Almond Morgan Bay is great for kids. Visited: December 2006 |

This place is great for kids. It is not a resort for a couple wanting rest and relaxation away from the kids! It felt like being Disney World. |

Wedding planners beware! Visited: October 2005 |

I was planning to have my Oct. wedding at this location. However, they have pulled a bait and switch and made the whole thing a HUGE nightmare! After we had confirmed all our plans they came back and said they would be closing the resort for repairs the week of my wedding, so they had to move us to another resort. A pain, but ok, the other resort was nice and they said they would honor the price quoted (that I have passed on to my guests). Then they said they would only honor that price for people who have already booked, and the real price would be 3x higher, thereby making it impossible for 90% of my guests. And now we find out that they are still taking reservations for the dates we reserved. These are bad people, taking advantage of a bride to make a few more bucks. Stay away from this place! |

This was a very nice place. We enjoyed clean rooms; good dependable food; good location (15 minutes to Castries or Rodney Bay); very good service; and plenty of sun or shade at the beach.
In addition, there was excellent sailing at the resort; they provided Hobie Cats; and there was a good blend of couples and families with neither one overwhelming the other. It was not luxurious, but certainly comparable to other all-inclusives we've stayed at, and this was an excellent value.
The only downside, and it was very minor on little things, was that a little better maintenance was in order. |

We can't wait to go back. Visited: November 2004 |

We were here for our 20th anniversary in November. The room was clean and spacious. And the staff could not do enough for us...including putting our towels in the shape of swans, having freshly picked flowers placed throughout the room, and an anniversary poem left on our bed by a member of housekeeping.
The only improvement we felt that was needed was the food. But then again, I don't think we've found an all-inclusive with good food as of yet. We are looking forward to going back! |

This was a very relaxing holiday. We enjoyed the pool facilities and the table tennis. We also thought the trips into Castries and to the waterfall were excellent. |

The food and everything were great. I had my 50th birthday here and would come back here again and again. Note, we are Sandals snobs, but this place was heaven, and believe me I know.

A lovely hotel on a wonderful island. Visited: January 2004 |

This was a perfect spot to enjoy the island of St. Lucia. St. James Club was a perfect combination of good service, food and comfortable accommodations.
The staff was polite and always ready to help when necessary.
The chef and his cooking staff always had a good selection of local and international dishes available at the different restaurants.
Thanks for a memorable holiday! |

No Caribbean white sand or turquoise sea....it is aptly named CHOC bay as the water was always a muddy brown as was the sand, but then its a volcanic island. Staff were ok but for almost the entire week there was no Diet Coke, tho you could buy it in the hotel shop!No one could be bothered to sort it out.If you have kids then its fine ...we didn't and frankly they were a pain!!! |

I'm from Scotland but now live in Barbados. I went to St. Lucia to get some R and R (even in Barbados, if you live there you still worry about feeding the dogs, washing up etc,). We found St. James Club Morgan Bay to be great.
They offered good food and a clean room. They also had a great kids club. Our nine-year-old did water sports with us in the morning, then after lunch we dropped him at the kids club for the afternoon, collected him later to shower, relax then dropped him at night to eat with all the other kids. He loved it! So did we, because we had great relaxing meals without him being bored with us.
All restaurants were very good and well worth it. We're going back with family from Vancouver in February. |

We have just returned from spending two weeks at St. James Club. We had a superior room, which looked out over the Caribbean, and our accommodation, which was of a high standard, was always spotless.
The standard and choice of food and alcohol were both excellent. We had no problem booking the Palm Grill. In fact, we ate there for each of our last seven nights. The service in this restaurant was extremely good, as it was throughout the resort.
One of our sons' birthday occurred while we were here and Sharon in the Palm Grill decorated a table for him with little flowers and bought him a card and present. While presenting him with a cake(that we purchased in advance) the entire staff (chef and all) came to the table singing to him. We could not praise the staff here highly enough. We definitley miss Sharon, Allison, Kurt and Benus and company.
The only drawback we encountered was the fact that SJC did not recognize 3/4 length trousers as gents pants - they classified them as shorts instead. If guests wore them to the restaurant, they were sent back to change, and there was no flexibility shown (I had to return in the rain). We believe that the resort needs to update its policy to reflect the world's changes in fashion.
The big question on any holiday is "Would you go back?". We definitely would. |

This was our first visit to St. Lucia - we had heard such wonderful things about the island and this resort in particular, so our hopes were hig. I am happy to say, we were not disappointed.
The first thing that struck us was the staff. They were all so friendly! As we walked from our room to the gorgeous new adult pool area, we passed several employees who all smiled and greeted us - it was just a really friendly, warm atmosphere.
The food was great, the beach was hard to leave and we returned home completely relaxed and all ready to plan another visit! I don't usually write reviews, but felt I should share this experience. |

Too many downsides. Visited: October 2002 |

I am amazed that people without kids would pick St James. We certainly regretted being there.
It is very much a family oriented resort, complete with plastic glasses and afternoon bingo. Also compared to other apparently comparable resorts, the choice of food is poor, both in quality and variety. The general facilities were also much in need of improvement e.g. the floodlit tennis courts were permanently closed and the surface of the daytime courts were in need of repair.
Unfortunately, the general fabric of the resort has not been attended to for some time and is consequently now in even more need of repair. We experienced scruffy, chipped restaurant furniture, towel rails hanging off the wall and a rather suspect damp stain on the bedroom ceiling.
There were certainly a lot of kids around and lots for them to do but unless this is your main priority I’d suggest you give this resort a wide berth. To be honest even if it is your priority I’d make very sure that this resort is what you are looking for.
Finally, take great care with the courtesy rooms at the end of your holiday, as Reception hands out multiple keys to the room which can come as a bit of a surprise if you’re planning on showering on your own!

We just returned from a two-week vacation at Wyndham Sugar Bay. The resort was very impressive, with extensive gardens, that were immaculately maintained. A watercourse ran though the gardens, featuring various wild birds, iguanas, etc.
The 101 steps down to the pool were quite enjoyable, as the views are marvelous and there were plenty of different viewpoints to stop and look at. But there was also a very regular shuttle service that took you down to the pool.
The pools were more than adequate with three sections giving plenty of space to find your own area to swim or play games. People have commented on the water being too cold, however we found it a pleasant relief from the sun.
By the pool there was a snack bar, which served chicken, vegetarian options, beef burgers, hotdogs and salad. They also had free crisps, which were available all day. There were never more than three people waiting for food (note: if you want a chicken burger, it takes 15 – 20 minutes, as it is cooked from fresh).
For a more substantial lunch, there was a buffet at the Mangrove Café, which was also by the pool. They had dishes that would suit the whole family, from pizza, chips, cakes and ice cream to pasta, spaghetti and meatballs, salads and various Caribbean fare.
The evening meals provided two choices, the buffet dinner in the Mangrove Café, or a la Carte in the Manor House. We did the buffet dinner once, and it was excellent. But our preference was the Manor House, we tend to enjoy dressing up for dinner. The ambiance was romantic, with candles and low lights. Some nights there was a saxophone player, which was pleasant.
The breakfast at the Manor House was sumptuous. Everything was available - fruit, made to order omelettes eggs, bacon, potatoes, cereals, Danish pastries, etc.
The entertainment was on par with other resorts we have been to, i.e. Sandals. Every night at the Ocean Club there was a band and singer. There were also bands and a weekly show by the poolside.
There were no free shuttles to town, but the taxis service was quite excellent.
The excursion desk was more than helpful. We went on various excursions. Some were tailor-made to our request - everything was organized for us and nothing was too much trouble for them.
We found this to be an excellent hotel. It was well managed, with excellent service and food. We thought it compared very favorable with other 5-star hotels we had visited in the Caribbean. The service issue must have been addressed, as we found throughout the resort the service to be friendly, efficient and always helpful. We would not hesitate to go back if we were to visit the US Virgin Islands again.

Better and worse than I expected. Visited: March 2002 |

Every March, my husband and I take a week in the Caribbean at an all-inclusive property. This year we picked St. Lucia, since the prices were so low due to a sale and lack of travelers.
Our room was wonderful, with a huge baby-blue wicker canopy bed, and a good sized balcony. It was always very clean, although they did clean the room late in the day which was annoying sometimes.
The restaurants were better than any other all-inclusive resort we've been to. The variety was unbelieveable, and to have a dining room instead of buffet was a nice surprise.
My complaint was the beach. As the man from New York gave a perfect description, it looked like a chocolate shake. But it was clean and warm.
Near the bar by the pool, as the week went by, a horrid smell increased as if they spilled a gallon of milk and it just baked in the sun. It literally me gag each day.
The hotel put out "early morning coffee" by the pool. This was a wonderful idea. But shouldn't it be put out around 6:00 a.m. for early risers instead of 7:00 a.m. when you can get coffee anywhere?
The ride to and from the airport was a killer - 1 1/2 hours jammed in the back of a mini-van taxi. But that had nothing to do with the hotel.
It was a wonderful, beautiful place, but I don't think I'd go back. |

I thought it was about time someone set the record straight about this resort. I have just returned from the best holiday I’ve ever had.
The honeymoon was booked over a year ago and we were both very excited. However, about a month before we were due to travel, I decided to read the review on this web site and was mortified. We had spent an awful lot of money on the holiday and a lot of people’s reviews of the resort were horrifying to read.
Obviously, this somewhat removed a lot of the excitement I had previously been having and I couldn’t stop thinking about sorting out a contingency plan should the resort be as bad as the reviews.
However, upon our arrival all my worries quickly disappeared. We arrived at the resort at about 8:00 p.m. The resort was beautifully lit and it was everything I ever dreamed of. We were given a free room upgrade as it was our honeymoon and the room was wonderful – very large with a huge comfortable bed.
All of the staff was very friendly. We had fresh flowers in our room every day; the food was very nice – very much something for everyone and lots of it; and the resort facilities were brilliant – always something to do (if you wanted to).
And as for the gentleman’s comment about a holiday camp – only if you wanted to see it like that. Yes, activities were provided daily, but you didn’t have to join in and if you chose not to those activities being run did not affect those people who simply wanted to sunbathe.
All in all, a truly fantastic holiday.

Very disappointing room and beach area Visited: March 2002 |

Paid for a sea view room but wasn't worth the money as the sea area/beach requires investment by Wyndham to clean it up. My room was very damp, bed damp - even after a change still the same. Food: they really try but just not getting there. Lots of variety so you will find something palatable and mostly friendly staff.
Witnessed several weddings and this is where they seem to excel. Pity about the rest of the guests who get the normal holiday camp - bingo, pool olympics, etc.
Overall, not a bad hotel compared with others we visited while picking up guests for trips - no luxury 4-star more like a 3-star. |

I am about to go on my holiday to Saint Lucia, and I am looking forward to it.
I have already come here and I rated it very high.
The food, water sports, "Kids Klub" - absolutly everthing was simply the best.
It was the best holiday ever and, as I am only 12, I am even more excited. |

It has it's up and downs. Visited: December 2001 |

Just returned from my Christmas through New Year’s visit at the Wyndham Morgan Bay with my wife and two boys ages 14 and 7. Like the 1+ hour trip from the airport, the place definitely has it's ups and downs.
On the upside, it's a great place for kids. There's lots of things for them to do and lots of kids to do them with.
This was our first all-inclusive vacation (maybe not our last) and we found the food to be not as bad as we expected. There’s plenty of stuff for the kids to eat and an ever-changing menu for adults. The drinks at the bar were good and dumb island swill that you always wonder why you ordered it. The staff was pleasant when they had to be. The rooms were adequate (once they got the kinks out) and the maid service was fine.
Now the downs: The beach is terrible. The water (no fault of the hotel) looks like a chocolate shake with waves. Definitely not your clear azure blue. Also, if you get a waterside room, be prepared for a crashing surf that doesn't respect your sleeping patterns.
In terms of the grounds and structures, it feels and looks like Wyndham might just have to put some bucks into a redo. They're a little shabby and not too chic. Most of the facilities suffer from this tired resort syndrome. It wouldn't take a lot to remedy. A little paint and carpentry and voila!
Aside from some dumb downs (like magnetic keys that never worked and a front desk that pretty much told you,"We don't do that" or "do it yourself"), we picky travelers felt that overall the Wyndham had a certain easy charm that was hard to resist—especially at an amazingly low (at least for us) rate. |

Excellent 4-star all-inclusive; highly recommend. Visited: November 2001 |

We just returned from an excellent week at Wyndham Morgan Bay. This 4-star hotel lives up to its grading, with good quality accommodation, food and drink. The highlight has to be its great location on a fantastic beach 50 yards from the hotel's own pool.
All-inclusive means table d'hote dining in the evening of a high standard, not just buffets. It also includes motorized watersports—so water-skiing, banana rides and tube rides are free, not to mention Hobie Cat sailing etc.
The staff was very friendly, particularly towards the children.
Wyndham Morgan is on Choc Bay, about a 90-minute taxi ride from the airport. It's a tiring transfer, but worth it.
We'll be back!
