Go at your own risk! Visited: March 2007

We stayed at this hotel before in previous years, and had bad experiences with the staff. However, the location still took us back. After this time, though, we're never going back.

We were quoted one price over the phone for our stay, but when we checked in we were quoted much more. The manager's words to us were "the staff didn't understand what you meant".

Hello, what's wrong with this picture? How can she not understand when I explained that three people would be checking into an executive room that had a queen size and a twin bed? This should be understandable.

I then paid their new rate for two nights with breakfast for three, with a back-up plan of checking out ASAP out of this dishonest environment.

When we checked into the room, the entire room was dirty with dirt, dust and boot marks. I called for housekeeping immediately to clean the entire room, and change the linens and bedspread which looked dingy. What filth!

The patio - what a mess! There was water leaking out of the air conditioner. There were leaves from trees as if no one cleaned it in weeks. The table and chairs were disgusting and covered with dirt.

I asked the housekeeper about the patio, and she told me it wasn't her job. She said someone else needed to come and power blow the leaves of some sort. Guess what? The person never came - even though I called and requested cleaning of the patio.

The next morning, I was told the "breakfast-included" rate could only be eaten in the restaurant. If taken to the room, we had to pay for the entire breakfast all over again. What a rip off!

I asked to speak with a supervisor, because this was something new management had initiated. We got nowhere with this. We gave up and ate in the restaurant because I refused to pay for breakfast if it was already in the rate.

The restaurant staff was robotic, unfriendly and watched our every move. Now breakfast was there for us to serve ourselves. However, the staff insisted on taking out the breakfast as if they knew what we wanted to eat and the quantity we should eat. I had to yell at them to leave me alone! They then allowed me to serve myself, but they moved the cutlery when they thought we were finished.

That was the last straw. I was so angry that I had paid four-star money for a no-star hotel. I immediately went to the front desk, told them I was checking out and wanted my refund, and that I would never be returning to this horrible place.

When getting my refund, they applied so many fees that I was not aware of which made me sick to my stomach. I just wanted to get out of there.

We checked into another hotel, paid much less for two rooms, enjoyed the tasty breakfast, and I surely enjoyed the rest of my two weeks in Trinidad!

Cara Suites Pointe a Pierre is delightfully relaxing. Visited: November 2006

The facilities here are awesome! The ambience is heavenly, the service is exceptional, and the food is simply fantastic!

However, don't take my word for it. Just book a room, get down here, and experience the joy for yourself.

Be careful, though. It makes you feel guilty to enjoy all this by yourself, so I would suggest you bring your family along.
You will never want to stay anywhere else in Trinidad! Trust me!

I had a nice view, and a nice and large room. Visited: November 2004

The location was very nice overlooking the ocean. The rooms were large and nicely furnished. I slept very well. The bathrooms were below average compared to North America. But they were clean, and had plenty of hot water for the shower.

Great place away from the traffic and congestion. Visited: October 2002

As a field engineer, I have found the Cara Suites perfect while working in central Trinidad. It would also be great for southern Trinidad, also.

The amenities are very good. The open air bar overlooking the Bay of Paria is very nice. The people are also quite friendly and helpful. You also have free internet from their business center. I truly recommend this hotel.

We had a great time when we stayed at Farrell House Visited: November 1999

Farrel House Hotel was quite different from what we expected it would be.

The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The menu choices were excellent especially the burgers, the coconut bake and salt fish which you could order direct from the cook.

The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable and you could even get one that overlooks the Gulf of Paria. The sunsets were truly amazing.

One thing that really impressed us was this: There was usually a monthly meeting of the Rotary Club which was held while we we here. We returned that evening to a multitude of cars in the parking lot and were concerned initially that we would have to park far from our rooms. We were completely blown away when we were informed that the two parking spaces that had the "reserved" signs were held for us. This was quite remarkable! We felt so special!

The loacation was central to most areas and the surroundings were really peaceful and relaxing.
