We chose this hotel from a web site as it advertised "panoramic views of Orient Bay and surrounding islands". We couldn't see anything but the vegetation. Even the housekeeping manager agreed with us and recommended that we state so on the survey form left in our room.
We will not got back until they've trimmed the trees! |

I love this place! It's so homey. The rooms are huge for the price, and it's not a typical big nameless resort. It has personality and heart.
Also, it's just a short walk from the gorgeous Orient Beach. Plus, our room came with a cat on the terrace. Prior guests left a note requesting us to feed it, which we did. We then left a note for the next guests. I can't wait to get back! |

I was very pleased with the studio room. It was very spacious and clean, with a great patio (with furniture).
Also, the staff was very helpful and friendly.
I will definitely be back. |

La Plantation is our first choice of inns on beautiful French St. Martin. It is situated on Orient Bay, a ten-minute drive to the town of Grand Case, "the place" for fine dining throughout the Caribbean.
We have made five trips to St. Martin and this is a terrific, intimate place to stay. Each large clean room is nicely appointed, has a large bathroom and small kitchenette, and a lovely porch for outside lounging.
All rooms are set along a hillside and beautifully landscaped to ensure maximum privacy. The outdoor dining area with pool and small bar area couldn't be prettier. A beautiful continental breakfast is included with your stay. It will become one of your favorite breakfast experiences! Fine dining is also available (and very good) in the evening.
The beaches are an easy five- to ten-minute walk from the luxury of your room. Beach chairs and towels are a service included with your La Plantation experience. If you want to enjoy lunch at the beach, there are about five excellent little restaurants that will charge lunch to your room. Each one is outstanding and will re-define your expectations for what lunch should be.
The staff at La Plantation is committed to making your stay a special experience. You are their number one priority!
Don't look elsewhere, stay at La Plantation! |

Hotel La Plantation was a pleasant and quiet retreat. Visited: December 2004 |

My wife and I spent a week in December 2004 after a two-weeks cruise on a sailing ship, and we were fortunate to have saved this one more week for La Plantation.
We enjoyed that place immensely. It was in a quiet location, well kept, clean and surrounded by wonderful flowers of all kinds. The rooms were spacious and tastefully furnished. We did not mind the short way to the very large beach of Orient Bay at all, where we got our beach chairs and umbrellas daily.
We thought the real negative remarks of some people from Marseille, France were unfair to the hotel and staff. |

We are travel agents and have stayed at a lot of hotels. La Plantation was truly one of our favorites!
The staff was friendly and helpful. We truly enjoyed the breakfast each morning - the bread, cheese and fruit were great. We could even boil an egg, there was a timer and cute little basket!
If you like lobster, try the fresh lobster on Monday nights-it was the best I have ever had! My husband (who does not like lobster) even loved it. Also the warm chocolate cake was to die for!
The rooms were spacious, comfortable and well decorated. The walk to the beach was enjoyable. Plus, having chairs provided and being able to order food and drinks and have them charged to our room was great -we did not have to carry any money!
If you want non-stop entertainment, this is not the place for you. However, if you want to relax, read a book (which you can pick up in the lobby), want great food and a wonderful staff, this is where you want to be!
In addition, renting a car is a great idea, and the trip around the island is only 45 minutes! |

We spent two weeks at La Plantation and this was our first visit to St. Martin.
We were very pleased with the room and the grounds. We were booked in a studio and I was a little worried about how big it would be. But it was plenty big for the two of us and the refrigerator was wonderful. I only wish that our view wasn't obstructed by so much vegetation, but we still enjoyed evenings on the large patio.
We also enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of the resort.
The continental breakfast every morning was great, too - the fresh fruit was delicious! The staff was also more than happy to provide us with ice from the kitchen for our cooler that we took with us to the beach each day.
The beach was only a five-minute walk and definitely worth it. Being able to use the chairs and umbrellas at any of the five-star resorts of Orient Beach was great! It would have cost us about $15/day otherwise. We enjoyed a different "star" every day.
Being able to charge meals/drinks to the room was also nice, but make sure to double check your bill at the end of your stay. One of the restaurants mistakenly charged our room for a meal that we had paid for in cash. The restaurant was very helpful in getting those charges taken care of for us.
The staff was friendly, but if you're looking for a staff that will bend over backwards and be overly friendly, this is not the place for you.
If you forget to bring a beach book with you, or need another one to read, the lobby has a bunch of books to choose from.
We rented a car for part of our stay and were able to do that right in the lobby. When we booked our trip, we were given a free day's rental with another company, but the company at the property matched the price for us.
The only problem we had on this trip was with the mosquitoes. They loved my husband - if they like you too, you might want to bring some Off for when you are sitting on your patio in the evening.
If you're looking for a relaxing, quiet and affordable place to stay this is the place! And Orient Beach was absolutely beautiful! |

When planning vacations, I tend to gravitate toward the larger, name-brand, four- or five-star resorts. For this trip, I chose a decidedly different route and am I ever glad that I did!
La Plantation is precisely what is represented on their website--an informal, quaint, quiet and particularly private accommodation. It is so quiet and private that we were certain that we must be the only guests on property until we actually saw others strolling along the pathways throughout the beautifully manicured complex.
Our clean studio had a good-sized bath (separate toilet--nice design!), kitchenette (not used by us--too many great restaurants on island!) and a lovely, furnished wrap-around porch. It was more than enough room for my husband and me.
Also, complimentary umbrellas, luxurious beach chairs and food/drink charging privileges at the "5 Stars of Orient Beach" were added bonuses, too. (Our only suggestion for improvement is for management to consider relaxing a bit on the strictness of their 11:00 am checkout time. That's mighty early when your flight doesn't leave until 4:00 pm.)
The short walk to beautiful Orient Beach is quite painless and, most likely, the best thing for walking off the filling complimentary breakfast offered poolside and/or a late lunch from one of the beach restaurants at the end of a lovely day. (Please, speaking from a country where more than half of my fellow residents are overweight, it can only help to get up and walk a bit more!)
Staff members were most accommodating--from the front desk personnel who warmly greeted us upon arrival and our charming waitress at dinner, to the gentleman returning one day from the beach who, upon recognizing us as hotel guests, stopped his golf cart and insisted on giving us a lift right to our room!
If you're seeking a larger-than-life resort vacation where people trip over themselves and their stuffiness to service you, don't stay here. However, if what you're looking for is pure relaxation and unencumbered, laid-back fun at an unbelievably reasonable price, then La Plantation just might be the place for you! |

I have stayed at quite a few hotels in St. Martin. This was the most "island" atmosphere. The hotel didn't feel like a hotel, it felt like a home.
If you are self motivated, there is a lot to do in Orient. Don't expect to be taken by the hand to do anything. You have to be willing to explore.
The staff was fantastic, and was always willing to help. I can't wait to go back! |

We just returned from our 14th trip to St. Martin and our sixth stay at La Plantation. This hotel is an outstanding value and should be rated four stars.
We have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Our room was recently freshly repainted with its traditional stencils, and each room is large with wrap-around balcony.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped in a natural style. The breakfast includes a large selection of fruits, cheese, meat, breads and boiled eggs - not your typical continental breakfast.
The nearby Orient beach is a dream. We will return again. |

This was our first time to St. Martin and to La Plantation. We booked a studio and were surprised at how large our clean room was. There was a nice balcony with a view of the Orient Bay. It was about a five-minute walk to the beach, where we got free beach lounge chairs and umbrellas.
The continental breakfast was delicious - fresh fruit, juices, basket of rolls, sliced ham and cheese, cereals, and coffee. There was a nice assortment for a continental breakfast. Dinner in the restaurant was superb, with good a selection on the menu.
Everything was clean around the hotel property. We felt we got an excellent value for our money. The close location to Orient Beach was definitely a plus! We will return! |

Our first time at La Plantation was excellent. The hotel was very clean and well kept. Our suite overlooked Orient Beach and it was quiet and very private.
The staff was friendly and always helpful. The breakfast was good and consistent each day. We booked two day trips from the hotel lobby and had a great time. I would recommend La Plantation without hesitation. |

If you like a quiet and relaxing place to stay, this is it. We have stayed in several resorts on the island, and this was the best for the money.
We had the small room, which was more than large enough for two people. The staff was courteous, but invisible - the way we like it. There was a great library of books in English and French. There was also a good Continental breakfast and reasonable and tasty suppers.
The charge card for the beach was great, but the best was the free chairs and umbrella at Kakoa on the beach. Stay here. Also, Jessy's Car Rental is the one to use! |

This hotel is overrated and worth not more than two stars. First the location, it?s a 5- to 10-minute walk from the beach: too far to go back to your room if you ever forgot anything. But it doesn't matter because it already took you 5-minutes to walk to your breakfast by the pool. You'll need a car, but you would have needed it to visit the island because there's absolutely nothing to do at the hotel. TV programs are limited to three English-speaking channels, CNN international.
You'll be lucky if you don't wait for breakfast at the swimming pool. Once you are seated, you?ll just get back up in line to serve yourself coffee from an awful automatic coffee machine. Boil your eggs yourself. Don't even dream of an espresso. Don't expect a taste of France when you'll eat the bread and croissants, which are worse than those of Fiesta's. Service is very poor due to only two servers that do absolutely everything at the hotel.
Don't think of your daily workout, not a single machine works. Don't go to the restrooms by the swimming pool, they stink all day long. Just walk back up to your room (although consider yourself lucky if your own toilet has been washed), or just wee in the swimming pool, as did some kids in front of us.
My advice: spend more and stay somewhere else.

We stayed at La Plantation for the first time this past January. We were certainly pleased with the entire experience.
Our villa had a wonderful view of Orient Bay. We sat on our patio every night and enjoyed a bottle of wine, before walking to their restaurant for dinner around the pool. Food was very good and the wine list was extensive and reasonably priced. I
t was truly wonderful. We rose very early several morinings just to watch the beautiful sunrise over Orient Beach from our balcony. The room was very large and very clean. The beach was about a five-minute walk, however we had a car and drove down every day. (We were very lazy!).
The staff was friendly and very informative (especially Michel). Thank you, La Plantation, for the best vacation we've ever had in St. Martin! |

We arrived in St. Martin from Anguilla (Cap Juluca) where we spent the first week of our honeymoon.
We had reservations at the Great Bay Beach Hotel. Apparently, we failed in researching hotels in St. Martina and found that place to be terrible. We immediately booked our last week at La Plantation.
It was wonderful - private, accommodating, romantic and conveniently located. I still dream of going to Grand Case each night for dinner. THe rooms were perfect, overlooking Orient Bay. I would highly recommend staying here. |

We stayed at La Plantation for our 30th anniversary, and were very pleased with our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, particularly Karin.
Although we speak a little French, we were not at a loss, because English was spoken freely. We stayed in a suite with a wonderful view of the bay. Two nights we ate at the hotel, and were surprised at how good the food was. Other nights we ate at Grand Case with excellent recommendations from Karin.
We would have liked a shorter walk to the beach (about 5 minutes), but we would not have had that spectacular view. We ate breakfast each morning by the pool, with terrific bread and croissants and fresh fruit, ham and all the boiled eggs you could eat.
It was a delightful stay and well recommended. |

The staff, price, and location make this unique facility worthy of a closer look.
Although it is short of activities in the low season (which, in retrospect, is not their fault), this is actually a convenient, safe and attractive place to stay at Orient Bay. |

This hotel was absolutely awesome. Its setting was beautiful over-looking Orient Beach. It was only a few steps from the beach and lots of other amazing services.
The restaurant was exquisite featuring French and island favorites. Also, the comfortable villas fit four to five people very easily. Another great thing about this hotel was the staff. They were very resourceful when in need and went out of their way to ensure a great stay.
If this wasn't the best hotel on this island, I'd like someone to show it to me. |
