The Plum Beach Retreat is an older house, and has a beautiful beach. Visited: April 2007 Posted by traaschman The beach was quiet, calm and uncrowded. It was a great spot just to relax. Also, the pool was refreshing, although a little unkept. The house was older, but clean. Everything worked okay. A great location and great accommodation for the money. Visited: September 2001 Posted by tammyhodgin We loved the house and the community that it was in. The maid's dogs were great, and were extremely well behaved. We had to beg and beg them with food to get them to step one foot into the house! They would just lay outside by the open doors keeping stray dogs or humans away. The dogs somehow knew to watch out for us. They followed behind us down the beach and would bark at anyone or another dog passing by the property, but never at us. The property was very private, only about three people would pass by on the beach per day. Only 1 or 2 of the guest bedrooms had air conditioning, but after a few days, this was not a problem. The house had more than 2 bathrooms, as stated in this website on the house. It had a full bath in the master suite, 1 between the two bedrooms and one more full bath (and I believe 1 more half on the main floor). The house was open and airy. There was no cable tv, but they had a wide range of videos. There was also video rental stores if you liked. The house had marble floor mostly on the main level, the master bedroom was very large with a large, screened in porch with veranda below it. The maid kept clean sheets on the beds and tidied up after us! This pool was clean and perfect! The pool man came by every few days to clean out leaves and things. The house was in a gated community of beautiful homes. The gates were open during the day. There was a public access to the beach close to the house, but only a handful of people would visit. I believe only the locals knew about the public access. Sailboats and fishing boats would go by daily. The house was located on the French side with sandy and rocky beaches. It was just a few minutes to whatever you needed. We truly enjoyed the house and plan to return! You will see the local wildlife at this property. There wasn't much, just a huge lizard or two. There was a 10+ million dollar house next door that was finally finished. They were working on it at 7:00 am every day, which was a little disturbing when all the windows were open for the air flow. The maid was very friendly and did speak a little English. We loved her dogs! We were sure to bring them back doggy bags and treats.
