| The Rooms are big, tile, stone and very nice mostly the are peoples condo's. We allways make the reservation thru Wyndam National BUT You must call the hotel direct and confirm what unit you are staying in. My wife and i have been to the saphire eight times every stay has been great. we noticed the last tie the restaurant was being operated like a sub contractor from France or something so go out and get your own food. You will be using the best beach in St Maarteen Mullet beautiful sand and beautiful ocean. The complex has a two level parking we have never stayed in the Villas cause we allways stayed on the sixth or seventh floor end units two or three bed rooms with wrap around balconys and tubs. Coupocoy is kind of neat good every thing is really kind of low keyed. Do your self a favor call ahead to make sure the suite you want is available | |

| We have stayed here seven times, and have always enjoyed it. Make sure you call the hotel direct to confirm which unit is available. They have about different units. We usually get the south tower, fifth-floor end, two-bedroom unit. You will have what we consider the nicest beach available. On the property is Cupecoy Beach (clothing optional). Go to the tunnel during low tide and go to the right. You'll see every color of the rainbow. |

| I have been traveling to St. Maarten for 26 years and found this to be the nicest place at which I have stayed. The planes coming and going weren't a bother to us at all. We stayed for two weeks in April 2009, and after just a few short days didn't even hear the planes anymore. One reviewer stated that the planes come and go until 11 pm. We didn't find that to be true at at all. The water was a little rough the weeks we were here, but we just went to the pool for a while and cooled off. I enjoyed this place so much I am already booked for 2010 and 2011. Thanks, Yolanda, for having such a great place in my favorite home away from home. |

| We paid $300 per week to stay here, but for anyone who is paying more, listen up. The rooms were fine, but outdated. They were very large with kitchenettes and balconies. The housekeeping staff was great, too. However, management was so terrible, that I will not stay here again. Our bathtub/shower was clogged with so much hair that after two minutes I was standing in water up to my ankles. It took four calls down to the front desk, and then I finally waved down a housekeeper to clean it out. She had no idea there was a problem. We were asked to switch rooms with a note under the door that I found at 10:30 am. It read that we had to be out by 11 am that same day. When we went down to get new keys, they didn't know which room we were supposed to go to - or if the room was even available. In our new room the front door didn't lock. We told them about it at night, and the front desk person said he would look at it that night. He didn't. I called down the next day, nothing. I called down again and finally someone came up to fix it. However, then they made me come downstairs to get our keys fixed. When I went back up to the room, they didn't work. I went back down - nothing again. This time we called and someone finally came up with new keys. In addition, the hotel is not really within walking distance of anything. There is no beach, although there is good snorkeling right in front of the hotel. The food options are very limited and pricy. Do not stay here unless you get a seriously great rate. |

| I just returned from the Sapphire. We have been to the island many times, and own at the Pelican. This was our first and last time at the SBC. The staff was rude, surly and uncaring. It took two and a half days to get our safe fixed, so we were forced to carry around our valuables. There was no main safe available. It also took two days to get the bedroom fan fixed, and two days to get a coffee pot that worked. There were also ants on the kitchen counter, and we received a flat out "no" when I asked if they would mail some postcards. I was told to go to the airport or Simpson's Bay to mail them! The only bright spot was our maid Lena- who was sweet and helpful. Our friends in another room had similar problems, as did most people we spoke with at the pool. Chairs were not available at the pool unless they were broken and not usable. It was not at all what we expected. Saint Maarten was wonderful as always- but we won't stay at the Sapphire again. There are too many other nice places to stay. |

| Everything at Flamingo was great - from the staff to the rooms. We were switched because our AC unit broke, but they were very accommodating during the move. The general manager, William; front desk staff member, Dennis; and all the personnel on site provided us a marvelous experience. My girlfriend and I are real snobs, and the Ritz Carlton has not gotten three stars in my other reviews. The Flamingo had a great location, and cozy feel for a week of total relaxation. I love it and plan to make this an annual visit. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. |

| Our front desk experience was always pleasant with Jorge and Mikael. We had a beautiful unit that did have an ocean view, which was lovely. When we noticed a bedroom lamp was not working (and sparked), maintenance came within 20 minutes and fixed it. We also did not have an iron, and one was left in the room the next day. In the morning, our coffee maker did not work; and one was delivered to our door within ten minutes. A written notice stated sheets were only changed on Saturdays and Wednesdays, with towels only changed on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays. The sheet changing was accurate, but we were given fresh towels every day for a week. The only really negative things: the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Also, there were a few roaches that found their way into the kitchen. I'm sure if we had complained, the unit would have been sprayed. We find the smell of the spray more offensive than having to squash four bugs, repulsive as they are. The final negative was that when the air conditioning was on, the unit had a slight musty smell. The unit was beautiful, especially the master bath. It was all marble with a huge deep tub. Best of all, our large balcony had a hot tub on it. I would have enjoyed it more if we could make the water hotter, but the jets did work, and it was relaxing. The cleaning staff did a great job daily, too. The beach was small, but St. Martin has so many beautiful beaches. We did not use any pools or restaurants at Sapphire, so we can't review those. |

| I came back to the hotel one night at around 2 am and went down to the lobby to do some work on my computer. I accidentally fell asleep with my arms wrapped around my computer. When I woke up a couple of hours later, the computer was gone. I went to the front desk very distraught and told them what happened. They told me they have security cameras all around the lobby and would check them the next morning. I went back in the morning and talked to the manager. He was not apologetic and seemed very shady. He told me that the cameras were being "rewired that night", so they had no footage of the event. When I finally found the chief of security at the hotel a few hours later, he did not seem to care either. He told me that guests are not allowed to sleep in the lobby. He also seemed surprised and confused when I mentioned the cameras being off. In fact, his first reaction was "no" then "hmm not sure what you're talking about," then he changed the topic. If people aren't allowed to sleep in the lobby (which makes sense, it was not my plan to fall asleep there), why wouldn't the night workers wake me up and tell me that? Also, if the cameras really weren't working, why would the chief of security not know that? I was told I could drive to "town" if I wanted to file a police report, given terrible directions to Philipsburg. As it turned out, it was a far away town an hour away from Sonesta. The detective agreed that the cameras were probably on and that they were covering for someone, but I doubt anything will really get done about it. I am positive my computer with all the work I had just done on it for grad school is gone forever. I was offered no discount on my room or any other sort of compensation. Please do not give these people your money. The only people on the whole island who were disrespectful or aggressive towards me and my friend were the guys behind that desk - even before the computer incident. |

| If you want to go all-inclusive to an island with a decent standard of living for the locals and wonderful and reasonable restaurants in abundance, St. Maarten and the Sonesta Great Bay are not for you. However, if you are willing to venture, say to a wonderful French bakery down the street for an excellent breakfast, and walk down the boardwalk for all kinds of island lunch and dinners, the Sonesta Great Bay is a very decent place. They have excellent pools and beach. It may just have the best location on all of St. Maarten. |

It was paradise for our family. Visited: January 2009 |

| We came to Divi in January with our college aged sons. It was peaceful and beautiful, with a nice beach and nice staff. It was also just a short cab ride from town to shop and eat on the unique boardwalk near the cruise ships. Our room had a great view on the second floor, but would pick one a little away from construction on first floor due to some fall hurricane flooding. The resort had a workout room my son liked, a grocery we got beverages at, and a good buffet breakfast. We liked going by cab to town to sample the great Caribbean lobster and other fun restaurants. Also, the sunset cruises were fun, and the hotel had snorkling you could do. You must swim or take a jetski ride to get to it. We wished they had a dock or small boat to get there for us "older folks". The Divi also had a lovely beach and hammocks to relax in. The lunches and dinners were okay, but we were glad we got just the breakfast package. It was next door to the casino, and close to the yoda guy in town. He was the creator of Yoda in the Star Wars movies. He has a studio in town and is facinating to talk to. It was an added bonus to the trip. Eugene at activities was great, and helped us with a great tour of the island that lasted three hours. We even went to a French pastry shop for breakfast. It was a fun and interesting way to get a picture of the island. This was not a room service-type of hotel. It is not elite, but very lovely. We would all return again, and look forward to seeing it when the construction is done, too. |

It was below our expectations for a Diamond resort. Visited: December 2008 |
|
| Posted by surfer9 | |
| I visited here with my family for a December break. I had requested a quiet, top floor room. I ended up with a three-bedroom penthouse above me that had six young guys in it who stayed up until 5:00 am every morning. Our half of the resort had no hot water for six days of my seven-day vacation! Showers were ice cold. Therefore, dishes were not washed either. They charged a $50 resort fee upon check-out when we were inconvenienced. The gym (which was closed weekends) was not clean, and the equipment was broken. Also, locals used the gym for weight lifting (I'm sure to make more money), which made it an undesirable place in which to work out. I am very disappointed in Diamond Resorts and their lack of response to my complaints. They have sent an e-mail acknowledging my issues, but won't discuss them with me. That's unacceptable. We won't be staying at another Diamond Resort again! |

| This a very small "resort" with very limited amenities. Decor was gross with tiny bedrooms and bathrooms. We stayed on the third floor, and there were no elevators for luggage. We had a moldy stall shower with lovely mold growing in them. The staff was marginally helpful, and office closed at 5 pm. Housekepping service was weekly, very weakly! The maid actually showed me where the mop was if I wanted to take care of the floor. In addition, there was a small pool and beach without bar service. They offered limited and very slow wireless Internet. Also, there was no work-out area, and no beach or hotel activites available on premises. |

Royal Palm Beach was amazing. Visited: December 2008 |

| I loved it here. It was my first time, but as soon as I walked in, the front desk staff was super helpful and friendly. Glenny was helpful; Jesse was nice; and Roseline had a pretty smile and was a real natural as a front desk agent. In addition, the security guard Jervis was cool; and Singh was very nice. My stay here was perfect. The unit was spacious, and had an amazing view! I would definitely recommend it to others, too. Royal Palm Beach is a must, and the only hotel to stay at when visiting the friendly island. Both the French and Dutch sides were great! In addition, the location of the hotel was perfect for the nightlife. I'm a party girl, so I loved the Sunset Beach Bar on Fridays and the Alley Hangout on Tuesdays! You must experience it for yourself. I could go on and on about how great the hotel was. Everyone was so eager to help. I have found my home away from home! |

| We stayed here the first week of December, before high season. The weather was great, and the beach was superb! The two pools were very nice, and were never crowded. The swim up bar tended to be busy. We did not have the meal plan, which was a wise choice. We heard people complain about the buffets. Phillipsburg was within walking distance, and was very convenient. We did not rent a car, so we had to rely on taxis. They were plentiful, but got to be expensive. Most of the staff were friendly and pleasant, but we found the activities desk very unhelpful. The rooms were cleaned and neatened each day. However, two mornings we had to ask for coffee for the in-room coffee pot, and one morning we showered to find no towels. When we called the desk, we were told we would have to wait until 9:00 when housekeeping opened! If there is a choice, ask for ocean view room. It was wonderful! |

Notice the dates on the good reviews! Visited: February 2008 |

| You will notice that the dates for the good reviews end in 2004. The following year is when Festiva purchaced the Atrium. Since then, the quality of the resort has fallen as the fees and charges to the lease-holders and other customers have risen. Any coincidence? | |

| I took my wife here for our dream honeymoon, a few weeks back and it wasn’t what it was cracked up to be. Everywhere we went in the hotel, we got a cold shoulder. I tried to order a drink at the bar only to be rudely yelled at because I asked if she was the bartender. Then, I went to the casino. I had a slot machine break on me and not pay out. When I found someone who fixed the machines, he rudely pushed me off. My pillow reeked of hair grease every night. I passed by a few rooms that were being cleaned, and found the hotel staff laying their heads on the pillows. Our view was very beautiful, no complaints there. The walls, however, were pretty paper thin and you could hear people talking in the room next door. I tried to go on the Jet Ski excursion which was advertised as $160. However, the Jet Ski operator gave us the run around that he would have to charge triple that. I said I only want the basic $160, but he would not allow that. The neighboring town was very nice and is where I spent most of my time. The food from the upper restaurants was excellent, and that’s were we went every night. However, the buffet was not so great, and I counted at least three cockroaches walking around. We also went on a time share and had to spend a mandatory $80 per person per day. You would think with that type of money from everyone they could at least get rid of cockroaches. |
