It has it's up and downs. Visited: December 2001 |

Just returned from my Christmas through New Year’s visit at the Wyndham Morgan Bay with my wife and two boys ages 14 and 7. Like the 1+ hour trip from the airport, the place definitely has it's ups and downs.
On the upside, it's a great place for kids. There's lots of things for them to do and lots of kids to do them with.
This was our first all-inclusive vacation (maybe not our last) and we found the food to be not as bad as we expected. There’s plenty of stuff for the kids to eat and an ever-changing menu for adults. The drinks at the bar were good and dumb island swill that you always wonder why you ordered it. The staff was pleasant when they had to be. The rooms were adequate (once they got the kinks out) and the maid service was fine.
Now the downs: The beach is terrible. The water (no fault of the hotel) looks like a chocolate shake with waves. Definitely not your clear azure blue. Also, if you get a waterside room, be prepared for a crashing surf that doesn't respect your sleeping patterns.
In terms of the grounds and structures, it feels and looks like Wyndham might just have to put some bucks into a redo. They're a little shabby and not too chic. Most of the facilities suffer from this tired resort syndrome. It wouldn't take a lot to remedy. A little paint and carpentry and voila!
Aside from some dumb downs (like magnetic keys that never worked and a front desk that pretty much told you,"We don't do that" or "do it yourself"), we picky travelers felt that overall the Wyndham had a certain easy charm that was hard to resist—especially at an amazingly low (at least for us) rate. |

Excellent 4-star all-inclusive; highly recommend. Visited: November 2001 |

We just returned from an excellent week at Wyndham Morgan Bay. This 4-star hotel lives up to its grading, with good quality accommodation, food and drink. The highlight has to be its great location on a fantastic beach 50 yards from the hotel's own pool.
All-inclusive means table d'hote dining in the evening of a high standard, not just buffets. It also includes motorized watersports—so water-skiing, banana rides and tube rides are free, not to mention Hobie Cat sailing etc.
The staff was very friendly, particularly towards the children.
Wyndham Morgan is on Choc Bay, about a 90-minute taxi ride from the airport. It's a tiring transfer, but worth it.
We'll be back!

Too much money for all-inclusive Visited: August 2001 |

We arrived at the resort anticipating a relaxing atmosphere, white beach and crystal-clear waters. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed from the beginning. Despite the vacancies, we had paid heavily for the room upgrade in order to have a seaside view (forget about garden view rooms).
The place needs updating. The bathrooms are too small, and common areas slowly falling apart.
The beach is nice but definitely too small. You can enjoy some water sports but there is not much education for novices.
The food was OK but how long you can eat hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch. Food and drink is all-inclusive but you cannot ask for anything in a bottle or you will have to pay extra. The service is very slow and maybe that’s natural with people of St. Lucia but I don’t like savoring my dinner for 3 hours.
In general, the place is not that bad and one can even enjoy some lovely sunsets and live music, but the quality of service and the accommodations definitely don’t justify the high price you have to pay for the stay.

Nice for an all-inclusive property Visited: August 2001 |

The Wyndham is nice for an all-inclusive property. In my experience, the food was fine, the staff was courteous, and the property was attractive. I thought the property compared well to the other all-inclusive or super-inclusive type properties in the area and was a good value.
In my opinion, this property is better suited for families than for couples. Most of the large resorts (including Wyndham) are located near the north end of the island. This is not the most scenic part of Saint Lucia. The quaint fishing villages, scenic bays, the Pitons, the rain forest, and the volcano are all thirty minutes to an hour or more drive away from this part of the island. Snorkeling and diving attractions are also away from this area. Trips to these areas are typically not included in your all-inclusive resort package, and can be pretty expensive. |

Very disappointing Visited: June 2001 |

My husband and I went to this hotel for our honeymoon. Upon arrival, our room was not clean and there was brown water coming out of the faucet in the bathroom. Dinner included spoiled seafood salad and overcooked meat. Breakfast was no better, and I ended up eating Frosted Flakes with warm milk after trying the undercooked bacon and cold scrambled eggs, while seated next to a screaming two year old child.
At this point, we contacted our travel agent and paid an upcharge to move to another hotel. It was the luxury resort that we expected the Wyndham to be.
I would not recommend this hotel for any vacation, particularly a honeymoon. When we changed resorts, we were charged a hefty cancellation fee by Wyndham. When we protested, the general manager said that he would investigate and be back with us. He never was.
Our advice: save yourself the headache and book with another resort from the onset. |

Excellent resort with good watersports Visited: May 2001 |

Just returned from Wyndham Morgan Bay, where we spent a fantastic two weeks. The staff was excellent and relaxed. The watersports guys were particularly good - especially Eskimo and Nelbert.
With regard trips, do not miss Joy's boat trip. It's not usually offered by the representatives, but you'll find his brochures by the watersports hut. It's a great excursion covering visits to the sulfur springs, bathing in a natural waterfall, snorkeling in a bay between the pitons and a barbecue on a private beach cooked by Joy's mum and sister. It’s $65 US for a trip lasting from 8am to around 2pm, and well worth it.
Rooms at the resort are airy and beds are huge (6 feet wide). It’s probably worthwhile requesting top floor when you book, as some ground floor rooms have restricted views (certainly for rooms in the 300's). We requested a move, and after smiling sweetly, we managed to get an upgrade to a room with a better view.
When we were there, they were only at about 40% capacity so it was fairly quiet and not too busy on the beach, which has easy and quick access to bars and restaurants.
The food was good to excellent, depending upon what you had. We went off site one night and had a really good meal at the Coal Pit, which was in a beautiful location and had a good selection of fish and wine. It was $10 US for a taxi.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable stay, and I could have quite happily stayed another week.

It was okay. Visited: May 2001 |

My husband and I spent eight days at the Wyndham. Let's start out with the beach: very, very small! The pool was small as well. The food was not that great--not much variety. The service I would say was the worst on my list. My husband and I were playing night tennis and we wanted to get a cold drink before we went to bed. It was about 1 am and the bartender refused to serve us, saying that the bar was closed! I immediately asked to see a manager, he said there was none available. He finally gave us a drink of water as I attempted to get it myself!
This was not a great vacation; it definitely lacked nightly entertainment. The best day was when we toured the island for a half day via bus and catamaran. Most of the action was on the other side of the island by the Pitons. I hate to sound so negative, but we've gone to many all-inclusive resorts before and returned with wonderful reviews.

Almost too good to be true! Visited: April 2001 |

My family has vacationed in Caribbean Islands ranging from Barbados to Jamaica. The Wyndham Morgan Bay is, without a doubt, the best Caribbean resort that I've been to. The grounds are pretty and well maintained, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the bathrooms are well stocked with lotions, bath gels and fluffy towels. Our second-floor balcony overlooked both the pool area and the beach. Fresh, cool breezes wafted through the large windows all day long. (Have no fear; the rooms are all well air-conditioned, if you prefer that.)
The staff was ever-smiling and willing to please, and made just enough fuss over my toddlers to gratify any mother--without being the least bit intrusive. No request seemed to be a problem. When my one-year-old fell ill, medical attention was readily available on the compound, at no additional charge.
The cuisine was very good, with an ample selection of fresh fruits at breakfast and sumptuous deserts at lunch and dinner. Watersports abounded in the calm waters off the beach and the watersports staff spiced things up with a sailing regatta over the weekend.
All in all, it was the most fantastic Caribbean vacation my family has ever had. I recommend this hotel to everyone from honeymooners to vacationing groups to families with children.

A great time; a good value. Visited: April 2001 |

Overall, this was a nice spot, and was a pretty good deal for the money. We upgraded to an Oceanfront Room away from the pool and were glad we did.
The food was pretty decent, but we tended to eat at Tradewinds for most of our meals, since lunch at the grill was basically food served in chafing dishes over a can of sterno. It wasn’t bad once or twice, but we didn't want that every day. This being my first time at an all-inclusive resort and being a picky eater, I was most concerned with the food. I did grow tired of having a buffet for at least two meals every day. And they seemed to cook the fish until it resembled particleboard. They did, however, have lots of choices, and lots of fresh fruits and salads, which was great in the warm weather.
We also ate out a couple nights to break things up and get off the resort property. The Coal Pot in Vigie Cove was excellent and Froggy Jacks across the marina from Coal Pot was okay.
If you go, book some excursions outside of the resort. We were glad to get away during our day trips. I think if I go back to St Lucia, I'll pick a place without kids. (This place does seem to cater well to families.)

A wonderful time. Visited: March 2001 |

We had a wonderful time at the Wyndham in St. Lucia. Our room was perfect--10 feet from the water. Make sure to ask for an oceanfront room on the ground floor so you can walk right out the door into the water.
The service was quick for the Caribbean and the people were all very friendly. The food was above average for an all-inclusive resort.
The grounds were beautiful, as was our room. The beach was small, as most people have noted, but I liked it that way. It’s an intimate beach with lovely chairs and lots of shade if desired. No hassles from the locals and great service for watersports etc. My only complaint was that the beach was cloudy from the sand and a bit cool in March. |

A wonderful Caribbean wedding location Visited: March 2001 |

We stayed here for 2 weeks in a Deluxe Oceanview Room. Our wedding was very well organized. Our photos and marriage certificate were in our room the same night. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and food quality and watersport facilities were very good. The only thing missing was children’s entertainment in the evening, and no children’s pool. Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. |

The best vacation I have ever taken! Visited: February 2001 |

I consider myself a "picky" person; champagne taste on a beer budget. However, I really cannot complain about Wyndham Morgan Bay. I could think really hard and come up with something, but it is not worth the effort.
Our room was on the top floor with a beautiful view of the grounds. In my opinion, it was much better than an ocean view. However, we all have different likes and dislikes. The cathedral ceiling, the size of the room and private balcony were excellent.
As with any place, the menu can only change so many times and eventually can become somewhat boring. However, once we knew about Tradewinds, we shared a lovely dinner there each evening.
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We even got to know the manager of the restaurant and felt like we were special people each time we entered. We often ate lunch at Tradewinds and occasionally one of us wanted a sandwich, so we sat on the side near the buffet restaurant and would bring our food over to Tradewinds. The breakfast at Tradewinds was great! There was more food and choices than I needed. Don't even think about dieting! The banana ice cream was the best ever!
The hotel cannot be responsible for the long bus ride to the airport and the color of the water. I enjoyed the beach and it was the first vacation where I have gone into the water on the beach.
It was a very relaxing vacation, when I wanted it to be, and very busy and fun-filled, when I wanted it to be. It was great just lazing around on the beach, getting a massage, walking the grounds for exercise, sitting on a bench reading and/or sleeping, going on a day trip (Pitons, volcano, etc.) or shopping in town.
The entertainment was not a Broadway show, but I enjoyed it the majority of the time. We also met a lot of nice people.
Reading some of the reviews I can't believe that these folks stayed at the same hotel we did (their comments: run down, dirty, poor service, etc.)
St. Lucia was a beautiful place and I would love to return again. However, there are so many places that I would like to visit, so I doubt that I will return. |

The Wyndham Morgan Bay Resort was very clean, friendly and well staffed. The food was great with the exception of the coffee that was extra strong; we were able to drink it by adding water. The water here was fine to drink. There wasn't much entertainment by the pool in the day but there were plenty of water sports going on. |

My wife and I spent seven nights at Wyndham and were very pleased with almost everything. We stayed in a superior room with a partially obscured ocean view. The room was very nice and kept clean by a very friendly person named Marthalina.
The beach was okay and the food was very good, especially at Tradewinds. Nightly entertainment was nice but didn't hold my attention for the entire week.
We took three tours throughout the week that we booked through Nadege at Sunlink Tours, who was very friendly and helpful. All the tours were wonderful and well worth the money.
The only complaint I have is that some of the staff wasn't very friendly. I had some experiences at the bar where I felt like I was bothering the people by asking for a drink. I also had some problems getting refills at the Palm Grill during dinner almost every night. Some staff members were great, but the attitude of the others is what will stick in my mind when I think about this trip.
Overall, I feel that Wyndham is a good value and I would recommend it for a good time. |

My brand-new husband and I just returned from our honeymoon at the Wyndham. We were very impressed -- with the resort, the staff, the food, the activities and the island. While it might not be the most posh resort on St. Lucia, it was a wonderful price for what we received.
The resort was immaculate, the staff pleasant and the food very good. There were many different activities (from evening entertainment to water sports) and the guests were welcome to join in -- but not harassed. While the resort did not afford great snorkeling opportunities, the island itself had many options. We recommend taking a tour to see some of these sites. The underwater world shouldn't be missed! |

I was at Morgan Bay Resort in April of 2000 and had a very relaxing 5 days here. I stayed in one of the ocean front rooms on the third floor, near the pool. If I had it to do over again, I would have stayed at one of the two ocean front buildings further down the beach away from the pool. The music and noise at night goes on pretty late.
Although the beach was not the best, it was still very pretty and certainly very calm (in the bay) . The food was excellent all around, except for the breakfast at Tradewinds, which wasn't my style. Make sure you get a beach chair early in the morning! They were in short supply and were gone by 10 or 11 a.m.
Overall, a highly recommended resort. |

We were in St. Lucia March 26-31. The Wyndham Morgan Bay Resort was a great place to stay. Our room was beautiful witha garden view. We could see the ocean from our room over the rooftops. The grounds were so lush, beautiful and very well maintained.
We saw three weddings when we were there. What a gorgeous setting to be married in.
The food was very good. For breakfast, you could get omelettes made to order and lots of other breakfast food. The Palm Grill was great for lunch. You could get made-to-order sandwiches. For dinner, there was the Tradewinds restaurant (reservation required) or the buffet which featured a theme every night. Both were very good.
The staff went out of there way to make our stay perfect.
The pool area is very nice as is the beach area. It isn't a huge beach but, it is big enough for everyone. They offered several watersports which are all included in the price of your stay. They include such activities as banana boats, catamarans, water skiing, tubing and canoes.
We did not take our children but, the resort was very child friendly. A kid's club was offered for ages 5-12 and babysitting services are also provided. Live entertainment was provided in the Sundowner every evening.
I just can't say enough about how great our trip to St. Lucia was. The Wyndham Morgan Bay was a great place to stay and relax. We are definitely going back. This was our first trip to St. Lucia but it definately isn't our last! |

A fun Millennium vacation. Visited: January 2000 |
| Posted by volcano |

My husband and I spent our 20th Anniversary at the Wyndham Morgan Bay Resort. We’ve enjoyed Caribbean vacations for many years, but never on St. Lucia. The Wyndham was our third choice actually, but was fine.
We usually do not like all-inclusives because we like to sample the local cuisine, but had no choice here. We met some lovely people with whom we corresponded for some time. I think everyone was really "up" for this vacation week because of the added mystery of the New Year's Eve over the Millennium, and this resort did it up big time! The staff was wonderful, friendly, generous, free champagne flowed all night, and we even received a plate of goodies and rum in our room that evening!
The beach itself was disappointing. We mostly enjoy the beach aspect of our vacations. A caution for those who get carsick: it is a good 90-minute ride from the airport to this resort, and the ride in the minivan is treacherous! Fast, furious, dark and bumpy with lots of curves. We met a few couples who were paying the $100 each to take a 15-minute helicopter ride to the airport for the trip back. It would have been worth it!
I'm sorry this resort did not offer a non-inclusive package. It was a little tedious hanging around there for each meal because it was already paid for; there looked to be many restaurants in the area or at least a short cab drive away.
The locals were extremely helpful and interesting. We had a $20 cab ride; we told the driver to take us to interesting places so we could see the island around the resort. This proved very enlightening and we had some beautiful views for photos. We also talked to one of the security guards one night who gave us a great deal of insight into St. Lucia. If I returned, it would be to a resort that had options other than all-inclusive, and a better beach.
