement as you wanted. So, "hi" to Mellissa, Chester, Sheldon, Boy Blue and Tyrell.

The entertainment was good and they played a lot of English records when there was no entertainment. It was great to listen to in the background.

The food was fantastic and always well presented. Breakfast was great as they came and took our order for eggs, bacon, omelettes, pancakes - whatever we wanted. Then it was cooked fresh for each person, which we have never known before.

Again, all the staff was so friendly and helpful. Everything was immaculately clean with some lovely little touches. The Trysting restaurant was brilliant, too. They were so attentive and the food was wonderful.

Even the reception staff was nice and nothing was too much trouble for them. They also made sure that guests never waited very long before they attended to them.

We got the helicopter transfer there and the bus back, but would definitely do the chopper both ways next time. Planes flew over a bit, as the small airport was only five minutes away, but it was not a problem.

Our only downer was that there was no tv in the rooms - sad I know, but we did miss it, especially as the war started whilst we were here and we were desparate to know what was going on.

The rooms were always clean, with plenty of towels, a coffee and tea maker, an iron and board, and cd/tape player.

The beach was fantastic, with soft white sand, loads of sunbeds and lots of natural shade. It was about two miles long and we walked right along to Sandals Halcyon (not a patch on the Rendezvous) and St James, Morgan Bay (which had a very small section of beach).

All the beaches were open to the public and on Sundays we saw a lot of locals, which was fine apart from their dogs who all seemed to be the 'killer' kind! On the beach, we didn't even have to get up to get a drink, we just stuck our flag in the sand and they got it for us. It was also great to lay on the beach and watch the sunset each night.

We were lucky enough to have good weather, and the water was warm enough not to make us wince as we went in. It was also very clear and soft under our feet.

We can't wait to go again - and for longer next time. We would highly recommend it to anyone.

We have just returned from the Rendezvous, and it was sheer bliss.

On our arrival, we were upgraded to a beachfront cottage - talk about beach front! The Caribbean was literally ten feet away, and the view was stunning.

The cottage was fantastic, and very tastefully decorated. The hotel, in general, was first class. The staff was very friendly and extermely helpful. The food was excellent, and the barbecue night was a must.

The only downside during our week was that one afternoon the blender wasn't working at the pool bar, so we had to wait a little longer for our cocktails!

This place was brillant. We will be going back.
