from the time you arrive you notice the clean and bright atmosphere. the staff is top notch very helpful. We had a room on the 17th floor overlooking the bay. we were greeted with complementary chocolates and water the first night. The room was very nice with all the accommodations. Would recommend it to anyone. |

Having NY & U.S. Lodging experience can be devastating when visiting a Family Property. I was made to immediately feel welcome. Every need was met by the unsuspecting Staff. The Food was presented impeccably & I left, all too soon in an enchanted state that exceeded my expectations. GREAT JOB, FAMILY. Your Homesick NY Relative |

I stayed at the hilton for romantic weekend get away. What i expected of the big name "HILTON" was a huge disappointment! Mildew! Broken bar doors, the hotel needs a paint job badly the exterior full of mildew! It was an embrassing memory! For how many decades has the hilton been at Trinidad? Don't you Paris Hilton people even care the re-model the one here in Trinidad? Why don't you re-check the 5 star name you give when you say the name Hilton!!! |

Castara Retreat Visited: June 2008 |

We had a truly wonderful time at Castara, easily the most beautiful location on the island. It's a sleepy fishing village and if relaxation is what you are looking for then don't bother finding anywhere else. What makes it stand out is that they have a fantastic manager who can provide whatever bespoke trip you want, whether that be by boat, hiring a jeep hire, going turtle watching or anything else. Just ask for 'Porridge' and I bet he will be able to facilitate that. The apartments are lovely and well looked after. But it is the location and unrivalled view that really make the stay memorable. |

This is a wonderful holiday place. Visited: May 2008 |

My family spent two great weeks at Castara Retreats in May. Hummingbird 1 had everything we needed for an ‘away from it all’ holiday.
It was part of a larger house made mainly of wood, and we had a large private veranda as well as an outdoor patio area. The outdoor shower was much appreciated after beach trips (there was also an indoor one). Also, the flat was cleaned and the sheets and towels changed every few days.
The house was set in grounds full of tropical plants. Carrington, the gardener, supplied us with regular fruit samples. From the veranda, there was a lovely view across the bays, and we enjoyed watching the boats, the birds, the stingrays and the shoals of fish (which we thought were seaweed clumps until we swam through them!).
On top of the location, the staff at Castara Retreats (Porridge, Jeanelle and their team) was truly lovely. They were always contactable if we needed to know how to do (or get) something. They made us feel that nothing was ever a bother.
The smaller bay at Castara had great snorkeling off the beach, and the beach and water were both clean and safe. The village had a relaxed, timeless Caribbean quality that we hope is never spoilt.
All in all, it was a brilliant holiday!

We did not have good service. Visited: April 2008 |

We stayed here in April, but will definitely not be visiting again.
The room was claustrophobic in that the only sunlight the room got was if the front door was left open - not the best idea!
Also, the restaurant left a lot to be desired. Breakfast was from 7 am to 10 am. However, when we asked for fruit (which was advertised on the menu), we were told by a rather surly young woman that there was none left, and we should have "come down earlier." We were at the table at 8: 50 am!
On another day, when serving us, the waitress had on an apron that was filthy - and enough for an environmental officer to close the kitchen down. Not to worry, we looked forward to Saturday's breakfast menu which boasted "local food" consisting of saltfish and ackee with bakes. We arrived down for breakfast, and when we ordered this we were told that the cook "forgot" to buy the ingredients for this meal so it was not on offer.
Also, the crockery was chipped, cutlery was stained, and tables were not laid adequately with me having to 'steal' crockery from other tables! The astounding thing was that the owner was sitting in the same dining room having breakfast herself, and appeared oblivious to the goings on in her establishment.
When we approached her to complain, she said she was "hard of hearing." How convenient!
To cite this guest house as one of the better ones, and to advertise it in the Trinidad Tourist brochure as one of the better ones, is a travesty of the truth. |

My girlfriends and I stayed here for Carnival 2008. We booked our rooms through a third party, and were overcharged and misinformed. Nonetheless, we were moderately happy with the rooms and the overall service of the hotel.
The front desk agents were well informed and eager to help. The hotel only had two taxi drivers, so this could be a deterrent for business travlers.
The security was extreme. At sunset, they locked the front gate to the driveway of the hotel and had guards there asking for room keys and numbers. Also, at midnight the hotel doors were locked and you had to buzz the front desk. It was a bit peculiar.
In addition, the pool was dirty, so we didn't use it. The breakfast was great, though.
We are looking into other accommodations for next year. |

The Palms provided great rooms and service. Visited: May 2008 |

We booked a night here based on online reviews. We found the room was very nice, comfortable, and clean - with a great shower, full cable, and free Wi-Fi!
They also had comfortable beds and nice furniture - it was very refreshing!
Hotels in Port of Spain can be pricy, but the Palms was definitely the best way to go. It was about half of what the Holiday Inn Express charged - which was nearby. They also arranged shuttles to the airport for a small fee...something like $15 TT, which was just a few dollars. |

We cannot say enough great things about Ray and Pat. From the time we arrived at the airport until we left three days later, it was nothing but an exceptional experience.
We were guests who were kind of a pain. We came at a strange time (during the Plymouth jazz festival), but they both were extremely accommodating, and made us felt like family.
The rooms were great, the food was the best we had experienced at any bed and breakfast, and the environment was relaxing.
Also, Ray went out of his way to help us in many ways, and we really appreciated it.
The beaches were good, and it was a memorable trip that we can highly recommend to others. It was an easy five stars! |

Mom's Bed & Breakfast is my favorite place I have ever stayed.
The property and views were unimaginable. The pool was a lovely place to relax after a day at Englishman's Bay. Mom and Pop were lovely and lively folks and boy, could Mom cook! Breakfast was awesome.
Max, the dog, will warm your heart. The place was immaculately clean. I want to go back for a family reunion. If you don't stay here, you have officially lost your mind! Thanks again Mom and Pop! |

Bijou is a home away from home. Visited: April 2008 |

If you drive around the island of Tobago you will see the twist and turns you have to go through to get to different parts of the island.
So, first of all, the location was excellent in Mount Irvine. The roads were simple, and for the most part, straight. Bijou-des-Caraibes had the perfect location.
It was about 15 minutes from Scarborough, and from the best beach in Tobago Pigeon Point near Bucco Reef. You can see this beautiful turquoise reef from the poolside on the mountain top, too. The Caribbean coast was so lovely to look at as soon as we took a stroll along the grounds.
Judy probably has the most beautiful garden in Tobago! It was well manicured and so delightful to look at. Bijou-des-Caraibes was so secure and secluded. You have a nice sized pool all to yourself at your disposal. It was so nice to just walk out and take a dip without the crowds.
Our every need was catered to here. The provided Wifi, BBQ Grill, A/C, and fresh towels. It was a completely furnished two-bedroom apartment with a well equipped kitchen. Also, there were no mosquitoes!
Judy is the best hostess, as she provided everything we needed and asked for. She even picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry port. Her staff also arranged a rental car for us which they drop off at the house for about $45 a day.
We really enjoyed ourselves. As we looked around the island to look at our second and third and so forth choices, we felt so relieved that we chose Bijou-des-Caraibes. There is no better place in Tobago to stay at- - believe us. We already checked for our next visit. |

Reconsider if you plan to stay at the Tropikist. Visited: April 2008 |
| Posted by canterburybishop |

I had read all the reviews of hotels on the island of Tobago here. Of them all, our tour operator decided on the Tropikist as it was the only hotel close to the airport that was a great deal - or so we thought.
We arrived, and yes, it was close to the airport - very close. It was next to the landing strip.
The overall look of the hotel was like taking a step back in time. The hotel was run down and faded, and could do for a good coat of paint. The hotel's sign was falling apart, and was very tacky.
The receptionists were welcoming - and about the only people at the hotel who were friendly. The maids were okay, but they didn't talk much. They would not speak if you didn't speak to them. The bar staff, by far, was the most rude of all. The restaurant staff appeared as if they were doing us a favor at serving us.
The rooms, I must admit, all had nice views of the ocean. Also, they all had balconies or patios, which was very nice. The beds were old and dated, and need to be updated or changed. The fridge was a small, very old piece of equipment that didn't really work and only made noise. It was rusted, to say the least, and I was afraid of opening it in fear of getting infected - not to mention the health issues.
The shwower needs a proper cleaning, and there was limescale build up on the faucets and fixtures. The door didn't work, and most guests said they didn't even lock.
The restaurant was not organized properly, and it didn't help to complain. I suggest you just avoid this hotel. |

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. Our host and hostess could not have been nicer or more accommodating.
There were beautiful views from every room, and we enjoyed all the outdoor areas in which to relax in the sun and breeze.
We can heartily recommend La Casablanca to anyone visiting the area. |

I transferred to Aurthers after spending one (unpleasant) night at another hotel. After my first stay here (Arthurs), I would stay nowhere else the next time around.
They have clean rooms, reasonable rates, courteous staff, and a convenient location. It is a home away from home - a comfortable environment. |

It’s been two years since we last visited Sunset Valley Estate. And with our 25th wedding anniversary on 1-21-08, we decided to take another trip here to celebrate our special time.
Again, we were not disappointed. It was like seeing old friends again. Mom and Pops welcomed us like family they hadn’t seen in a while.
The facilities were still as impeccable as before. I can’t say enough about the estate and the quality people here. This is a must stay if you’re planning a trip to Tobago!
This is now an annual trip for us - it’s that special. |

Our stay with Pat and Ray was great. Everything was provided to make our holiday as enjoyable as possible. Collection and drop off to the airport was included as part of the stay, as was a daily laundry service.
The house was beautiful and immaculately kept. The gardens and pool were gorgeous, and the whole place was surrounded by fantastic scenery. We loved sitting on the balcony watching and listening to the ocean.
As you can see from the other reviews, the breakfasts are legendary, keeping us going until the evening with no urge for lunch.
La Casablanca Guest House is highly recommended. |

We stayed at La Casablanca Guest House from April 11 - 18th, 2008. From the moment they picked us up at the airport, we felt at home.
The guest house was beautiful, very well kept, and clean. We received a variety of breakfasts over our week-long stay, and they were all delicious.
In addition, the pool and gardens in the back were nice to see and enjoy.
We are planning to come back to Tobago soon and La Casablanca Guest House is our first choice in places to stay. |

The owner walked into our room, spoke to us very harshly, and told us how to sit on the funiture - as if we were children.
The owner went even further to charge us extra because we had a friend stay over one night. I am never coming back here, nor do I recommend it to anyone.

Sunset Valley is my perfect sunset! Visited: November 2007 |

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Sunset Valley. The home, the view, and the surroundings were everything one would imagine their Caribbean vacation to be.
One can appreciate the serene view, the feeling of being in the middle of the rain forest, and the simplicity that the home near Englishman’s Bay has to offer.
I will be going back. |
