The Rooms are big, tile, stone and very nice mostly the are peoples condo's. We allways make the reservation thru Wyndam National BUT You must call the hotel direct and confirm what unit you are staying in. My wife and i have been to the saphire eight times every stay has been great. we noticed the last tie the restaurant was being operated like a sub contractor from France or something so go out and get your own food. You will be using the best beach in St Maarteen Mullet beautiful sand and beautiful ocean. The complex has a two level parking we have never stayed in the Villas cause we allways stayed on the sixth or seventh floor end units two or three bed rooms with wrap around balconys and tubs. Coupocoy is kind of neat good every thing is really kind of low keyed. Do your self a favor call ahead to make sure the suite you want is available

We paid $300 per week to stay here, but for anyone who is paying more, listen up.

The rooms were fine, but outdated. They were very large with kitchenettes and balconies. The housekeeping staff was great, too. However, management was so terrible, that I will not stay here again.

Our bathtub/shower was clogged with so much hair that after two minutes I was standing in water up to my ankles. It took four calls down to the front desk, and then I finally waved down a housekeeper to clean it out. She had no idea there was a problem.

We were asked to switch rooms with a note under the door that I found at 10:30 am. It read that we had to be out by 11 am that same day. When we went down to get new keys, they didn't know which room we were supposed to go to - or if the room was even available.

In our new room the front door didn't lock. We told them about it at night, and the front desk person said he would look at it that night. He didn't. I called down the next day, nothing. I called down again and finally someone came up to fix it. However, then they made me come downstairs to get our keys fixed. When I went back up to the room, they didn't work. I went back down - nothing again. This time we called and someone finally came up with new keys.

In addition, the hotel is not really within walking distance of anything. There is no beach, although there is good snorkeling right in front of the hotel. The food options are very limited and pricy.

Do not stay here unless you get a seriously great rate.

We have stayed here seven times, and have always enjoyed it.

Make sure you call the hotel direct to confirm which unit is available. They have about different units. We usually get the south tower, fifth-floor end, two-bedroom unit.

You will have what we consider the nicest beach available. On the property is Cupecoy Beach (clothing optional). Go to the tunnel during low tide and go to the right. You'll see every color of the rainbow.

I just returned from the Sapphire. We have been to the island many times, and own at the Pelican. This was our first and last time at the SBC.

The staff was rude, surly and uncaring. It took two and a half days to get our safe fixed, so we were forced to carry around our valuables. There was no main safe available.

It also took two days to get the bedroom fan fixed, and two days to get a coffee pot that worked. There were also ants on the kitchen counter, and we received a flat out "no" when I asked if they would mail some postcards. I was told to go to the airport or Simpson's Bay to mail them!

The only bright spot was our maid Lena- who was sweet and helpful.

Our friends in another room had similar problems, as did most people we spoke with at the pool. Chairs were not available at the pool unless they were broken and not usable.

It was not at all what we expected. Saint Maarten was wonderful as always- but we won't stay at the Sapphire again. There are too many other nice places to stay.

3.0 stars We had a mostly positive stay. Visited: May 2009

Our front desk experience was always pleasant with Jorge and Mikael. We had a beautiful unit that did have an ocean view, which was lovely. When we noticed a bedroom lamp was not working (and sparked), maintenance came within 20 minutes and fixed it. We also did not have an iron, and one was left in the room the next day. In the morning, our coffee maker did not work; and one was delivered to our door within ten minutes.

A written notice stated sheets were only changed on Saturdays and Wednesdays, with towels only changed on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays. The sheet changing was accurate, but we were given fresh towels every day for a week.

The only really negative things: the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Also, there were a few roaches that found their way into the kitchen. I'm sure if we had complained, the unit would have been sprayed. We find the smell of the spray more offensive than having to squash four bugs, repulsive as they are.

The final negative was that when the air conditioning was on, the unit had a slight musty smell. The unit was beautiful, especially the master bath. It was all marble with a huge deep tub. Best of all, our large balcony had a hot tub on it. I would have enjoyed it more if we could make the water hotter, but the jets did work, and it was relaxing.

The cleaning staff did a great job daily, too.

The beach was small, but St. Martin has so many beautiful beaches. We did not use any pools or restaurants at Sapphire, so we can't review those.

2.0 stars It was okay, but there were lots of glitches. Visited: February 2007

The room I booked was supposed to be ocean view. If they cut the palms - maybe.

Also, water leaked from the air conditioning into the closet and ruined two of my shirts. They said they would get them dry cleaned for me...and they disappeared. Oh well.

The TV didn't work most of the time. The staff was pleasant, but not helpful when things went wrong. The bed was like plywood, and I stayed there five days with the same sheets.

The pool area was crowded, but that is the case with most hotels here at this time. The internet worked most of the time.

I wouldn't stay here again.

3.0 stars Sapphire Beach is a nice property, but has lukewarm service. Visited: July 2003
Posted by thanh_long
We stayed here for six nights in July, 2003 for our honeymoon. We were given a nice studio room on the first floor, facing the ocean. However, the ocean view was blocked by palm trees.

The rooms all have marble floors, a marble bathroom with elegant brass fixtures, and either a kitchen (full-size rooms) or kitchenette (studio rooms). Our studio room also had a jacuzzi on the balcony. We had booked and paid for a full-size room through Wyndham’s Webfares at a good price. So, although we were given a smaller room, it was nice enough for the price paid that we felt we got our money’s worth.

This hotel was quite nice, but the service at the front desk could be improved. Also, the hostess at the Sapphire Café by the pool was unfriendly and indifferent. The cashiers in the hotel food store were much friendlier, especially as I spoke French to them.

Nellie, the French timeshare manager for Sapphire Beach, was also quite friendly, as was her assistant. Rhonda, the activities coordinator for the hotel, was super. We booked our ferry trip to Anguilla from her and had a great time at Shoal Bay on Anguilla.

Overall, Sapphire Beach Club was a nice place to stay while on St. Maarten, as long as you don’t expect good service from the front desk.

3.0 stars Nice room, but inferior front desk service. Visited: July 2003
Posted by jty2k1999
We booked a full-sized room at the Sapphire Beach Club (SBC) for our honeymoon. Upon arrival, however, we were given a smaller, studio room, which did not have a living room and full kitchen that a full-sized room has. I pointed this out to the front desk employees, who showed me a full-sized room on the ground floor and said it was the only such room available. The studio room was cleaner and one floor higher, so we decided to stay there. However, I was not convinced that the hotel did not have other full-sized rooms available, considering the low season and the large size of the hotel. They said they would give us a full-sized room should one become available, but this never happened during our stay. I definitely felt cheated by the SBC.

Designed for two persons, the studio room is very nice, with marble floor throughout, marble bathroom with brass fixtures, oversize tub, ocean-facing balcony with private Jacuzzi, and a kitchenette. Although its number is 315, this studio room is actually on the first floor, and not third. As such, it’s too low to see the ocean from its balcony, and also there were palm trees blocking the ocean view.

The service at the front desk was inferior to other hotels I’ve been to. Everyone at the front desk, except Steven (who was new and accommodating), was slow, apathetic, and had an attitude. After dealing with them a couple of times, we stopped going to the front desk altogether. The French woman at the Sapphire Cafe by the pool was also quite rude; she actually walked away and did not serve u, saying that she was "too busy." In disgust, we decided to only use the room and the store on floor one; not any other facilities at this hotel. We spent our time in Marigot, Philipsburg, and the beaches during the day, Grand Case at night, and avoided the SBC employees altogether - except the maids, who were nice. The French-speaking cashiers at the store on floor one were much friendlier than the front desk.

I’m surprised by the poor service we experienced at the SBC in light of the good reviews on the service. Perhaps the level of service has deteriorated from previous years. If you're looking for exceptional service, you might not find it at SBC. But if you want a nice room and don't care much about service, then the SBC might be acceptable.

5.0 stars We had a fantastic stay at the Sapphire. Visited: July 2002

We stayed in the petite studio room and it was so comfortable that we declined a complimentary upgrade offered two days after our arrival.

We were on the ground floor, so we had no ocean view, but the garden view was lovely and the ground floor was so convenient. We especially enjoyed our walks with entertaining Sally.

We'd come back to St. Maarten and Sapphire Beach Club in a heartbeat. The only downer was we felt our sales representative dissed us once he knew we weren't buying.

4.0 stars One of the nicest hotels on the island! Visited: April 2002
Posted by jestrach
Our family has two homes on the island. Once in a while when the houses are rented out, we stay at a hotel for a night or two. On these visits to St. Maarten, about one or two times a year, we have stayed at several hotels. In my opinion, Sapphire Beach was the nicest one we have ever stayed at.

Upon request, I was upgraded to an oceanview room. Since it was on the first floor of the hotel, my view was obstructed by garden plants. If you do an oceanview, you would want to be on the upper floors.

Our room had a full kitchen. The room was spotless, and the air conditioning worked better then at home! In addition, there was a jacuzzi on the outside patio/balcony of my room!

The pool area was very clean and beautiful. You couldn't see the beach from the pool. The food at the bar located at the poolside was tasty. It was not expensive and the service was good. They also had a schedule of activities for people who get tired of being out on the French and/or the Dutch side (that was not me!).

The people at the hotel were friendly, courteous and quick to respond to any questions and issues.

Check out time was a bit early (10:00 a.m.), but they accommodated my request to stay until 11:00 a.m.

My husband and I honeymooned in St. Maarten at this resort and it was lovely. We loved everything about it! Everything was set at the perfect pace and the luxurious amenities were a big plus.

The hospitality representatives were very good as well. Everyone always had a smile on their face and was always very attentive. I felt comfortable moving about the resort and the staff at the Sapphire Cafe went out of their way to ensure that all of the guests enjoyed their meals while dining there. We ate most of our meals at the cafe located poolside, too.

The only drawback to the resort was that the beach was not located directly on the resort property. But the neighboring Mullet Bay and Cupecoy Beaches were beautiful.

We highly recommend Sapphire Beach Club. You are guaranteed an excellent time. We would stay at this resort again.

My husband and I honeymooned at Sapphire Beach Club and it was fabulous!

Our one-bedroom suite had everything we needed in it. The bathroom was spectacular as well. The marble floors, walls and brass fixtures gave everything a luxurious effect. I really did not know what to expect when we first arrived. We were greeted in the lobby by Martha, the best hospitality representative! The front desk representatives were very courteous, friendly and helpful. The islanders were also very nice.

We stayed at Sapphire for one week. It had a very laid back atmosphere and the resort amenities met all of our needs. I highly recommend this property to anyone. There were guests who have repeatedly visited this resort for years and they all appear very satisfied as well.

The Sapphire Cafe near the pool served some very good food, too. The happy hour was great! The staff at the cafe was very outgoing. They basically left us wanting for nothing. The only drawback for me personally was that there was no beach located directly on the resort property. However, Cupecoy and Mullet Bay beaches were just a few-minute walk away.

Overall, our honeymoon stay at the Sapphire Beach Club was wonderful. Our thanks goes out to the staff and everyone for providing us a relaxing and tranquil stay.

5.0 stars My Place in Paradise Visited: May 2000

Beautiful resort! The oceanfront units have hot tubs on the balconies. The units are spacious with marble baths and well-equipped kitchens. Since purchasing in 1994, I have never regretted the decision.

The on-site Superette has reasonably priced snacks and staples. I enjoy an early breakfast at the poolside restaurant, The Sapphire Café, where lunch and dinner are also available. I especially enjoy the view from my balcony, watching cruise ships go by, seeing the stars at night from the hot tub, or catching a sunset.

Sapphire is located close to the nightlife as well as the beaches. Nearby casinos include The Dolphin, Casino Royale and Atlantis. Cupecoy Beach directly in front of Sapphire comes and goes with the tides, but a short drive away, at the western end of Cupecoy, you will find a secluded beach, beautiful cliffs and caves.

My only regret is when I have to leave Sapphire and return from my vacation in paradise.

I am not your normal timeshare holder. My standards are extremely high, but the Sapphire Beach Club was a great investment. I have two weeks a year. Unless I was to stay at La Sammana ($700+ a night), there is nowhere else in St. Maarten that I would rather stay.

4.0 stars A Pleasant Surprise! Visited: December 1969

We stayed in a Sudio oceanfront room and were extremely pleased. The staff was warm and friendly.

There were only two negative points to ponder. First, the pillows were very large and hard to sleep on. They informed us they had many complaints and were going to change them. Secondly, trying to get beach towels daily sometimes was a chore. We had to get them in the lobby and some days they were not ready and we had to wait for them.

Everything else was excellent! The grounds and rooms were very clean. Don't miss the Manager's Party, it's terrific. You will not be disappointed staying here.

If you want first class accommodations on St. Maarten's most dramatic beach, Cupecoy, convenient to both the Dutch and French side and run by the most understanding and accommodating management team, SBC is the choice. We've called it our home away from home for a week each year and have never regretted our decision to sign on early. Their facilities leave nothing to be desired. Even the small commissary store is outstanding with fair pricing.

Rooms are large, equipment is new. Views from your private balcony and private hot tub are idyllic. And with no use time constraints. We love it!
