- The Turks & Caicos islands are always on EST (as daylight saving time is observed).
- Cell phone coverage varies with provider - Cingular works on Providenciales.
- Although there are ATM's they are not reliable, bring cash and credit cards.
- Villa guests - You can ship food and drinks but the grocery stores are well stocked.
- Take it easy when driving around, the traffic police are rarely out but the tickets are pricey.
- Please do not rent bicycles on this island, it's not a safe way to get around.

Tipping and Taxes: Government tax is 8% and hotels will add a service charge of 10-15% to your bill. Restaurant tabs should be tipped 10-15%, but be sure it is not already added. Taxi drivers should receive a small tip too.
Dress Code: Casual, lightweight clothing. Swimwear is not appropriate in public places and topless or nude sunbathing or swimming is also considered inappropriate except at certain resorts.
