Absolute View is absolutely perfect! Visited: June 2007
Posted by sarianmark
My wife and I have stayed at villas on several Caribbean islands, but Absolute View on Provos has been by far the most enjoyable. In fact, we've already stayed here twice.

Absolute View was perfect. They had a great sized pool, the ocean and private beach were only a few steps away, and they had every amenity we needed.

The staff took good care of the villa, and if there was ever a problem, they were only a phone call away and would respond quickly.

I cannot recommend Absolute View for a perfectly calm, relaxing vacation. We are already thinking about when we can go back!

this was a nice, private home at a good value, but there were some drawbacks. Visited: June 2006

I stayed at this villa in June with my mom, stepdad, sister, her boyfriend and my husband. For the price we paid, I think the villa was very nice. It was one of the lesser expensive ones in the area.

It was a good value; the house was set up great for three couples; the private beach was great; and the overall privacy was great. We also felt the kitchen had everything we needed. Having our own pool was awesome.

However, the road to the house was horrible. It was about 15 minutes down a gravel road with huge potholes. It gave me a headache every time we went anywhere.

It was pretty far from the grocery store, and even farther from Grace Bay Beach (the most beautiful beach I have ever seen). The bottom of the ocean at the private beach was very soggy - icky feeling. If you are picky about this, wear some shoes.

Oh, and by the way, the last three days we were here, there were sharks in the water at the private beach. We heard they were nurse sharks and wouldn't hurt you, but we weren't taking any chances and weren't able to swim the last few days because of this.

Finally, the gardener came in the middle of our stay and got junk all in the pool, and we never were able to get it clean. Also, the pool was a yucky green color for the last half of our stay. So, for us, there was no pool and no ocean for the last three days which was a real bummer.

They told us there was nothing that could be done about the pool, and that it was because of the rain. However, we spent a lot of time at Grace Bay Beach, and all of the resorts there had perfectly blue pools, so I don't believe that.

One more thing - if you go in the summer, it is pretty hot (I am from Texas, so I know hot!), and the electricity is not reliable. It went out two or three times while we were here, once during the middle of the night.

Also, they will tell you the extra electricity won't be that much. However, we only ran the air in our rooms at night while sleeping and it was $225. They had told us it shouldn't be more than $100.

All in all, I enjoyed the experience, but will probably stay at a resort right on Grace Bay Beach next time - mostly because I like how guests are taken care of at a resort (maid service and things), and because the beach there was much nicer. I will miss the privacy, though.

Tip: there is a restaurant called Hemingways that you have to go to. It is very cool, and the resort it is in seems reasonably priced and nice. Also, bring your bug spray. The mosquitos were bad, and there were lots of ants in the house, too.
