Cancelled my stay and they have not paid me back Visited: April 2004 |

I booked a stay with Hummingbird last July for April 2004, but have had to cancel. Their Terms and Conditions state that they will refund my deposit, but they've not responded to my e-mails, faxes or letters.
People who've stayed seem to love the place, pity they are not responsible enough to honor their T's & C's. |

My husband and I joined his brother and wife for a seven-day stay. I cannot say enough nice things about this resort.
The food was outstanding, with fresh fruit and great choices for breakfast. (With six or more days, you get breakfast - which was the way to go.) We also enjoyed fresh fish/lobster for dinner, and great drinks (try the guava daquiri).
The view was spectacular, the pool was great and beach was good also. However, the best snorkeling/ diving was up the road at Anse Chastanet. We walked there, but would recommend a water taxi.
The rooms were spotless with excellent beds/mattresses and fresh flowers daily. Finally, the staff was better than any we have encountered anywhere else. They were friendly and efficient without being overly solicitous. (Thank you Censia, Gus, Kacy).
Things moved at a more leisurely pace in St. Lucia, and it could be hot and humid. So, if you are wanting air conditioning, video games and quick meals, this is not the place for you. However, if you enjoy great views, food, people and nature, this is paradise! |

Absolutely wonderful experience in a magical setting. Visited: April 2002 |

We recently spent a magical week on the lovely island of St. Lucia. We stayed at the charming Hummingbird Beach Resort, in their Superior Piton Room. Our room overlooked the Petit Piton Mountain and the harbor of Soufriere.
The resort (really a quaint inn nestled just above the waterfront) had all the features of a tiny lovely little tropical paradise. It was complete with a beautiful setting, charming rooms, lovely landscaping, a fine restaurant, and a warm welcoming staff.
We could not have been more pleased. In fact, we plan to return again every year, and feel that we have found a new "home" on this magical island.

We stayed in the Hummingbird for a couple of days and we enjoyed it. The setting is beautiful and the views are the best in the area. Of course you pay for all of this.
The rooms have no air conditioning though. We left the hotel because it is not really a bargain (expensive actually).
For example, one day we had two pancakes a coffee and a tea for breakfast and the charge turned out to be 76 EC$ (which is about 30 US$ including taxes).
If you have plenty of money it is a beautiful place otherwise we suggest to go to another place. |

Fantastic! Visited: January 2001 |

We stayed at the Hummingbird for a week in January of 2001. This hotel was fantastic.
Our room (no. 9) had a lovely view of the Pitons, Soufriere, and the ocean. The location is near almost all of St. Lucia's tourist sites.
The food at the restaurant was top notch and the staff treated like us like family. We will definitely be back again in the future. |

Romantic and exotic place for an unforgettable holiday Visited: March 2000 |

We stayed at the Hummingbird for a week in March 2000 and we had the time of our lives!!! We had room number 4 and it was great (if they are available, we would suggest rooms 1/2/3 though: they have the best view). Our room was ten meters from the sea and you can hear the sound of the waves when you go to bed in the evening and when you wake up in the morning: absolutely wonderful and relaxing!
The hotel is located at Soufriere's beachfront and even if the beach is not the best in St. Lucia, it's really picturesque since there are plenty of colorful fishing boats and you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Petit Piton.
In the garden that surrounds the hotel there are plenty of exotic and extraordinary flowers and you'll find some of these flowers in your room every day (on the bed, on the coffee table and in the bathroom).
Whilst we were out exploring during the day, we would return to the hotel's restaurant for dinner, which is definitely one of the most romantic on the island and the food is absolutely gorgeous (you have to try the deep fried shrimps, the fish cakes and the fish terrine).
The staff are friendly and professional and they'll make you feel like you are at a friend's house. Have one of their great exotic cocktails while seated around the pool at sunset and you'll feel like you'd never like to go back home!!! |
