This place is amazing! Visited: March 2002 |

This hotel was absolutely awesome. Its setting was beautiful over-looking Orient Beach. It was only a few steps from the beach and lots of other amazing services.
The restaurant was exquisite featuring French and island favorites. Also, the comfortable villas fit four to five people very easily. Another great thing about this hotel was the staff. They were very resourceful when in need and went out of their way to ensure a great stay.
If this wasn't the best hotel on this island, I'd like someone to show it to me. |

This is the secret of St. Martin. Visited: February 2002 |

When we first arrived in St. Martin, a bus picked us up at the airport. The driver of the bus smiled politely when people told him where they were staying. When my boyfriend and I said "Hotel La Plantation" he smiled broadly and said, "The best kept secret of St. Martin." Believe me, this hotel was a pure delight.
The rooms were extremely large and done in real Caribbean-style decor. There was a kitchen [we barely used], a very spacious living room, a full bedroom and three wonderful terraces that led to one large veranda.
We were nervous about not being right on the beach. However, it was barely a five minute walk - we could see the ocean from our room. Forget the small pool and the much to be desired gym - we very happily sure did. We enjoyed the ocean and did some watersports!
Easily, my favorite part of this hotel was that our room came with a cat! Yes, a cat greeted us each morning on the varanda and we happily took over feeding it from our neighbors who were leaving that day.
The restaurant was pretty good with a very nice ambiance. But I preferred going to Grand Case where the food was less expensive and right on the ocean.
The casinos were a rip off. Stay away from them. We went to the Maho Casino and never saw one single person win. St. Martin was awesome, though. I can't wait to go back!
And don't miss the amazing prices on diamonds in Phillipsburg. |

This is a place of relaxation and beauty without any worries. Visited: February 2002 |

We hated to leave such a beautiful and relaxing place, but due to an unexpected illness of our two beautiful daughters (two and four years old), we had to go back to America.
After traveling to many destinations over the past 12 years, my wife and I have decided that La Plantation Hotel had the best hotel accomodations we have ever had the pleasure to visit.
La Plantation Hotel looked just like the web site pictured it. It was not a grand hotel with stuffy staff managing it. The food was fantastic and the accomodations were exactly what we wanted for two lovers looking for a private paradise.
We wanted beauty, elegance, French surroundings, excellent food and excellent service, yet we wanted to have privacy in an open atmosphere. La Plantation provided everything we wanted and more.
We would return to La Plantation tomorrow, if possible. We were able to enjoy the island of Saint Maarten (both French and Dutch) during the evening and spend the days on Orient beach. Orient beach allowed all inhibitions to be lifted (especially down on the Club Orient end) and we were able to enjoy the freedom of the French culture while attaining our goal of relaxation. The additional bonus of having charging privileges on the beach at different areas added to the pleasure of our stay.
The suite we resided in was exactly as pictured. Everything was just like we expected it. Also, having an in-room electronic safe with a combination that could be changed daily provided a comfort of protection from theft.
La Plantation was built among several other Orient Bay hotel/condo sites and had the protection of a private gated community with security personnel for protection from intruders and unwanted elements.
The staff was beyond what we imagined as far as the level of five-star hospitality and efficiency - especially when the cost was so very reasonable.
They provided information, directions, excellent service and gave us a feeling of well-being while in Saint Maarten. We would never consider staying anywhere but on the French side of the island and nowhere else but La Plantation upon our return to Saint Maarten.
Privacy was our main attraction to La Plantation. Being from America, privacy is hard to come by. I would estimate that 65% of the people that stay at La Plantation are French and the rest are Americans.
We must give La Plantation a five star rating. But that is only because there is no higher rating to choose from.

A great location at a fair price. Visited: August 2001 |

My wife and I visited La Plantation last August. We love St. Martin and we were in the island before.
The hotel has an excellent location overlooking the famous Orient Bay. The rooms (we had a studio unit ) are very well organized and are spacious, but the pool is a little small.
The gym is poorly located in the basement beyond the restrooms.
Overall, this is among the best of the choices on the island. |

Fantastic - if you enjoy country French environment. Visited: April 2001 |

The accomodations are private and quaint. The daily European breakfast is charming, and with mostly French vacationers, the sense of international travel is heightened.
The ease of dining at associated beach restaurants (with excellent food and wine selections - for the most part) by simply signing, makes your day at one of the most beautiful beaches on the island even more enjoyable. Proximity to the world class dining at Grand Case is a plus, while the romantic setting at the Hotel's evening pool-side dining facilty is always a viable option.
While the well-maintained facility offers a welcome sense of seclusion, the friendly and accomodating staff are always available and happy to assist in fulfilling your needs with enthusiastic personal attention. |

A beautiful property and pleasant staff. Visited: April 2001 |

My wife and I spent a week at La Plantation with our three daughters, ages 10, 7 and 6. It is a great spot for families or couples, and we will definitely be returning.
The villas are nicely tended, and surrounded by beautiful landscaping (much more so than some of the higher-priced neighbors). Our villa consisted of a one-bedroom suite and two adjoining studios.
The suites are large, extremely well decorated and comfortable, and come complete with a well-equipped kitchen. The air conditioning works very well, although breezes through the veranda doors are generally adequate by themselves. As we had children with us and needed some privacy, we put them in an adjoining studio (the other remained empty throughout the week), which is a somewhat smaller, although very nicely equipped with a kitchenette, and very attractively priced. It has two twin beds and a foldout bed, which is very comfortable.
The veranda is fabulous. Flowers and greenery filled the yard, and because of the elevation, our view extended from Pinel to Le Galion. There was nothing like sitting quietly, reading and listening to the waves at night.
The proximity to shops and restaurants in Grand Case is perfect, and the restaurant at La Plantation is very good, as well. We appreciated the provision of chairs and umbrellas down on the Orient, together with other signing privileges, and found the staff to be pleasant, prompt and attentive.
It is truly a magical place.

An elegant French resort. Visited: March 2001 |

We just got back from a weekend stay at La Plantation and loved it. The place was almost
completely booked, and I can understand why. As a consequence, however, we had to
change rooms while we were there; this was fine as we got a chance to check out both the
suite and studio! The suite would be perfect for a family of four. The studio's were also
large. For just the two of us, it was more than spacious enough.
This place was very elegant and had beautiful views of the beach. Although there was some construction at the next door that was slightly obscuring the view. We loved the mosquito nets
around the bed, but in fact, we didn't have any problem with bugs in or out of bed. On one
of the days that we were there they had run out of beach towels, which was a little
frustrating, but this was likely an isolated event. One of the nights we were there we ate at
the hotel restaurant and the food was very good and the wine prices were quite
reasonable. Be sure to ask for some free fruit-rum as a "digestive" after the meal. If you
are looking for a hotel within walking distance to Orient Bay, we'd definitely recommend
this resort. |

Outstanding property Visited: July 2000 |

I returned from La Plantation on July 23, 2000 after an 8-day stay. This is one of the finest properties in the Caribbean.
The villas were beautiful and very comfortable. The restaurant and staff were excellent. I particularly appreciated signing privleges and the access to five of the premier beachfront restaurants and bars on Orient Beach.
If you are considering St. Martin, this is THE property on Orient Beach. |

Wonderful place Visited: January 2000 |

I just returned from St. Martin, after staying one week at La Plantation. The rooms are incredible. They are very tastefully decorated and the view is breathtaking. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff is friendly. The breakfast is a lot better than just continental, with the best baguettes and croissants.
I really enjoyed the location of the hotel being close to Grand Case and Cul de Sac with the best French restaurants outside of France. The beach is very nice as well.
The only thing I wish the hotel would offer is to have their own place for watersports on the beach, since the rent of equipment is not really cheap. Other than that, I will definitly come back. |

Why go anywhere else? Visited: December 1969 |

We have been staying at La Plantation for the past 6 years and will shortly book our 7th stay in as many years. The rooms are spacious, clean and colorful. The staff is very accommodating and in fact will go out of the way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The location of the hotel is also great - close to Orient Beach and close to the town of Grand Case. Having the wrap around porch is such a plus - we enjoy coffee on the porch in the morning, drinks when we get off the beach and even a nite cap before we head to bed. The manager (Julie) is one of the most pleasant people you will ever meet. We can't wait to go back!!! |

Paradise in paradise....best of the Caribbean! Visited: December 1969 |

We are returning to La Plantation for the third time very soon. We have traveled all over the Caribbean and have stayed in many different luxury resorts. We have found La Plantation to be our favorite destination due to the beauty of the island and the resort in particular. The rooms are terrific, with wonderful amenities and views. Perhaps the best feature is the fantastic staff..friendly, cooperative accommodating and very professional. They make you feel like someone special and go out of their way to ensure your comfort and enjoyment.
The on-site restaurant is probably the best on the island, with a very good variety of food and wine and again, a super staff. The beach restaurants are also very good and Orient Beach is one of the best beaches we've ever visited.
If you're looking for a small, quiet luxury resort with a lot of privacy and access to a wide variety of activities, you can't beat La Plantation. |
