Manta Lodge is in need of a major overhaul. Visited: June 2008 |

Manta Lodge has clearly seen far better days. When we stayed here in June, we found the accommodation less than basic. Also, the bathrooms were filthy, mouldy and not fit for purpose. The showers barely worked, and we were without water in the hotel for two days.
The owners didn't seem to care about the paying guests, but had lots of friends and family staying who would hang around and make a nuisance of themselves.
The staff - apart from two of them - were rude, lazy and behaved as if they couldn't be bothered. The food was pricier and less varied than other local restaurants.
We moved hotels because we couldn't stand the dirty state we were staying in. The next door hotel was great. It was spotless, and they had newish bathrooms with decent water supply.
If we couldn't have moved, we'd have gone home. Realize that until this place undergoes some major repairs and renovation, it's less than basic. Also, the bathrooms need ripping out and redoing. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. |

This visit to Manta Lodge was the second one in three years. Now the thing about time is that it changes things, but I am pleased to say that this property and the area have not changed one bit - and that's a good thing.
Quiet, peaceful and beautiful are three words to describe this place in full. The staff at the hotel are terribly friendly, and the same could be said for the residents of the area. I wish to return soon, and hopefully I'll meet the same beauty. |

I'm a Trinidadian who has only now seen what is meant by Tobagonian hospitality. The warmth and friendly nature of this charming hotel was unmatched the world over. The staff and especially the bartendress were so accommodating and saw to ones every comfort.
Even with the rainy days, we found something to do. And the sunny days allowed for exploration of the ancient rainforest to the rear of the hotel or the beach to the front with its fascinating old ruins.
And poolside dinner under the hanging red lamps and a full moon with waves lapping the shore was unforgettable, as was the impromptu acoustic renditions of some of the hotels guests.
With or without this hotel's famous diving reputation, it remains the real place to be! Kudos to the Manta Lodge team! |

Manta Lodge was a very relaxed, friendly place. We intended to stay one night, but it was so nice that we stayed for three nights! There was also good snorkeling at Angel Reef just outside Goat Island opposite the hotel. |

On my visit to Tobago, the choices of accommodations were endless. But after searching through some properties, I found myself here at the Manta Lodge.
The property sits just across from the beach, which is not suitable for bathing. A good bathing beach can be found a stroll away, though. The area is very peaceful and laid-back. There aren't many people around, but there are some fine restaurants.
If seclusion is what you are looking for, Manta Lodge is the place to be. Oh, and the people in that area are also the friendliest around Tobago. |

| Tobago’s claim to fame can be found underwater or on the pristine beaches, or in the ancient rainforests. Eco-tourists and scuba divers have long known about this Caribbean hideaway just 20 miles from the shores of South America. Now the rest of the world is finding out and... |
