This is a great example of how not to operate a resort. Visited: March 2007 |

This was my second or third stay at the Pelican.
The rooms were clean with full kitchen, and some had a view of the Caribbean.
My stays here are to sleep only, and I only visted the cafe above the casino once for breakfast and their "Donald Duck" orange juice. The fruit was exceptional - as were their egg beaters.
My only complaint is the 30-45 minutes to check in or out. It never ceases to amaze me! |

The Pelican Resort was not that bad. Visited: November 2005 |

'The Friendly Island" is the island slogan written on all of the license plates - and it was about half right. Although I must say the Pelican staff, excluding some at the front desk, were friendlier. That being said, I would think the job of appearing cheerful to a constant wave of pasty fat tourists could wear even on Mother Teresa.
The Pelican Resort was one that was probably really nice about fifteen years ago, but is still not bad. The cleaning staff seemed to do a good job with what they had to work with. Our room had a strong mildew smell which seemed to disappate from air conditioning and incense.
Whatever you do - do not fly Caribbean Sun. We thought they were completely incompetent and shouldn't even be running a one bus busline.
Our flight got delayed every hour for about eight hours, and we had to hunt down someone each time to find out what was going on. Then they gave out more boarding passes then there were seats. We sat on the tarmac for another hour and a half until security came to yank off the standees. We missed our connector and almost had to threaten bodily harm to get a hotel voucher. Half the travelers on this airline seemed to have similar problems.
I was really nervous about how they might handle maintenence on their fleet, too. It was an unnerving flight. |

The service from the manager, Elijah, was horrible. Visited: June 2005 |

I sent my daughter to the facility through Intreval International for her honeymoon. I specifically requested an ocean fromt room for her special time. Interval told me they had no control and to call the week before the wedding to request an ocean front. I spoke with Elijah who said it was on the ocean and one of the better rooms. When my daughter got there she was facing the parking lot for her HONEYMOON ! When I called Elijah to complain about the situation he said that at the time we spoke he told me it was ocean "VIEW"---why would I be satisfied with that and why would I call to complain if I knew it was ocean view. Elijah lied to me at the time of the initial call and said it was on the water and now he is "backpaddling" and telling me that he told me before arrival that it was an ocean view ! He lied to me and was uncooperative on the phone when I called to complain about the room--I would not recommend the Pelican to anyone nor would I recommend Interval International---they both pass the buck back and forth and I got no satisfaction from either one and my daughter is on her honeymoon looking at a parking lot!!!!!!! |

We had a great time at the Pelican. Visited: June 2004 |

I arrived with my wife and three boys (19, 19 and 22). We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment that was recently redone and it was great. The view was second to none.
The boys snorkeled, swam with the dolphins and rented water vehicles. The private beach was great. We drove around the island, but preferred our beach at the Pelican. They made us very comfortable with lounges under a bamboo umbrella.
Shopping at Philipsburg was fun, we did not like Marigot as much. My wife and I took a boat ride around the bay and saw great homes and boats. We ate at different places and enjoyed the experience. This vacation turned out better than I expected. Go to the Pelican and enjoy. |

There may be newer timeshares available, but this one would be hard to beat. Although it is one of the originals, it is always being upgraded.
We have been coming to the Pelican for three consecutive years, and will continue to do so. The friendly staff is second to none, and the location; watersports; large, white sandy beaches and sunsets are incredible.
From check in to check out, you will have a pleasant time. The bar staff is excellent, namely Marcos who is at the beach bar which is just 20 feet from the water's edge. Also, the bell captain, Sam, is always an ace in the hole for steering you in the right directions for restaurants and getting around the island.
The housekeeping staff is great. Our housekeeper, Melrose, is one of the reasons we keep going back. I assure you - you will have a memorable experience at the Pelican.
Also, don't bother renting a car at the airport. Just hail a cab to the resort. A car rental agency is on site. The prices are the same, but the hospitality is great. |

Our stay at the Pelican Resort was a wonderful experience! The rooms were clean, cool, very comfortable, and more than adequate spacewise. Our room was right next to the B-pool (Olympic-sized) and the view was spectacular. Besides the pool view, we could see Simpson Bay.
There was a grocery store onsite that was open at convenient hours and had reasonable prices. The beach was beautiful! There were actually 2 sides. One was in front of the resort, and one was actually off to the side facing Simpson Bay and all of the boats. It was a great site to watch the sunsets.
We actually managed to get to a few of the activities onsite, as well, and we had a great time! The entertainment staff was very persuasive (not in a pushy way) to get us to play games and join in the fun. The desk staff was extremely courteous and helpful.
We had a great time and will definitely be staying there if and when we return!
