Q: I am going to St Maarten and St Thomas on a cruise.When shopping, What items are at the best prices in the 2 places? I am familiar with duty free shops, but am curious if there are any particular good deals there. Gemstones? Answer

| A: All the places that receive cruise ships know that the cruise passengers have money. Prices for everything go up when ships are in dock. Taxis, tours, you name it. They will deny this all day long. The shops around the docks, or any place a taxi driver would take you, are going to be pretty competitive with each other, but realize you can negotiate. |
