While planning our two week vacation in St. Lucia June/July 2010 we were looking for a relaxing place to spend the last four nights following our sailing charter to Martinique. It didn't take long searching St. Lucia accommodations for Nature's Paradise to keep rising to the top of my queries. So a quick email and a phone call to Nature Dave (Wallace) and our arrangements were confirmed, and what a terrific decision it turned out to be. At Nature's Paradise, Dave and Wanda have transformed their promontory on the hill above Marigot Bay overlooking the sea into a magnificent tropical hide-a-way. Nature Dave is the consummate host and after making sure we were settled in and helping me replace my flat tire he gave us the tour of the beautiful grounds and great house.
In the Avocado and Banana cottages they have embraced the flavour of the Caribbean. You enter the cottage from the large secluded porch with spectacular views of the sea and a wonderful setting to share a bottle of wine. Entering the open interior you have all the comfort of home in a casual and quaint vacation version. The spacious sleeping area opens directly on to the porch and the small kitchen provides all the necessities. Once here you don't just visit the tropical island of St. Lucia but you immerse yourself in its sights, sounds and sensations. We were there in the summer and the beginning of rainy season so it was warm and humid at times (hello, St.Lucia is a rainforest in the tropics) however the absence of air conditioning was adequately compensated for by the available fans. Be prepared, mosquitoes can be a nuisance especially in the mornings and evenings, but it's all part of the tropical experience. The pool deck has breathtaking views to the south and of the sea and the perfect location to experience sun set. Each morning we were treated to a delightful breakfast of fresh fruits and breads in the dining room of the great house, and we especially looked forward to having coffee with Dave, he is wealth of knowledge about the island, its wonderful people, places, history and politics. He can arrange or personally guide any of your activities or excursions.
Nature's Paradise while in Marigot Bay is removed from the harbour and the access road is a challenge. You will certainly want a rental car, preferably one with four wheel drive or one with good ground clearance as a minimum, Dave can help you out here as well. Marigot Bay is the quintessential Caribbean harbour as we learned during the first week of our stay in St. Lucia at Oasis Marigot (see our review), and Nature's Paradise provides a charming perspective in a relaxed, secluded and romantic setting. Nature's Paradise/Marigot Bay is the perfect location on the island, an hour or so drive to the north to Rodney Bay and the capital Castries or an hour or so drive south to Soufriere, the Pitons, the Volcano, mineral baths, etc. Unfortunately Wanda was away during our stay, so I guess a return visit is in our future, I need to compare notes on our Bonsai collections .

This was a most memorable vacation! Visited: April 2010 |

Our stay here was breathtaking and exhilarating. We enjoyed the relaxation, tranquility and the welcome drink. The views were absolutely amazing. We stayed four nights in the Banana Cottage and four nights in the Ginger room. Both were equally good for views and privacy.
Dave and Wanda are extremely giving and good-natured. They book trips, tours, give directions and go out of their way to make your stay the most it could be. After getting used to the road leading up to Nature's Paradise, the rest was smooth sailing. There is no TV in any of the rooms. This was a welcome relief from the everyday noise when not on vacation.
We took Dave's Soufriere tour. It was worth every penny. He gave us his many hours worth of time to just relax and enjoy. Lunch at Ladera was spectacular, the drive in the volcano was very interesting, and the mineral baths were the best ever. Dave's knowledge of the island is unsurpassed and he explains everything like it was the first time. He has so much energy!
We also visited Castries, Rodney Bay and its "mall". We ate at local restaurants and got to know some island folk pretty well. In addition, we took the rain forest tram tour. It was beautiful. We kind of wish we had done the zipline instead, though. It looked much more interesting and fun. Maybe next time!
If I were to make one change, it would be to have air conditioning. Although I must say that the humidity when we went was very unusual for the season (we were told).
The time spent by the pool was wonderful, and the sunsets were spectacular. Every night it was a different color - some bluish purple, others striking orange-red. We watched cruise ships come and go from our Banana Cottage balcony. We enjoyed getting to know the island much better than just "cruising in" for a couple hours. We got to know the lay of the land, the people, how they live, the food, culture, etc. It made our trip more endearing.
Natures Paradise was a great getaway for just the two of us. We enjoyed the time to re-connect and get to know each other again. We even got to read a whole book while relaxing during our stay. Wifi was available at the main house for skyping to family and friends, but it was not mandatory!
Mango and Papaya, the resident kitties, along with all the little birds that ate out of our hands made our stay even better. Wanda's home-made muffins were delicious - along with the fresh fruit and cheese served Monday through Friday in the main dining room. The best part was we didn't have to do the dishes!
Breakfast was the only time you would visit with other guests. We were lucky enough to do a tour with one of the couples who were also there the same time we were. It was a great visit!
One absolute must is a four-wheel drive rental while there. We were charged $100.00 for the taxi from the airport to Nature's Paradise. The taxi was booked by Dave. Our rental was also ordered by Dave and waiting for us the next morning at our cottage. You might want to check with your insurance company before you visit since some insurance companies do not cover rentals outside the US.
Thanks Dave and Wanda for your hospitality. You made us feel like we were home away from home. We can't wait to visit again some day! |

At last the kids have left the home and my wife and I can vacation on our own doing what we want. We had the best vacation we have ever had at Nature's Paradise.
Our accommodation was wonderful - a beautiful cottage almost lost in the lush tropical garden, a spectacular view of the Caribbean Sea, gracious and interesting hosts, David and Vanda.
The island of St. Lucia offers so many things to do. We climbed the Gross Piton, hiked in the rain forest, visited plantations and snorkeled amongst the coral.
My wife and I celebrated her birthday with a special evening out at the Rainforest Hideaway Restaurant on Marigot Bay. We enjoyed the food and found the environment to be charming and romantic.
At the end of our ten-day stay, we both agreed that this was the best vacation we have ever had. |

My daughter and I just returned from five days and four nights on St. Lucia at Nature's Paradise. It proved to be the perfect getaway from work and winter.
The name was very apt with the dramatic setting overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the lush vegetation of Wanda's garden surrounding a lovely house and cottages.
David and Wanda Wallace were the perfect hosts with their intimate knowledge of the island and willingness to help their guests. Both gave tours that were enjoyable and interesting - swimming under a rainforest waterfall, visiting a volcano, soaking in a warm mineral bath, seeing lovely botanical gardens, and lunch at a great restaurant with the most dramatic setting I have ever seen!
Our only disappointment was that our time at here was too short.

If you're someone looking to get off the beaten tourist path and to make your own adventure, this is the perfect place to set up home base!
Our mornings at Natures Paradise started off with a very filling and nutritious breakfast, as well as fantastic advice for our day from David and Wanda (owners).
At Nature's Paradise, all you need is a map, and David and Wanda will show you where everything is on it (from the best things to see and do to the best beaches around the island).
They have a very large pool with an amazing view of the Caribbean Sea! They also kept street lights off of their property so that you can see the stars at night, and they are beautiful! Coming from big cities, we have never seen such a clear, unpolluted view of the stars. It was very romantic!
A perfect way to start off your stay on the island is to go with David on his Soufriere Eco-Adventure Tour. It's a maximum four-person tour, which makes it very special and intimate. This was a great way to see the main tourist highlights. You'll also get to see local gems that David and Wanda uncovered on their own (and that the resorts don't tell you about), such as the amazing sulphur springs pools that are very romantic.
For dinner, there's a good selection of excellent restaurants in and around Marigot Bay, such as Chateau Mygo and Cafe de Mygo (aka 'Julieta's' - ask David for locations).
All in all, just like the web site touts, it's Romance and Adventure when you stay at Nature's Paradise! |

We stayed here for one week in the Advocado Cottage. We had a wonderful time!
The view of the sea, the pool with a sea view, the exotic flowers in the garden, and the quiet and remoteness of the cottage were all excellent. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and the bed was good.
Dave and Wanda made us feel very welcomed. We enjoyed the daily tropical breakfast, and Dave's eco-tour was a good introduction for getting around on the island.

You could not ask for a better place to stay.
My wife and I were looking for something outside the standard resort/all-inclusive style accommodation, and Nature's Paradise delivered that and more.
David and Wanda are wonderful people. From David's expansive knowledge of the island, to Wanda's amazing breakfast and baking (the muffins are to die for), you could not find more accommodating hosts.
As others have mentioned, you definitely should rent a vehicle for your stay.
Nature's Paradise is nestled at the top of the hill in Marigot, and you definitely don't want to have to hike that every day. But that also affords you a ton of privacy, and the grounds and views are spectacular. Having a vehicle also allows you to explore the island which if you're staying for more than a few days you'll definitely want to do.
Some of the highlights:
* David's tour down to Soufriere.
* Breakfast.
* The view from the cottages and the pool.
* Dinner at the Rainforest Hideaway.
* Pigeon Island
As others have mentioned, if you are looking for a truly relaxing holiday, Natures Paradise provides a wonderful base to explore the island. |

We have just arrived home relaxed and rejuvenated after a wonderful two-week stay in Banana cottage at Nature's Paradise. After reading reviews on here, we had high expectations. We certainly weren't disappointed.
Here are our highlights that made our holiday so special.
We were impressed with the friendliness, hospitality and warmth of our lovely hosts David and Wanda. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We also enjoyed the company over Wanda's brilliant breakfasts. We especially liked the delicious the mangos and banana bread.
Also, Wanda's lush gardens were beautiful.
David's Soufriere Tour was a fabulous day - intimate and informative. Lunch at Ladera was amazing, too, with spectacular view of the Pitons.
Fisherman's Cove was a nice treat. It was so close to Natures Paradise, and was a lovely secluded bay. Pigeon Point was peaceful with great views. The deserted and desolate Grand Anse beach on the Atlantic coast, was nice, too. Anse Cochon Beach was great for snorkeling, and lunch at Ti Kaye Resort beach bar was fun. Anse de Sables Beach near the Hewanorra Airport was a good find, as well.
We liked having lunch at the Fox Grove Inn on the East Coast with views over to the ocean. 'Friday Fish Fry' at Anse La Raye, offered a friendly, fun atmosphere with some interesting dishes! Lunch at the inexpensive Bread Basket at Rodney Bay Marina was nice, too.
Our dinner at the 'Mango Tree' Stonefield Estate was special. We arrived just in time for a stunning sunset.
Other memorable activities were visiting the Roseau Dam and completing the Millet trail; lazing by the pool with a good book and the occasional dip; listening to a live Jazz musician at the Hurricane Hole, and drinking cool pints of Piton Beer; and an exhilarating Skyride and Zipwire adventure.
The friendly, laid back St. Lucians, were also so helpful when we were lost!
We loved the evening meals at Razmataz and Delirious, in Rodney Bay, and enjoyed getting to know the wildlife on our balcony. Beautiful Marigot Bay was just at the bottom of the hill.
While you're here, you should also visit Balenbouche Estate. The hosts were lovely and it is in a rustic, atmospheric and historical setting.
We also dined at Rainforest Hideaway. It offered a romantic setting, delicious meal, and great service. It was the perfect last night treat, and is not to be missed.
Looking through the photos now that we are back home, we are reminded of the spectacular scenery - rainforests, mountains, waterfalls, seascapes, dramatic skies, wildlife, exotic flowers, beaches, and sunsets, etc. They are all precious reminders to keep forever. When you go, don't forget your camera!
We enjoyed the freedom and flexibility that Natures Paradise and our 4-wheel drive gave us. We experienced a perfect mix of romance and adventure, and we loved it! We hope to return one day. Thanks David and Wanda!

We consider ourselves fortunate to have experienced Nature's Paradise. It is perched high on a hill offering stunning 180 degree views of the St. Lucian coastline.
Banana Cottage was a pleasant surprise. Imagine being surrounded by flowering hibiscus, frangipani, and bougainvillea. We were also visited each day by colorful Hummingbirds and Finches.
Only the few guests share the large private swimming pool. The cottage has a large veranda with comfortable lounge chairs, and sliding doors that allows in soothing tropical breezes. The rooms have vaulted ceilings and an overhead fan, a comfortable sitting area, a private bath and a fully stocked kitchen.
Marigot Bay - with its palm-studded beach, sailing boats and yachts, restaurants and its small supermarket, and exquisite bakery - is stunning. Rainforest Hideaway, while being the most expensive of the Marigot Bay restaurants, is the best, offering the most romantic ambiance and the most delicious and elegantly presented meals. It is a Marigot Bay experience not to be missed.
Our week at Nature's Paradise was like living a dream. We enjoyed the sweeping views of the Caribbean, lush tropical gardens, fragrant flowers, colorful birds, chattering tree frogs and millions of stars of the milky way. It was a romantic and peaceful vacation experience. We felt like we were at one with nature and the universe.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nature's Paradise. Our growing yearn to return makes us wish we had stayed longer. |

Nature's Paradise is superb! Visited: December 2007 |

My husband and I have just returned from eight nights at Nature's Paradise, and we had a truly wonderful time. St. Lucia itself was beautiful, but what really made our trip extra special was our choice of accommodation - and most importantly, David & Wanda who own it.
Nature's Paradise had two self contained, one-bedroom cottages perched high on a cliff overlooking the sea. We stayed in Banana Cottage which was lovely. It was completely private and we had a fabulous view from our large balcony.
Inside, no attention to detail had been spared, with a well stocked kitchen, hairdryer in the bathroom, plenty of local information, lots of space, nice room decoration (some of David’s own photos were on the walls - a nice personal touch). There were even a couple of umbrellas in case you get caught in a brief tropical shower.
A delicious breakfast was served each morning by David and Wanda in their house. It included fresh fruit, juice, homemade breads, cheese, jam and coffee. Also, guests have their own kitchen in the cottage to prepare meals and snacks if you want.
However, the restaurants in Marigot Bay (Chateau Mygo and The Rainforest Hideaway recommended) were only a five-minute drive away (down a rather adventurous road - hence the need for a jeep!).
David and Wanda's own house, as well as the cottages, were set amongst beautiful gardens, lovingly planted and looked after by Wanda.
The pool was in the most spectacular setting – high on a ridge, overlooking the sea and Roseau Valley.
David and Wanda were very welcoming and hospitable. They uprooted from NYC a few years ago and have built a delightful home in St. Lucia. Their love for the island was infectious, and every morning they advised us on the best places to go and explore, and great places to eat. They also told us all about the history of the island, the culture, and nature - and even the local gossip from Marigot Bay itself!
David runs his own (excellent) private, guided tour down to Soufriere, the volcano, Diamond Falls and Gardens, lunch at Ladera for the amazing Piton views (don't miss the Pitons!) and a dip in some hot springs (well off the beaten tourist path). It was helpful to do this reasonably early during our stay, as we got a feel for other places we might like to visit and knew what to look out for when we went off exploring in our jeep on our own.
David and Wanda can also offer advice on day sailing charters, zip line tours and myriad other things.
If you are looking for a unique experience, and truly want to get more out of a trip to St. Lucia, Nature’s Paradise won’t disappoint. |

We just came back, and simply must write a review to share the excellent time passed at Nature's Paradise!
We also immediately booked another week for December, and just booked the flight to make sure we'll not miss this new opportunity to be there.
It was just wonderful, and Dave and Wanda were such nice and helpful people.
The cottages had a great view, and all you need to enjoy your stay in this great island. Everything was just perfect! |

This is the perfect place to stay for travelers who do not care about staying at crowded resorts. The surroundings are so beautiful - overlooking the sea and gorgeous tropical plants.
The drive up to the property is exciting and different. You definitely want to rent a 4-wheel drive!
It's easy to get down to Marigot Bay to visit several great bars and restaurants, and I enjoyed scuba diving from there as well. Marigot Bay has a friendly, "you're one of the family" atmosphere, and you'll feel like a local in no time.
The owners of Nature's Paradise, Dave and Wanda, have worked hard and have done a wonderful job of creating a beautiful place to stay.
Our trip to St. Lucia would not have been the same without Dave's great company and the ready advice he gave us about the best places to go and very interesting local stories! We felt like we were staying with friends instead of at a hotel.
I have been very fortunate to travel quite a lot, and this is the best place I've ever stayed! |

So you've decided on St Lucia. Good choice. Here's the thing: you can do the resort, but you could be anywhere. You won't know anything about the place, the people or even the real atmosphere of the island and you are missing out big time.
It does not have to be that way! It is actually so easy to find alternatives, and they do not come better than Nature's Paradise, located in picturesque Marigot Bay.
Dave and Wanda have prepared two self-contained cottages high on a ridge. They are nestled among tropical gardens, with private own balconies to sit on while you gaze at the boats sailing by far below.
You do need a four-wheel drive to get up the hill, but it is definitely worthwhile as soon you are sipping a cool drink by a pool with incredible ocean views and hummingbirds zipping by.
Dave and Wanda make it easy. They can arrange your car for you - as well as any trips or tours you are interested in. They will also serve you a lovely breakfast of fruit, fresh bread - and if you're very lucky, Wanda's banana bread. They will generally give you any information you need to enjoy your stay.
The location is excellent, as it is only a five-minute rattle down the hill to Marigot Bay, equipped with small supermarket, restaurants, a local dive shop and, of course, the marina.
It's lovely to take the small boat (which acts as a ferry across the bay) to eat, and the whole place has a low key vibe which is refreshing (when compared to the dense hotel cluster at Rodney Bay).
Do get on the road and explore. The island is beautiful, and if the people initially look a little forbidding in expression - once you're out of the "tourist zone", all it takes is a wave and a smile to overcome their reservations.
We got lost plenty of times, and always enjoyed asking for directions and sharing a joke. It was always nice to come home to our little cottage, though, and share our experiences with Dave and Wanda over breakfast the next morning.
If you don't usually do independent travel, this is a great introduction. You will be comfortable, safe and relaxed, but will have left the screaming hordes far behind.
If you are used to doing your own thing, you will relish the friendly welcome, lovely location and privacy that Natures Paradise ensures. |

My husband and I returned from St.Lucia last week, after two weeks here. What a wonderful trip! The island was simply beautiful - its people, views and food were all unforgettable.
The best experience, however, was Natures Paradise. The place, a small bed and breakfast, was beautifully located above Marigot Bay. The views from the cottages, decks and the pool were amazing.
Our hosts, Wanda and David, woke us up every day with good breakfast and music. They were able to suggest a place to see or a thing to do every day. Both of them know the island very well, and did the activities or trips themselves. Also, they had all the resources and know a lot of local people to make the vacation very exciting.
Therefore, at the end of our vacation, we had an impression that we knew the island not only as tourists, but as its residents as well.
This was the best place we have ever stayed. We both loved it. |

Recently, I have returned from the beautiful island of St. Lucia with my wife. It was my first trip to the Caribbean, and I didn't know what to expect. However, everything good that I read about the island came true.
We stayed at Natures Paradise (one of the two cottages), a small resort owned by David and Wanda in Marigot Bay. The cottages were very tastefully decorated, spacious, with a large bathroom, kitchen and a deck with a gorgeous view. Additionally, they had a very pretty pool with even better view.
Our hosts served us breakfast at about eight o'clock, and afterwards were always ready with suggestions on what to do. They also helped us with a car rental company and all necessary reservations.
We visited Castries, Soufriere, Sulphur Springs, Rodney Bay; and spent time on beautiful beaches. We took a sunset cruise on a pirate ship "Unicorn" and saw the Pitons. Every day was full of attractions, and it seemed that we didn't have enough time.
We will definitely visit the island again!

My husband and I returned from a week-long vacation in gorgeous St Lucia.
The photos on the site didn't do it justice! It was unbelievably beautiful! The road up from Marigot Bay was bumpy, steep and slow - but it is so worth the climb.
The main house was spectacular. The view from the covered balcony was breathtaking. The tropical breakfast will leave you pleasantly stuffed. They go out of their way to give you the highest quality of fresh fruit, juices, coffee, breads, cheese, jams and jellies. Breakfast kept us going until mid-afternoon when we'd go out for a late lunch/early supper.
We stayed in the Coconut room for four nights, then moved to the Avocado cottage for the remaining three nights. The villa was spacious, extremely private and had a remarkable view of Marigot Bay's hills and the Caribbean Sea. There were little shy lizards, birds galore and tree frogs and crickets.
The pool was also private, surrounded by towering plants and trees, and perched overlooking the Caribbean Sea. There was a 180 degree view (at least) of the Sea, and a beautiful view of the southern mountains and Roseau Bay. We spent many hours in the pool and under the umbrella on the deck. It was warm and the pool was always cooling us down, especially before bed.
We also took an eco-tour, and what an adventure it was! It was a great introduction on how to interact with the locals, how to buy coconuts, where to get fresh casava bread, which rasta vendors are the best.
The hosts, David and Wanda, were courteous and professional. Being world-travelers before they planted roots in St Lucia, they know exactly what guests want. They went above and beyond all expectations. They gave priceless tips and recommendations. We loved it! |

Dave and Wanda, our hosts at Nature's Paradise, were incredible. Our honeymoon couldn't have been better.
We were advised on every aspect of our vacation; the service was very personal. We were given tips about where to eat, the best snorkeling beaches, how to get around, and fun stuff to do, just to name a few.
The cabin we stayed in had an amazing view, a comfy four-poster bed, a great kitchen, access to a refreshing pool, and was surrounded by lush vegetation.
I never want to stay in a big hotel again! |

This was an adventure I never could have had on my own.
Nature's Paradise owners were so knowledgable about the island and all it has to offer. I never could have found the mineral springs, the little beaches, the Grand Pitons, the local market...the personal guided tours are not to be missed.
Dave and Wanda were fun, friendly, and energetic guides with class. Who else would think of drinks and appetizers at the Ladrea Resort after a day of hiking the streams, mountains or forests of St. Lucia?
My visit to a local plantation where bananas, mangos, coconuts and tomatoes were presented to me by the owner was very educational and delicious.
The cabins were beautiful and relaxing, and the views from the property were awesome. They also had a great continental breakfast.
In addition, the little town of Marigot Bay had a great bar where visitors mingled with locals, and local bands entertained in a garden setting. Dancing there was fun and romantic. Don't miss this spot if you are single. Nights by the pool are romantic, too.

Our "home away from home" for one week was Natures Paradise in Maragot Bay, St. Lucia. We couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. Our hosts, David and Wanda Wallace saw to it that all our needs were taken care of.
We stayed in the Banana Cottage which had a great view of the Caribbean Ocean. This was our first time in St. Lucia, so we didn't have a clue about what to see and do.
David was very helpful in suggesting activities, restaurants, and tours. His personal tour offered to us was fantastic. He knew just where to go and was a plethera of information concerning St. Lucia, its history, and the background behind every place he took us.
We would recommend Natures Paradise to anyone wanting a special romantic hideaway. |

We arrived expecting a romantic, tropical paradise, with just a touch of adventure, and Nature's Paradise gave us all this and more.
The setting was a perfect romantic hideaway overlooking the Caribbean. David and Wanda were the perfect hosts providing exceptional accommodation in two cottages, fabulous breakfasts in the Main House and a wealth of helpful information and advice. Wanda's gardens were a credit to her hard work and imagination.
The adventure came with every trip we took down the hill in the jeep to nearby Marigot Bay (perhaps the most stunning part of St. Lucia). The views were spectacular from above and around the Bay where we could idle away many an hour in the restaurants (some of which are accessible by water taxi only). We never had a bad meal during the whole fortnight.
Nature's Paradise was an ideal base from which to explore the island with its stunning scenery and beautiful beaches. Highlights of our trip included waterfalls, botanical gardens, tropical rainforests and the volcano!
St. Lucia compares very favorably with the many holiday destinations which we have sampled throughout the world, particularly within the Caribbean. It was Nature's Paradise that made our stay all the more memorable and it was, without question, the best accommodation we have stayed in. |
