5.0 stars Fabulous, but pricey, luxury hotel. Visited: October 2001

The Tobago Hilton has everything you would expect in a 5-star hotel. The rooms are spacious, very well appointed and ours had great views of the sea and beach. Nice touches include complimentary mineral water and coffee in the rooms in addition to the usual bathrobes etc. The hotel has been open for little more than a year so the rooms and furnishings are in pristine condition.

The main swimming pool is huge and great for kids, whilst the 2 satellite pools offer more privacy. The food was all of a very high standard, but expensive. If you want lunch there is nothing cheap on the menu with a steak sandwich or hamburger costing about $12. The staff was on the whole very professional and friendly.

As other reviewers have found, the hotel seems to be under occupied and was perhaps too quiet during our stay. Maybe as a result of the lack of guests there was no evening entertainment that I was aware of. If you a considering a stay here you should be aware that its exposed location means the resort is rather windswept at times. The sea is rough and not really suitable for swimming. (Although the courtesy bus will take you to Pigeon Point on the sheltered Caribbean coast.) The beaches on either side of the hotel are nice but virtually disappear at high tide, and therefore there are no sunshades on the sand.

In summary, the Hilton is a top quality resort hotel. The views are fantastic (in a rugged sort of way) and it is surely the most luxurious place to stay in Tobago. The only criticism being, it rather lacks atmosphere.

5.0 stars Beautiful hotel with friendly staff. Visited: June 2001

Tobago Hilton was a true bargain during our stay. We had it virtually to ourselves, as tourism is so low right now in Tobago.

It's a beautiful property with lovely rooms and a super helpful staff. The best features are the three pools; the main one is lovely, as are the two small satellite pools at either end of the complex, which feel like your own private swimming pool.

The only caveat is the price of the buffets at $15 for breakfast and $38 for dinner. I found this overpriced, but you are at a Hilton! The English chef prepares outstanding meals, so unless you're having steak (up to $46!) it's more reasonable to eat a la carte or even in the fine dining restaurant. Or order room service, which is excellent.

5.0 stars Superb accommodation with breathtaking views. Visited: April 2001

Upon arriving at the Hilton, the views were breathtaking. The golf course and the landscape gardening were excellent. The foyer was huge, along with the rooms that had panoramic views of the capital from the balconies. The food was super at each restaurant. The beautifully shaped swimming pool had two pool bars. There’s just too much to list. This is hotel is worth 6 stars!
