My friend and I booked this trip last minute. We were so pleasantly surprised when we arrived to our room.

We worried about the ground floor room at first, but it became the best part of our trip. We were able to sunbathe in our own back yard with the sound of the waves. Also, the room was clean and beautiful.

We would definitely stay here again.

This place was just great! The location was perfect - right on Orient Beach. There were loads of restaurants and some small shops within walking distance.

We came as a big family party - eight of us. We had a three- bedroom and a two-bedroom ocean view room.

This was the best holiday we have had and have booked again for this year.

I have just reserved the Caribbean Princess for nine nights in November for this year. It will be our fourth year in St. Martin, and our third at Caribbean Princess.

We love the view and proximity to Orient Beach, one of the best beaches in the world. We stay in one of the second floor beach view units. It wouldn't be nearly as good on the first floor, there is no view on the first. We use the porch to eat, lounge and play cards at the table.

The pools are small, but we have rarely used them. We are almost always at the beach. They come with the use of lounge chairs on the beach.

Obviously, we love staying here as we continue to come back. We are two couples, and find Caribbean Princess perfect as each bedroom is primarily exactly the same, each with their own bath.

5.0 stars Caribbean Princess offers a great view, great location, comfortable accommodation Visited: December 2002

The Princess condos are about 150 feet from the water. They overlook a parking area between them and the beach. The parking area is sandy, and actually is not that instrusive. It's convenient to have your condo a one-minute walk to your beach chair.

There is a full kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We ate on the balcony, where there was a soft warm breeze during our stay. The hotel (Cap Caraibes) does not have a restaurant. The pools are each tiny - one by the condos and one by the hotel.

I did not see any fitness room or any other facility. What you get is a roomy two bedroom apartment which, if you are on the second story, overlooks Orient Bay and its beach. It is about a 15-minute drive to Marigot. If you want a beach holiday, this would be an excellent choice. If you want a resort experience, it might not be for you.

As to St Martin, a car really is a must. A caution: before booking your hotel, make sure you are not too close to the airport. Some are in the flight path, and if you want a restful holiday, that might not be the place to stay. If you go to Marigot, downtown is nice. The Marina Royale has lots of gourmet French restaurants.

5.0 stars Formidable. Visited: January 2002

The accommodations are spacious, lovely and first rate -- large tiled rooms, sliding doors that open fully to remove totally the wall of glass between the azure sea and the living room. It’s absolutely spectacular.

There were two young women at reception, one somewhat more personable than the other, but extremely helpful and all problems were resolved instantly. Technicians arrived for minor repairs within minutes.

The units are directly on the beach (kind of); there is a sand parking lot directly in front of the units, and busses with scores of tourists from the cruise ships arrive (and quickly depart) between 10am and 2pm, but neither the parking nor the busses bothered us much. The beach is lined with beach-bistros making lunch and pina coladas easy.

The listed tennis court does not exist, but a three-minute walk takes one to The American Tennis Academy, which is Oliver, and he's a terrific instructor. A 4-minute walk down the beach there is a little assembly of shops. Fresh baguettes arrive at 7am at the patisserie--about the time when walking nude along the beach seems to be a very popular activity. Although this continues off and on throughout the day; strangely mostly men are over 60.

The superb French restaurants at Grand Case (we found Le Cottage to be the best) are 10 minutes away by car (a necessity). Great location. Sensational view. A terrific vacation. Not cheap, but well worth it. It was our best vacation in 20 years.
