I loved this place. It was right across the street from the bay - with a perfect views of Little Tobago.
Try to get a room on the third floor for the best view. Rooms are well designed. They have tile floors and high wooden ceilings (on the third floor).
They also serve a nice breakfast. |

This is the nicest hotel in that part of Tobago. Visited: January 2006 |

The review a reader from Rhode Island posted a year earlier is, in my opinion, definitely no longer valid.
I found the hotel to be beautiful, and the staff was friendly and motivated. The food was great, thanks to Walter, a gifted cook, who enjoyed every single dish he was preparing for his guests. I hope he gets a chance to train a new permanent cook whose arrival was expected.
To go for a nice swim, unfortunately, we had to take a little steep walk over to the Blue Waters Inn, or drive by taxi to Charlotteville's Pirate's Bay. The trip was worth it, though. |

It has great potential, but the current owners are unpleasant. Visited: January 2005 |

We had read nice reviews of Speyside Inn and made reservations here for five nights. We planned to dive in the area and wanted convenience and views of the ocean. Speyside had both.
The new owners were renovating the Inn, and the hillside room which we had was lovely, clean, with a seaview balcony. We were initially pleased.
Our first sunset approached and we sat on the comfortable balcony chairs watching the ocean. Suddenly, these industrial grade lights blasted our eyes. Timed to go on at dusk, these massive lights were aimed straight at our room. Not only did it force us off the porch, but it lit up our room throughout the night-luckily I had brought an eyemask. But, it made it impossible to enjoy the night sky or look out over the ocean.
The next morning the disappointment continued when we got our breakfast (included in the fare). It was very small, and if we wanted butter and jam with our toast, it was not included. It soon became apparent that economics, not hospitality, was the driving focus of the owners.
Dinners were also small in portion. We went elsewhere for the rest of our meals (Jemma's Treehouse restaurant was great).
Pricewise, we realized that the Blue Water's Inn, which had seemed like such a splurge, was really reasonable when compared with Speyside and what we got for our money.
The Inn had some nice features, but we did not feel welcome. And even the staff seemed nervous when we made requests for things like ice. We ended up leaving two days early.
One last note, there were numerous roosters that cuckooed from 2:00 am onward. But that was not the fault of the owners. |

Stunning views from a lovely room, and brilliant food. Visited: March 2002 |

We were made most welcome in a really relaxing environment. The hotel was comfortable, the food was excellent and the views were unique.
We had a hire car (needed) and found this end of the island very good to explore. There were guides available for birding and forest walks, and we made good use of local boat trips for snokelling, diving and to Little Tobago.
We will go back! |

Speyside Inn is pleasant and homey! Visited: August 2001 |

I stayed two nights at Speyside Inn in August. They had very friendly staff, excellent food, and a comfortable room overlooking sea with small balcony.
If you're looking for air conditioning, you have a fan and you can open the large jalousie-type windows. It had a very tropical feel. The beach was not a bathing beach, but you can drive up to the Blue Waters Inn and use their beach. They also had a snorkling boat from Blue Waters.
Breakfasts were very good. Upon-request items were given at no additional cost. They prepared fabulous salt fish and cocoa tea for us. It was superb! The manager, Cynthia, was very attentive, as was the staff.
I highly recommend it, but you need a car or cab for that end of the island. |

We were married at the Speyside Inn and had the most amazing wedding. The food was divine, the atmosphere was tranquil, and the service was impeccable. We had no complaints whatsoever. We highly recommend anyone with plans to marry on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago to consider this their number one choice. |

Good diving, nice rooms and great food. Visited: February 2000 |

The Speyside Inn was everything a person could ask for on a small island. The dive staff was well trained and the diving was good. The rooms were clean, comfy, had a t.v. and a nice view from the balcony. The staff was very nice and helpful and the food was great. Most the guests were divers, my type of people. You will need a car to get there, but be sure to take the long way around the island because the drive offers a great view of the island and the beaches. This was the last island I visited during my 60-day island hopping trip, and it was my favorite! I’m coming back next winter. |
