You’ll see mollusks raised from egg to adult, and learn how the conch farm is helping to protect the Caribbean queen conch from extinction. Come see how they replenish Conch into the sea. This area is known for conch and this farm ensures it will be for generations. It is quite interesting, and worth a look.
It is open daily from 9 am – 5 pm.

You can try light tackle trolling for mackerel, jack, and barracuda - or even the flats for bonefish and tarpon, or spin cast for bonefish. Some may prefer bottom fishing for snapper and grouper. You'll probably agree with the numerous travel magazines that rate this among the finest beaches in the world. The sand is perfectly white and powdery soft. But even more inspiring are the treasures found just beyond in the peacock-blue waters. At majestic Bight Reef, commonly known as White House Reef, the Turks and Caicos National Trust have recently established an underwater trail. Swim near the sea grass in the late afternoon, and you're likely to catch sight of sea turtles. Grace Bay is frequently visited by Jo Jo, an Atlantic bottlenose dolphin who, though wild, often swims close to shore. These waters are teeming with parrotfish, grouper, sergeant majors, and even manta rays. (close) |

He has developed a special bond with humans and can often be found playing and being active with people and the passing boats.
In 1987, JoJo, according to letters to the government, had become a tourist liability. The dolphin had reportedly been attacking humans after being exploited as a "pet" for commercial interests. Knowing the dolphin, Dean Bernal wanted to correct the misconceptions of the dolphin's antics before JoJo was placed in captivity. Dean petitioned the Turks and Caicos Ministry of Natural Resources, stating that the dolphin was defending himself against harassment and that the dolphin should be protected as a unique resource.
In 1989, JoJo was declared a 'National Treasure' and Dean was appointed as the dolphin's official warden. Because of JoJo's uniqueness, the friendly dolphin has become a powerful symbol for nature conservation. Dean created the JoJo Project not only to raise awareness, but to educate and protect, not only JoJo, but all wildlife and their habitats. (close) |

These friendly creatures, found only in Turks and Caicos and parts of the Bahamas, were at risk of extinction. Now they are protected on this uninhabited cay thanks to an award-winning effort of public and private organizations. This sanctuary and its short boardwalk trail are a hit among visitors of all ages. Little Water Cay is a prime example of TCI's successful balance, encouraging tourism while protecting the area's natural wonders. Boat trips to this cay are often combined with snorkeling and shelling on or around nearby shores.

The 6500 acre Princess Alexandra National Park is one of the Caribbean's best snorkeling spots. Visitors can also see iguanas, ospreys, mangroves and marine life at the park.
It runs along Provo's north coast, stretching between Thompson Cove and Leeward Point. The park includes the pristine waters off Grace Bay Beach.
Because the reef sits on a shallow shelf surrounded by deep water, snorkelers may get to view turtles, lobsters, and other marine animals who typically cruise at much greater depths. (close) |
