This small resort had very few sponsored activities, and no list of nearby activities and places to do them (e.g. diving, kayaking, windsurfing, zip lines, butterfly farm).
I may be spoiled by resorts with concierge staffs that help you plan activities, but I felt like precious time was lost researching, finding and scheduling activities on my own.
The small office and adjacent Internet access room were open only until 6:00 pm, and there were times I wanted Internet access or other assistance planning activities after that time.
In my studio unit: a) the microwave did not work, b) despite keeping doors always closed, I killed one or two mosquitoes in my room each night, c) five of 13 TV channels would drop out from several minutes to several days at a time, d) there was a permanent planter box mounted to the floor in the kitchen, making it awkward to position the kitchen table, e) bare hooks on a white wall showed where some type of art previously hung.
Two people primarily staffed the small office. Debbie was extremely helpful. Anna was not. |

My husband and I had an eight-night stay at La Vista. The staff was wonderful and so very friendly. The pool was the best on the island, and we have visited this island for over 20 years and stayed in many locations.
We had a wonderful studio unit with kitchen facilities, phone and cabel TV. Newspapers were delivered each morning right to our front door. The hotel also put us in touch with a wonderful day sail on "Random Wind". This was the best sailing and snorkeling trip we have taken in our 20+ years of visiting St. Maarten.
We will go back, and we will stay at La Vista on our next visit. |

La Vista was perfect for our family. We stayed in the oceanfront units in August, and we were practically by ourselves. Our kids loved the two pools and I loved the snorkeling right off of the beach.
The best thing about La Vista was that it was not a crowded tourist factory! It was a small hotel with a family feel. The staff couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating! |

The owners and staff are very obliging. It does not matter what you need, nothing is too much trouble. We find this hotel homey, and quiet. When we want the busy activity we just hop into the car and go to the action. When we come back it is serene at night, with the sounds of the breeze in the trees.
The rooms are very very clean. All the kitchen facilities you would want on holidays, and in good clean repair. We simply love this hotel. |
