It is difficult to express how fantastic my stay here was,
Candles was clean, quiet, and perfectly located. The owner, Andrew, was an amazing host who really seemed to care about the guests and their needs.
Your stay will be unforgettable (I'm sure), and It will be difficult to leave! I won't ever ever forget my stay here. |

Wow, what a find! Candles is probably the nicest guesthouse I've ever stayed in. We stayed here three seperate times during our trip in Trinidad & Tobago in February and March 2007. We would strongly recommend it if you are spending any time in Tobago at all.
Candles is spacious, very clean, comfortable, affordable, and has a very nice atmosphere. It is also in a good location.
I couldn't possibly think of anything negative to say about it. In fact, the only thing better than the guesthouse was the owner, Andrew Leekit. He went out of his way to help my girlfriend and me at all times. He gave us lifts to places around the island, took us to and from the airport, gave us advice for our trip, and cooked a barbeque for all his guests the evening we first arrived.
He even rang ahead to the hotel we had booked in Trinidad, while we were on the ferry over, to check that our booking was confirmed. He also tried to arrange a taxi to pick us up at the port in Trinidad. He was a great guy, and he will make your stay in Tobago a very plesant one.
I cant speak highly enough of Candles, and intend to go back one day. It is highly recommended! |

It would be difficult to describe how great my stay here was. I never felt so much at home in other places compared to here at Candles.
It was clean, friendly, well located, and safe. Also, the owner was a wonderful host.
If you go to Tobago, do not forget to book your stay here! Fun and relaxation are both guaranteed! |

Hi, we are a familiy from Austria with two kids - 5 and 7 years old - and had the big luck to have a wonderful time during our vacation in Tobago in february. Not only due to the beautiful island but especially due to our nice accomodation "candles" we could enjouy our stay entirely. Andrew, the owner of "candles", is not only the best host we ever met, but also always in a good mood, always friendly and patient with the adults and especially with the kids, which is not an obviousness. His house is in the southern part of the island, in a quiet housing estate, in a 15-minutes walking distance of the famous pigeon point beach, where we often spent our days. If we were too lazy to walk there, Andrew gave us a lift willingly. For several times we rent a car and made some trips all around the island and spent our time at other beaches, e.g. Englishman bay, one of the most beautiful bay of the island, pirate bay in Charlotteville and Mt. Irvine bay, both places good for snorkeling even for kids. Very recommendable is a trip with a "glass bottom boat". If we returned from our trips to "candles" in the evening, tired and full of great impressions, we always had the feeling, that we came at home. Our room was comfortable and big enough for 4 persons, with all stuff you need for being well, even with private televison, but our children always wanted to go downstairs to Andrews reception hall, where Andrew awaited them with juice and movies for kids. So it was a real rest for parents as well. Near the accomodation are some nice restaurants, some shops, even a take away for pizza and donuts. If you want to prepare your meals by yourself, you can make use of a well supplied, clean kitchen.
All told it was a very restful, very successful leave and I miss not only the tropical temperature, the beautiful island, but also the nice chatter with Andrew.

I´m incredibly happy that I chose Candles for my accommodation!
Throughout my stay, Andrew made me feel at home and helped me with anything I could possibly think about. He was never too tired to give information, a lift or great tips for the area. I met some very interesting and different people at Candles, all of which I had a great time with!
Staying at Candles was perfectly relaxing and exciting at the same time - thank you Andrew! And, thanks also to Emlyn!

Candles exceeded our expectations. It was a great location with a short walk to the beach and near Pigeon Point which allowed for evening activities. The open/shared facilities allows you to interact with visitors from other countries which really adds to your experience. Andrew, the host, was fantastic. He goes the extra mile to assure your convenience and is an exceelent tour guide! I'd highly recommend Candles to anyone. Thanks Andrew for making our stay memorable!

My boyfriend and I spent 9 days at Candles over the Christmas Vacation. We had a lovely time. The accomodation was clean and comfortable with excellent facilities and spacious surroundings for dining and 'liming'. Mr Lee Kit was very friendly and helpful and took us to and from the airport with no hassle. He also kindly organised our nylon pool and buccoo reef tours and provided us with dvds for our entertainment. There can be some noise from the Golden star restaurant but one can get the best views of any entertainment from the balcony of Candles. Earplugs are also provided for one's use. Whenever next I am lucky to visit Tobago Candles will be a sure choice!! Thank you for a memorable vacation!!!!

I had a thoroughly wonderful time staying at the Candles and will definitely go back. Andrew picked me up from the airport after a 9 hour flight so it was nice to see a friendly face and he gave me a quick tour on the way back so that I could get my bearings. I was on my own but Andrew is a good networker and without being obtrusive he gladly introduced me to other people who were staying at the Candles and wanted to do similar things. For instance, Andrew took a Swedish girl and me snorkling for a day and this was fantastic experience. Neither of us had a car and Andrew knew a good location. The goat and the crab race coincided on the same day so we dropped by on the way back and got the chance to partake in a bit of Tobagan culture. This wasn’t an everyday occurrence but Andrew is a man who is in the know, and everybody knows him, so we felt safe being in his company and were very fortunate to see the races.
With regard to the accommodation, my room was simple, homely and immaculate and the sheets were changed every couple of days. Kitchen facilities are provided and a large dining area, which is great if you don’t want to dine out every evening and Candles does have the extra advantage of making you feel very much at home.

I stopped in Tobago for just a few days on my way home after serving in the Peace Corps in South America. I was a single woman traveling alone. I stayed at Candles, and they were so welcoming, it felt like family!
The owner, Andrew, went out of his way to make sure I was safe, comfortable, and finding things to do on the island. My room was clean and comfortable. The location was fabulous and you can't beat the price!
I highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone traveling to Tobago. |

My first stay at Candles was in 2003. The comfortable accommodation was so much part of my enjoyable vacation, that Candles became the preferred guesthouse for every Tobago vacation thereafter. And why not? Candles is cosy, clean, well-equipped with modern amenities (great stove!), Mr. Lee Kit (the owner) is charming, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and yet non-intrusive. Candles is so great that you hardly ever notice that it is not on the beachfront. On some lucky days you can catch live Tobago entertainment at the Golden Star next door. I always recommend Candles to my friends. Thank you Andrew, for providing a haven away from home.
