This is a wonderful French hotel. Visited: November 2003

What a wonderful 35-suite resort. It was literally a one-minute walk down a path to Wakiki on Orient. We were on the first floor, room 103.

I've never slept so well on vacation, it was a very comfortable room. The king side bed was very comfy and the rattan furniture was attractive. Our bathroom had a two-person shower with a nice vanity. The kitchenette was well stocked along with complimentary tea, coffee, dried cereal and bags of chips upon arrival. And the tea and coffee was replenished during our stay.

Our sliding glass door led onto a small, but pretty terrace along with a lounge chair and two chairs with a table. We literally walked ten feet to the pool. It was a nice, clean kidney shaped pool with ample sitting along with a covered area of table and chairs if you wanted to eat breakfast by the pool.

Our room had a wall safe, TV, hair dryer, and complimentary converter (we brought along our own hair dryer). The TV had three French channels and CNN.

A nice well situated hotel well suited for families. Visited: May 2003

We just returned and we were very happy with Cap Caraibes.

The two office staff members were pleasant and very helpful. The rooms were spacious and included a kitchenette with lots of dishes, glasses, silverware and utensils. It was equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, and stove top burners. This allowed us to have breakfast and either lunch or dinner in each day.

They also provided a nice patio table for eating. With a two-year-old and a five-year-old, the kitchen was essential. There was no restaurant onsite, but guests could charge meals back to the hotel account at several beach bars and I think at some of the restaurants in the small shopping area nearby.

The room was well kept. We had a door fall off one of the cabinets early in our stay and informed the front desk staff who passed the word on to maintenance, but it was never fixed. It was no big deal, though.

The hotel had a small pool and supplied guests with big beach towels upon request and as often as you needed them. The hotel had an arrangement with Wakkiki Beach Club to supply guests with free chairs and umbrellas. The hotel was just a short walk down a wood sidewalk to the beach, and the section of Orient it faced had a quite wide section of beach.

I would definitely recommend Cap Caraibes.

Many good things to say about Cap Caraibes! Visited: March 2003

My wife and I just returned from four days at Cap Caraibes in St. Martin and had an extremely nice time. We used the reviews here to help select Cap Caraibes and found them very useful. Some hints for visitors:

- The beach (Orient) was amazing, and it was very convenient to get to (steps from your room).

- All rooms seemed to have a good view; The second floor and up got an ocean view.

- Most of the bars and restaurants in Orient Bay opened late (10:00 am) and closed early (5:00 pm), so plan to eat out in Grand Case, Marigot, etc. Rooms had a fridge, so guests could easily bring breakfast foods.

- Walk the streets near the hotel (you'll stumble onto a great little market, but without exploring, it's not easy to find).

- Expect good, helpful service of European standards (i.e. not quite like in the US. This goes for the whole island as well).

- Expect to use taxis a lot, or rent a car.

- Pro or con (you decide): Topless was very common on Orient Beach, and you'll see some bottomless as well. We found it very relaxing and pleasant, but others might be uncomfortable.

The notes here were what we sort of learned after a few days on the island, and would have liked to know in advance. However, don't take that as a negative -- we loved St. Martin, and would eagerly stay at Cap Caraibes again.

It wasn't as easy as an all-inclusive trip to St. Thomas or Jamaica, but if you're prepared for that, it's an amazing vacation and our vote for best beach in the Caribbean. The food was incredible. The rooms were even cuter than they looked in the pictures. We'll go back for sure.

It was excellent - again! Visited: August 2002

This was our second year in a row here, and it was better than last year.

The third floor view is fabulous. This is a quiet resort, but just a few steps away are beach bars and, of course, Orient Beach. They have great beach chairs and a very friendly staff. Your room is guaranteed to be sparkling clean every day you get back from the beach.

I can't wait to get back for another romanatic getaway!

What a wonderful trip! Visited: April 2002

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cap Caraibes. Everthing was clean, and the kitchen was very well equipped. We loved being able to sit in the late afternoons on the patio with tropic surroundings.

However, I found the office staff was not that helpful or friendly, and they did not cash traveler's cheks for their guests. But I would not let this keep me from staying here again because this hotel had the best locations on the beach. There were beach bars and shopping are nearby. And the beach was only a short walk through a tropical garden.

I highly recommend it!

We just returned from our third trip to beautiful Orient Bay. We had previously stayed at other resorts and Cap Caraibes proved to be the best choice yet.

The rooms were comfortably furnished, including a well-stocked kitchen. The staff was friendly and helpful.

We will be heading back to Cap Caraibes next year.

St. Martin is Awesome. Visited: December 2001

St. Martin has the best food and shopping in the Caribbean. Orient Beach, which is where Cap Caraibes is located, is the best beach in St. Martin. But be aware of one caveat; Cap Caraibes is not a luxury hotel. Instead what you get is a studio apartment on a nice beach. As long as you keep that in mind, you should do fine. Be sure to order the breakfast room service because it's better than any breakfast on the beach!

The best of the best! Visited: September 2001

The hotel, beach bar and beach are fantastic. Orient Beach is a gated area with beautiful homes, villas and resorts. It's the safest and prettiest place to stay on the island.

Third-floor views get you over the tops of the palm trees with a gorgeous view of the bay. Accommodations are suites with a small kitchen, large bed, sofa, chair and table. All furniture is new as is the room. The room is cleaned everyday.

The beach is cleaned up every day and the padded chairs with umbrellas are very comfortable. The hotel is approximately in the middle of Orient Beach. There are restaurants and bars to walk to from the beach. In the morning folks are walking completely nude—late mornings and afternoons there is lots of topless bathing. About a mile to the right are the totally nude beaches.

The staff is very friendly and attentive. I would strongly recommend this hotel and location. It’s truly the best of the best!

Great view, clean, comfortable, and secure Visited: May 2001

Just got back from a week at Cap Caraibes. We selected this place from the Internet and were happy to find that the accommodations were exactly as advertised.

We stayed on the top (3rd) floor and the view of Orient Beach was excellent. 2nd floor rooms have a good view, too. 1st floor rooms have a garden view. The rooms are large and are all tiled. The air conditioning works great and the pool is very clean.

There is daily maid service, but no room service. Each room has a kitchenette with a microwave and there are stores nearby to stock up on snacks, coffee and stuff. You are able to charge meals and drinks to your room at several of the places up and down Orient Beach.

Cap Caraibes is not a nudist resort and there was a note in our room to remind us of that. Topless sunbathing is common on St. Martin (on the French side) and there is some total nudity on the beach so if that bothers you then you might want to stay on the Dutch side of the Island.

If you are looking for a quiet, romantic getaway, I would highly recommend this resort.

Very Good! Visited: November 1999

I agree with previous posts, this is a wise choice. Be aware that the free lounge chairs and umbrellas are in front of La Playa beach restaurant, which is in front of L'Hoste Hotel. Both hotels are within easy driving distance of excellent restaurants in Cul de Sac and Grand Case; Marigot is just a little bit farther drive.
